Hello and welcome to Tesla Family Channel. My name is Shawn and I create videos in hopes to persuade others to adopt a lifestyle using sustainable energy. Most of my videos and shorts are on the topic of my Tesla, Solar Panels and Powerwall, and Supercharging, but I also talk about Full Self Driving, Electric Road Trips, Tesla Accessories, and Battery-powered Tools.

Do you think that sleeping in my model 3 might be putting my health at risk? I removed the back seat bench. Now that I've seen that orange high voltage connector right under the seat, I'm second guessing putting down the backseats and sleeping in the car usually right on top of that high voltage connector. I'm curious to hear what you guys think about it. I appreciate your comments. Thanks
Hi, longtime sub and just turned on my new Tesla solar project. Do you have any insight into their customer service. Since my panels were installed, I have had issues, but the biggest issue is attempting to reach their customer service. When I have been fortunate to talk to customer service everything is a slow process! I need a tech to service and correct issues such as one of my two Powerwall's is not operating, the app does not provide the real time data of the system and more! Just getting frustrated and was hoping you and your subscribers might have some helpful info you might share.
Thanks for watching and for reaching out. Did you request service via the app? If so, then my only recommendation is to keep calling and emailing until you get a response. Squeaky wheel gets the grease. Luckily my system is going strong and I have not had to reach out for service on anything.
We decided to add two PW2s and a GW2 to our existing 12.5 kWh Enphase PV system with 31 Enphase IQ8A with micro inverters. Waiting on the final quote with the equipment list needed to mate to our Enphase micro-inverters. The company that installed our PV system last year (Straight Up Solar) is also one of a few Authorized Tesla PW installers in the St Louis area. We are going with them because of SERVICE AFTER THE SALE. Our PV system was oversized by at least 2 MWh maybe 3 MWh and we are on a NEM where we bank credits that expire after a year. Our grid is very stable so Whole House Back-Up is a nice bonus, but we wanted our PV to keep operating in the event of an outage. Adding some ESS does both. With the 30% ITC and our utilities (AMEREN IP) $300 per kWh CASH REBATE, our installed price should be less than $16K. We were quoted $22K for a GENERC 24 kWh generator. We might splurge and add 2 more next year. And we like your term "BUBBLE". We are 72 and this will allow us to stay in our home, be safe, and live comfortably during any grid outage. Yea, and thanks for the great real-world video of how PV and ESS work during an GRID outage. .
Front suspension replacement should be considered maintenance as it seems inevitable for all Model 3s. Im surprised there aren't aftermarket parts that last longer.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, I agree. I was really surprised by the low price. I scraped some old Romex copper wire there just a few days ago and got over $2/pound but I know copper is more valuable.
ah, old bed mode, mine had the control arm squeak, they always seem surprised when I get suspension issues on the wrong car. Shudder on the S, and squeaks on the X
Thanks for watching again, my brake lights do turn on with Regen. In fact, I hardly ever need to use the brake pads because of Regen. This accident was the fault of an inattentive driver.
I just asked my installer to work up a quote to get two PW3's added to my existing Enphase PV system. Here in Illinois after my AMEREN credits and federal tax credit he says I'll come in under $20K
Can you see your per panel production? If so it would be nice to see just one panel cleaned to compare against its neighbouring panel on the same day. Maybe I'll try making a video!
Thanks for watching! I have a Solar Edge inverter with Tesla Gateway. The data stopped uploading to Solar Edge's website a few years ago but it did show each panel when it was working. Data is flowing fine to the Tesla App but it doesn't show per panel data.
Too bad you got hit with the two rainy days. The difference between the two days you used to compare output were a week apart and during the spring that probably means there was a difference of about 13 or 14 minutes of sunlight. I'm not sure how much energy that would produce, but it certainly would increase the total at least a little bit.
Thanks for watching! I took another look at the data for those two days (4/20 and 4/26) and even though there was likely those 13/14 minutes of extra daylight (per sunrise/sunset times) between the day I cleaned the panels 4/20 and the day I compared to following the cleaning 4/26, my generation length was the same both days (12h15m) from generation start to end. The only difference was that generation started and ended about 15 min later on 4/26 so the whole generation curve was just shifted forward by 15 minutes. The peak was higher following the cleaning by 0.3 kW. Based on the same generation length, I think any extra daylight would have been insignificant to the results. Thanks for pointing this out though. It was fun to go back and look again!
I was told enabling FSD won't ding your score even at late night driving. so, if your commute to work is every night(early morning) for a month and premium difference is over a $100. then subscribing FSD for $100 and keep the premium low would be ideal. Assuming FSD won't ding the late-night driving score.
Thanks for watching! In my experience so far, using FSD even within the late-night hours still dings my driving score. All other safety factors do not ding safety score when FSD is used like hard braking, aggressive turning, and unsafe following. Good idea with your method to cover FSD subscription with premium savings!
@@TeslaFamilyChannel oh bummer. Tesla should really consider this, then it's a win win for everyone. They get more subs, and you get to keep the low premium + FSD.
Thanks for the video.. im looking online its a bit past time for me to rotate tires.. i see some tire places do it for free, specifically discount tire big national chain - anyone ever get them done there for free ? Did it work ? For the same effort free vs 100 bucks - i like free? But dad always said nothing free lol
Thanks for watching! I always prefer Tesla service over any other shop. We paid good money for the best vehicle out there, so why risk any damage, mistakes, or shortcuts from a free service?
