Oh man! I was there that night!!! It was SO hot out! Just graduated high school. I think I see my arm haha. 30 years goes by fast. Can't believe I haven't seen them live since then....until this Sunday in Foxboro!!! LFG!!
No, they should’ve said thank you Jason Cliff is smiling we’re going to go back in on And justice for All album and add some bass tracks. Did anybody notice that Jason said thank the fans after James Hetfield I believe said who should we thank my God Jason was being real cool and respectful.
I just wanna say, Kirk Hammett is sounding awesome. I mean like awesome y’all know what was going on at that time. Just put it this way Jason‘s cool. I think there was a dialogue between Hammett and Newstead‘s performance. 😎
The 1990-1993 era will always be the best in my opinion. Load was a great album but something changed for me during that time, i still liked them but i wasn't as rabid a fan as i once was. Lars ditched his 9 piece Tama drum kit, the hair was cut, just wasn't the same.
I was there, and somewhere between whoever shot this and the stage. Stone cold sober and high as kite on adrenaline and metal! I couldn't hear properly until after Christmas. One of the best nights of my life, easily.
Thank you so much for sharing 🙏🏻🤘🏻🎶🇺🇸 It brings back so memories for seeing this concert exactly how I saw it 🇺🇲🎶🤘🏻 Of how o got there n why I got to see this epic concert I was apart of 🤘🏻🇦🇺🙃🎶🇺🇸
I'm a Australian. I was there at this concert. At the Pontiac silverdome. I was there because I won a radio competition to how I would introduce them to the stage. I won the draw n my prize was to see Metallica, on their Summer Sanitarium Tour with Linkin Park Deftones Mudvayne n Limp Bizkit. Was my 1st time flying international from Sydney to LAX n connecting flights out to Detroit. I was in the stands. I recently hung with Mudvayne on their 2024 tour in Australia with Coal Chamber, Mudvayne kindly signed my tour shirt poster of this concert. I couldn't find my tour shirt in time for Mudvayne of the summer Sanitarium Tour. I got a poster done with picture of this tour. I'm a huge Metallica fan from my teenage years. I have seen them a few times over my years n want to see them when they make their current tour to Australia 👌🏻😁🤘🏻🎶🙏🏻 if I can get Metallica to sign the same poster as Mudvayne did. So epic that would be. 🙏🏻
What a evolutionary and courageous point in their career. Starting to cut hair, James learning to sing again after getting lessons, and wearing shorts lol.
Oh my God!!! Thank you so much for sharing! I was at the Philadelphia Spectrum seeing this very concert with Metallica and The Cult on Wednesday, July 19th, 1989, when I was 19 years old. I got tickets for my 19th birthday, which was 2 days before this show. This concert is 35 years old today! Thank you for posting. RIP to the Philadelphia Spectrum, Ruthie, Bobby, and Lubby 🤘
I would have been 6 going on 7. Man the pacific coliseum has some good acoustics. I so would have been there if I was old enough lol. Last time I seen them was 2012. They were filming some concert video that same weekend.
I missed this tour of ‘94. They played at The Mann Music Center in my hometown of Philly. A very unusual venue for Metallica to play at. They did two nights at The Spectrum on April 6 & 7 of ‘92, which I attended both nights.
Thank you so much for posting this. I was there. I was 17, my first concert me and my two buddies bought scalped tickets for $50 each, which was highway robbery, but I wouldn’t trade the experience for the world. They played Orion that night, which I didn’t learn until many years later was very rare.
We had back stage passes from Newsted who put us on the guest list again cause my friend Kenny (R.I.P.) Was 6 months terminal with bone marrow cancer and Newsted totally went out of his way for Kenny From 1996 till he left. I caught 2 picks and got em autographed by Jason, James and Kirk. Little did we know this was the last time we saw Jason in Metallica. When he left we would go see him with Void Vod and we told him we understand and back him up 100%. From Stadiums to a bar in Concord CA. Newsted told us that he and Rob Flynn (Machine Head) just went to the Santa Cruz mountains and recorded an album’s worth of music but it was one song that was one hour long. And all he could do is just tell us about it. He had so much Music recorded and it was not allowed by Lars n James so he left. Jason couldn’t have done a better job.
Newsted also told us that when he and Rob recorded an hour long song it was the mushrooms they were trippin on that gave them the idea of one song one hour long on mushrooms. I wish I could listen to that.
