There is a Tshirt of that during in 2007 I think... I printed that for Deaf Bilingual Coalition when the founder John Egbert had an event during AGB convention. I kept the t shirt and the artwork too for future printing... I believe it is Marvin Miller's wife who drew it.
Excellent explanation! Vlog or blog may not enough reach those who really don't understand? Maybe few? I could be wrong? I wonder? Someone like you need to voice to be heard to governors, teachers, doctors and audiologists. Because it has been long time ever since I grew up. Now I am 50 yr old. I see small improvement for small deaf children. I know two teachers who agreed sign language are very important but they also strongly support speech and IC.
What you say is very true, I'm hard of hearing and never experienced language deprivation but I have heard of a lot of sad stories from language deprivation and it made an impact on me when I went to a deaf school because deaf students are still behind and even though I never experienced language deprivation, it does bother me almost everyday.
That's cool, but holy crap, you are giving that kid way too much to play with at one time in that tub. Like, I get the kids can't pay attention to things for long, but that's going to overstimulate them, give them, like, two or three things to play with, not the entire fucking toy box.
I know this video is old now but I'd still like to share how interesting it is to see this. Im hearing and learning asl. So to watch you make comparisons, stumble, or get words right is motivational. I also speak Spanish and a little Italian. Because those two languages are so similar, it was easy to understand most of Italian (which was my newer language). I'd still say that when more than one language shared a similar word that can be EVEN HARDER because sometimes they have different meanings. That's when it gets confusing.
You truly signing very beautifully BUT at least try give your mouth rest and look like 1000000% deaf , got it .....Cool !!!!!! You are very, very attractive woman!!!!!!!!🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️❤️😁😎👍👍👍
I remember this puertorican girl, who used to be my friend, tell me, "You don't act Puertorican." I was hurt. Apparently, I wasn't living up to this cultural stigma that she believed is how all Puertoricans should act. I had to educate her. I said, "You do realize that there is a difference between ricans who live in New York, and those on the island right? I've lived there (she never had nor visited). There is also a difference on the island as well with city vs country. Poor, middle class, rich. Different types of skin color. Different types of clothing styles. Different types of music. I speak the language...do you? I know the history...do you? I know the states of PR...do you? I know the anthem...do you? And not once have I ever thought you weren't Puertorican enough. All of what I asked can be learned so I wont hold your ignorance against you my friend."
I'm so grateful for makeup tutorials like this. This is so helpful for people with acne-prone or redness-prone skin like myself. This cosmetics seems to be working so well, gonna try it myself. These videos feel like a chit-chat with a bestie, love it❤
I watched Deaf U and I have to say how disappointed I was. These "Elite" acted like a bunch of emotionally immature high school girls instead of grown women. Its one thing to be proud of your culture but its another to think of yourselves as superior than others especially within your community. History has proven that, that way of thinking is dangerous. Hitler thought that way. Lets not forget there was even a time where black deaf children weren't allowed in a white deaf school. You can look up the history of Black American Sign Language. Or the fact that deaf people as a whole have faced discrimination among hearing people. So please stop this ignorant way of thinking "Elite" people. Also, the fact that you felt you had power to be able to "shun" someone from the community...grow up. To those who felt less, dont let nobody have that power over you! Surround yourself around mature like-minded individuals who are going through the same thing you are going through as well as Deaf people who are willing to take you under their wing to share culture, knowledge, and language without judgment. To Cheyenne, this is something I always told my daughters "Not everyone who smiles in your face is your friend." ❤ My thing is this, if you come to me about someone talking bad about me...the first thing I'm going to ask is did you stick up for me? If you didn't, then get out of my face with all that negativity.
Lou Ferrigno “Hulk” speaks English and no sign language because he got a hearing aid when he was 4 in 1955. I was so surprised by him. Elon Musk said “What’s the point of sign language in a video if you have substitutes? Am I missing something?” He is right because most deaf people couldn’t understand that closed captioning “illiteracy”. ASL is not great to teach deaf children or a bad education because they struggle how to read sentences. I am still unhappy if ASL exists in some public schools except deaf schools. Hopefully, cued speech will teach them instead in the future. Sigh poor deaf children 😢 STOP TEACHING SIGN LANGUAGE. CUED SPEECH IS THE BEST CHOICE INSTEAD! Sign language is risky because I remember a doctor gave me her note-taking and she wrote “Are you upset”. I didn’t know what a word was but I was 11. That’s a HUGE disappointment. My public school had a bad education, sign language is not English, and DELAY speech. I tried to encourage them to cued speech instead. There are new technologies such as cochlear implants and hearing aids, so sign language is not necessary for deaf children right now. By the way, today is 2024 not the 1800s. ASL is beautiful but it should NOT be taught to deaf children unless teenagers or adults because they will be illiterate if they can’t read or have difficulty writing English maybe. Truth: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Ne46UDOO06U.htmlsi=VtMqIVlQNJL3KWER I need to fix that timeline. Thanks for understanding.
She was probably unaware that a lady was saying can I help you twice in the speaker. I saw videos of deaf people in their houses and their fire alarms are chirping or their dogs are barking and they are probably unaware. There are video clips of a deaf woman in Florida, Rebecca King, ordering a drink at a Starbucks drive thru and they have a screen on the menu board and the barista Katie appeared on the screen and knew sign language and took Rebecca's order by signing to her and understanding her sign. On the video clip there must be another person in the car with Rebecca a female and they made some odd noises with their voice. Deaf people who were born deaf or when they were babies and never learned what spoken English sounds like will never know how to say words properly. That's why when they try to vocalize, it sounds like gibberish.
I came from Deaf U Netflix series and girl all the other so called elite girlies were jealous of you cus you are wayyy prettier than them and have actual values.
