Short videos on how to fix , repair or refurbish stuff around the home and garage. Bikes , cars , vacuum cleaners. reviews on small hand and power tools, some new cars. Project building - Ebikes , salvaging batteries from other power tools to use. You get the idea. Also- recommend a video- you need something repairing, but dont know where to start- let me know -I'll have a go.
@@nitishtrikha5910 how long u need to stay? If just an hour- park on micklegate. If more- there’s a car park at rear of train station- not sure I would call it cheap- but non are in York now! If u don’t mind a walk- park further along Leeman rd- walk along river bank?
Great video thanks, wow, its an in depth job to get to the motor, took me about 45 minutes. I was removing it to sell on Ebay! I am not sure I would ever want to put one of these back together. I can imagine in the factory they put them together in about ten minutes....
We shouldn't be surprised really, but it doesn't help with keeping customers / brand loyalty. Ive found recently that Evolutionpowertools are really good, lots of tools use same battery. easily upgrade to bigger batteries aswel.
@@yorkknight egsactly ! I went and bought the cordless jigsaw come home to find out they have changed the battery from ‘ lithium system ‘ to ‘ solo ‘ and moved the pins slightly so you can’t just ram it in Utter bulllll
Hi, I recently refurbished a DC33 and the suction at the cleaner head is extremely weak. The suction at the wand is good. Do you know what it could be? Thanks!
@@niceandspicy3197 if you have good suction on hose- there's only a few areas that can stop the suction reaching the floor head part. mainly around the change over area , or the small flex hose underneath that can split. other than that - check the parts of floor head are all connected properly
What is battery part number? I have a MBAT18 -LI and can't get another charger for it unless buy a whole new drill. Bought it 3 years ago and hardly used it but can't find a compatible charger. Went in to B&Q to look and had a try but is different fitting
Thanks for this, I started by assuming the valve itself was faulty and was going to get a replacement. Glad now that I decided to troubleshoot first and found this video!
I'm guessing the 60v battery never happened and 5kw 72v was the go? I'm building a 4x4 velomobile with a 52v 2000w hub motor on each wheel 20x4 inch fat tyres and 8kw. Should be fun off road. It uses 4 batteries, one for each wheel and has 1600 discs and fully independent suspension.
Hi , I tried making a 90v battery and blew something- long story short- lost interest and moving house- so sold it! I am going to recreate something similar soon. Yours sounds a good project- keep up the good work
The second lot work out more eco than the "eco" at 50p ( 25p an hour at the bulk price ) an hour Vs the first one 60p an hour, what's the brand of the second lot ? I use wood fuel direct heat logs, those workout at around £1.09 each and cheaper in bulk, last around 1.5- 2 hours ish when I have the air closed off about half way and they give off a lot of heat
@@yorkknight The cost of some heat logs can be deceptive, it's the time they burn for is key, any idea about RUF ? Some sites don't state burn duration.
@@Rapid_GT I had never heard of rug before. I might try a few more makes in another video soon. I agree , burn rates are probably 1 of the most important factors- but hardly used. Ray
Hello, good video of the tear down. I was interested in replacing the handle lock mechanism. My vacuum is not standing upright and is the up19 which is similar to the dc40 if not the same. I really don't understand all this model numbers, but when I look up a part for the up19 it also shows compatible with the dc40. Thanks.
By taking that first bend out at 53", you'd actually fixed the problem. If you'd left it in the upright position you had it in at 1' 29" & replaced that first piece, it would have held it in the correct position & the Dyson would have stood upright perfectly. It was only the first piece you removed that prevented it. Someone had ovbiously removed it & refitted it incorrectly when the Dyson was in the angled position. I had exactly the same problem 10 minutes ago, & fixed it in 10 seconds.
Hi - it does show the battery details at the beginning = 12AH , 170a. I would say this is the minimum - a higher rated battery probably better though. Thanks Yorky
@@yorkknight I got a 200a car battery and still didn't work if I touch the 2 wires that goes to the switch it spark but when I put it on the switch and on it won't
Superb! As a visual learner as soon as you pointed out the area around 30/32 seconds I got the problem resolved just from just seeing that. Only removed that side piece & nothing else, basically the rest was irrelevant for how simple it was : ) Thanks!
Question for you? how do I replace the middle flexi hose, the one right under where the hinge is located which can see at 25min into your video please.
