Hey there, good video. Dunno if you have fixed the door drip issue where the awning meets the van. I figured that a pool noodle is about the right fit in between. It redirects the water to the sides of the awning, reduces the drips immensely.
Complaint after complain after complaint about Renogy Customer Support and that damn company never fixes their problem. This is why I'll look elsewhere for anything solar or battery related, a company that doesn't fix their problems doesn't care about their problems and that's not the kind of company I want to support.
Yooo man I need some help! Nothing at all works when I flip my switch on the ac even when I try defrost. The rear works but that’s a different switch then the main ac
@@DadVanture pre-treating the roads? Interesting. Up here in the snow zone you will not see any winter maintenance trucks apply any de-icing agent until after the precipitation has fallen. And in this region they put down a combination of sand mixed with granular calcium chloride so it melts the snow and ice on contact. In really cold weather they will spray a brine solution directly on the roadway. These de-icers corrode vehicle undercarriages and bodies and weaken rebar and structural steel on bridges.
EDIT: Call Renogy on the phone after you have a case number and they will be far more likely to take care of you. It took a month from when they approved the replacement to when I received it. They paid for all shipping, tested my battery ruled it faulty and replaced it with the newest model at no cost to me. It was a 2-3 month process. It took longer than I would have liked but they did come through and I am back on team Renogy
dude I'm sorry you have this issue. since its dead will they not take it back for testing? they gave me the option to send it to them.. so far my chins batteries have been solid. I have 200ah now
@@DadVanture they have never even offered up any realistic solution besides for 'charge it with a compatible charger with lithium activation' literally 10 times. Honestly Im pretty sure that I'm just going back and forth with literal bots at this point lol they barely acknowledge anything I've said and keep saying the same thing. I don't even care anymore I'm completely over Renogy. I appreciate the suggestion and am glad the Chins have been working well for you! I have been looking into Chins, LiTime and SOK. I like how the SOK can easily come apart. But I also like the Li Time comes in 230ah and was recommended by Will Prowse but afraid if something happens to the BMS I'll be in the same boat. These 200ah are really hard to get the tops off. One thing forsure I will certainly NEVER buy anything Renogy ever again and be sure to tell everyone I can haha thank you for this video!
@theskateprofessor you can call them also! I felt the same way about the chat. Almost bot-ish.. or terrible at English lol... good luck with your hunt on a new battery man
@@DadVanture I took your advice and I called them today! They could tell I was knowledgable and didn't do anything outside of the warranty. They decided to send me a return shipping label to bring the battery in for testing. I will provide another update for the viewers when I have more information. Thanks again!
Nice use of the factory wiring, van is looking good! I opted to keep the front dome on my Astro, I find myself using it fairly often. However, I would definitely hit my head less on some puck lights/flush mount LEDs 😆
Good point. I was honestly thinking about putting in the stock headliner and overhead consol but glad I went this route haha I already have to duck pretty good to get in the driver seat
Honestly, this is the first negative review of Renogy I have found. In the UK we get so many customer support people from other countries it has become standard.
The first complaint you've heard about Renogy? There is a whole internet full of complaints about them, they just don't care to fix their Customer Support problem.
I usually give myself a 2 hour time frame from riverside but it's usually about an hour and 45 minutes depending on traffic. If you can get up before the families start moving your golden.. or wait till after 12
its treating me great, I had a problem with my renogy battery, but not that that's sorted out this thing is mint. my van isn't insulated at all so the 40 is perfect. I got the gas version and tapped the stock tank . I go skiing and come back for lunch.. no snow piles up on the windows and the inside is 60F its one of the best investments I've made this one has the auto elevation control also
@LoveTribeOverland yea a few videos back I ended up getting the self heating chins battery from amazon.. same options, about 130 cheaper.. renogy customer service rubbed me the wrong way so I decided to vote with my dollar and go elsewhere and save some money.. ended up taking the extra cash and buying a used 100ah non bluetooth so now I have 200AH!
thanks for the info on the awning. Im looking at getting one to add to my chevy avalanche roof rack and im in West Texas where wind is an every day occurance. I was curious how it would hold up to high winds. Im also considering getting the awning room to go with it. Seems to be a good value
What heater are you using battery for? I have a diesel heater.Bat only gets punched from glow plug at startup then just fan while running. On high my 90ah wet cell dies over night on high.So a Li bat will run twice as long. Not seeing 3-4 days with any heater that I know of. Edit: Oh I checked yer channel out ,gas heater, nice! First dad fish, love it!
I was getting about a day and a half during winter before it errored out.. I'm excited to see how long it lasts now.. you are right.. 3-4 might be a stretch.. but I think it can def last 3 days.. I also scooped up a non bluetooth 100ah lithium that I added in so I have 200 AH right now. currently working on a 12v AC system that I can run while the motor is off in summer! I'm stoked.. thanks for watching I truly appreciate it
Hahahha enjoy your battery man! They sell another brand I ordered.and found out after the order. And before it was shipped I tried to cancel it.They emailed me a page from the manual.Duh! My neighbor has bought everything from them and hasn’t installed any of it yet on his big rv.I thought he knew better, hahhaa!
I don't think id buy another renogy product.. I went with them because I thought if I needed help, a bigger more popular brand would be the better choice..
good question! yes.. the rear AC never worked anyway. I replaced a valve in the unit, it worked for a short amount of time then was broken again. I found a 12v AC that will be able to be run off grid when the motor is off on amazon so I will be installing that. it was designed for semi trucks so they don't have to idle to run the AC
Would you happen to know why my blower motor resistor would be making a humming noise? I’ve tried two new ones from scratch delco and it still makes a humming noise when it’s plugged in?!
I wouldn't know.. but if I had to guess.. maybe a bad ground? Or a short in the wire somewhere? Try and inspect the wires comming off the plug and trace them back!
This is my 1st time watching ur videos. I've watched the mav man from the Duluth area. I've got a question of your ASTRO van. Was this a work van, did you buy the van with upper roof on it a
do you think I compare to MAV? be honest!! lol this was a passenger style astro van (passenger vans have windows, cargos do not) that I stripped and added the hightop from a company in Long Beach California! I have a playlist on my whole van build if you want to check it out!
I have a webasto airtop Evo 40! It runs off my stock fuel tank, I wanted to make a video showing the average person could still go with ter camping g without one. Check out some of my other videos if you have time! Tha KS for the comment, I hope you enjoyed this one!
Hi Chris! I’m trying to replicate your system and add solar in it. Could I ask you some questions as soon as possible (I’m on a time crunch)? I don’t know how to direct message on RU-vid. Please let me know if I can email you. Or if you’d like to email me, mine is kshiell2@gmail… I’m willing to compensate you for some advice. Hope to hear from you.