Who else is hear after their car got rear ended? To make matters worse the lady that rear ended my less than 2 mo old model y doesn’t have insurance .. so u would have to go with my Tesla insurance
Thanks for watching! Sorry to hear about the accident involving your Model Y. I am interested in hearing how everything works out with having to use your Tesla Insurance because I also now use them.
i live alone and i can never get 100% self powered even though i dont draw anything from the grid , its always 99% , i thought maybe its because i let it go back to the grind so i have been trying to use all the solar by leaving on an electric heater evenn though its a hot day , i do get paid more from my feed in tariff for the more i use more than if i export it . last week for a short time i had 107% ( i dont know how ) how can i get 100% ? (im in the UK ) thanks good video .
Thanks for watching! 99% is great, try to look closely at the individual graphs on your Tesla app for a day which you were 99% self-powered. See where that 1% is occurring. You should be able to find a slight spike on the grid import then you need to pin down what caused you to have to import.
@@TeslaFamilyChannel Hi many thanks for your quick answer , i only have a 4kw solar system but as i get paid more to use than export its a sunny day so ive plugged the car in put the washing machine on and running a 1kw heater and i can see on the app 1whatt is going to the grid , this often happens but my Hyundai Kona says its getting 2,5kw and the Zappi charger says nothing is going to the grid , i dont know how accurate the Tesla app is , im happy but its a bit confusing. im getting a heat pump soon with Air to Air heating so i can have the gas removed . over here we have a standing charge just to have a meter even if using no gas at all , that over £100 a year . right now im at max solar 4kw mid day 3.9kw to the house and 2 Watts to the grid Ediit its just stopped going to the grid an im getting 4 kw from solar and 4 to the house none to the grid , Edit i was going to get another Powerwall i paid £7.500 but they are over 12k now , maybe the V2 i have might come down now the V3 is here .
@@rodden1953 this sounds kind of like my SRECs but I get paid for them whether I use them or push them to the grid. To get 100% self powered, try this experiment. On a sunny day, try to use as little power as possible and allow the excess to go to the grid. That should definitely put you at 100%. Or you could add a Powerwall to store your excess and remove any lingering need to use the grid.
@@TeslaFamilyChannel Funnily enough for a long time after i had the Powerwall i did send most back untill i looked at my payment its like 15 pence for consumption and 5 pence for export its index linked so its about 25p now . This Torey government stopped it a few years ago , my electric company are really green and pay more to export now but im not sure if go with that i might loose the one im on that is guaranteed for 20 years , a friend of mine got solar years ago and he still gets 50 pence that over £800 a year . i will be glad to get rid of the gas soon . the whole thing is a mess with this government holding back on renewable energy.
Hi from Australia. Your RU-vid video really helped me decide whether to buy a handheld devicr or backpack device and I think because you described very clearly that your limited range and not being able to swap to the other side has submitted my view that I need to get a handheld device rather than a backpack device with similar capacity so I’m probably going to go with the 7650 which is a beast
Thanks for watching! I haven't actually timed the charge. It's not a fast charger so I'm gonna say a few hours but I've never run out of charge in the middle of a project. I just try and put it on the charger when I am finished.
Awesome! As the solar eclipse passed over Phoenix, AZ, everyone was looking at the sky, I was watching the Tesla Solar app, and seeing the power dip to 4.1 kWs, down from the normal 12.4 kWs. I wish RU-vid had pics we could attach as comments, I would add them! Great info, and cool totality video!
Thanks for watching and sharing your solar eclipse experience in Phoenix! Interesting that your -8kW dip from 12kW (~66%) is proportional to your ~65% sun obscuration!
What you need to replace the system depends on what is actually broken and what is working and whether or not the working components are still compatible with new components. A lot can and will change in 10 years. Here is the warranty information straight from Tesla. digitalassets.tesla.com/tesla-contents/image/upload/Powerwall_Warranty_US-EN.pdf
Thanks for watching! Have you driven/ridden in a Tesla? Full glass roof is like riding in a spaceship. So cool to look up as a passenger and see the world moving by above you. The frame structure of a Tesla is super strong.
Need mine replaced to. I want a Tesla one to. Should I get my windshield fixed like this thru Tesla app and not pay for it and let nationwide pay for it.
Thanks for watching! The SREC is generated at the beginning of the next month. So if you enter generation data for April today, that SREC will be available to sell on June 1 in GATS.
Thanks for watching! With Powerwall version 2 it used to be up to 10 but now with version 3 they are scalable. Up to 3 per "system" but you can add multiple systems to your home if you wish. I have a new video about Powerwall 3 here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DUO5eeir4sI.htmlsi=az11THZyOTchMnIs
Thanks for watching! I haven't tested them separately but my educated guess would be more range drop with FrontLoader because with both wheels on a bike, the bike sits higher on the roof and causes more drag. When I don't have to carry three bikes, my two HighSpeeds are my go-to setup.
Also here is a short video I did with two bikes in HighSpeed racks mounted to my Model 3. About 10% range loss. ru-vid.comAZKjeKHq4kQ?si=OXXmUE2NoZdgQXcO
My Indian engineer friend sold his House and he took off solar panels..and I purchased all.. he helped me install in my garage roof with 2 huge caterpillar batteries installed...works great in my 2 tesla😁 🕺
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the delayed reply. If you are filing electronically using an online tax service, they should offer this form as an attachment.
This is ridiculous! $149.00 for a beginners model Rocket, and a paltry 1/100 scale? It seems that EVERYONE seems to wish to push the little guy right out of life, and happiness. I MAY consider a 1/50 scale for that price.