Hi- I presume you mean the 1 still inside the motor housing - it is possible to change without stripping the machine too much - but really awkward and the diverting mechanism keeps fighting you as you do it. I might do a video on just that part soon -if I get another dc40 or 41 in. It's held by tiny screws at each end. Have a go / or wait til I do a vid? Ray
Thought about doing the same, but that will just compound the issue of your filters clogging up and eventually your motor will burn to a crisp so not really a long term solution.
My dc 40 doesn't seem to have any suction in the dust bin. Remove blockage from the hose coming from roller and the hose connected for the wands. Next step is cutting the hair from roller but I doubt that's going to be the issue. Any suggestions or recommended reading? Thanks! Been a great help in trying to fix the hoover.
@@yorkknight I would pick up a wooden paint stirring stick from your local supplier and sand the edge for fitting. Then simply rub the stick back and forth, giving that the wood will present far less chance of damaging the metal conduit inlay. As you mentioned, that particular track section had received damage somewhere along the line and it was just passed off. Thanks for your channel.
Hi , Im in the process of doing a video about the place I buy my eco logs from- details in the video on how to buy / get them delivered- keep an eye out for it- Yorky
Hi - try Croft logs (nr York) - the recycled ones I use in the video- I know they do a great offer for bulk buy / transport costs work out not bad then aswell. Thanks Ray
All these gimmick videos on Dyson radial root technology vacuums doesn't reveal the hidden issues that do go wrong. Yes cyclone separation has its advantages, basically in the eye of those cyclone centrifugal chambers, the air is cleaner. However with centrifugal forces comes consequences. Over centrifugal and cinetic oscillation ( in the newer) ones causes the real fine dust to get imbedded in those foam gasket, in the hopper unit ( I call it ) and works its way through the tips. These fine micron particles as they swirl causes static cling because some of these become electrically charged and cling to the plastic, no matter how much cyclone activity, these particles will not work loose and become caked on the tips and nozzle chambers. Dyson doesn't need to over technologize vacuums. Another thing is yes when in use the air is cleaner and it is bagless it reduces need of a bag and filters, but at what cost. First of all these caked fine particles over time in the chambers still carries pathogens that can grow and migrate in the crevices of the vacuum. Bacteria like dark environments. Any humidity will add to the spread. Washing that cyclone chamber assembly is a bad move because now, the crevices won't dry properly and now you've added an environment for bacteria to grow. The foam gasket on top of that chamber needs to be removed. The 7 t8 torx screws needs to come off and that foam gasket needs to be thoroughly dried, because if you don't take that off crevice mold will develop. You may need to order a new gasket for the top. Taking all the gaskets and seals out and cleaning the chamber ring completely of dust film will destroy the odors. Best bet is to take all the plastic parts of that chamber assembly and put it out in the fresh air for 12 hours and let it air out. ( It does wonders) My take on this project is this. Bagless is not always better and overboard on the technology is not simplicity and causes more issues in a short time. Replacing bags and filters are cheaper than this service process. This type of service for Dyson is not cheap. I have a Meile that I use constantly and it's from the early 2000. Bags and filters are cheap. I also know people that have an electrolux canister from the 60s and they still can get components. One can still get Bags for a filter queen. But a Dyson dustbin or certain filters are pretty much obsolete.
Wow- thanks for your point of view. I dont view it as a gimmick video- more a quick guide for someone wanting to do a service / repair. I do agree that they are a bit over complicated- hence why they go wrong and the need for repair videos.
@York Knight it's not your video I'm talking about it's the Dyson commercial or engineering videos that are the gimmick videos. There's an individual that's posting videos about common myths on Dyson vacuums and he calls me a tribalist and racist and asks for proof of dustbins going cloudy from sandblasting. He says the vacuums are so go that the vacuums he sees never has cloudy dustbins or canisters. Sadly I can't post pictures in the comments.
Hi, if you watch thru- I do show the duct part / dissassembly- you should be able to do the part using the video. I will be doing more videos- so keep an eye out- thanks Yorky
Is there any chance you could post a video of how to put the hoover back together, just when you were dismantling the hoover I couldn’t see where the parts were from!
Great video. I need to replace the spring on the DC40 swivel lock. Could you show a close up detail of the spring and how it fits? Mine disappeared! Thanks.
