My dc 40 doesn't seem to have any suction in the dust bin. Remove blockage from the hose coming from roller and the hose connected for the wands. Next step is cutting the hair from roller but I doubt that's going to be the issue. Any suggestions or recommended reading? Thanks! Been a great help in trying to fix the hoover.
Hello, good video of the tear down. I was interested in replacing the handle lock mechanism. My vacuum is not standing upright and is the up19 which is similar to the dc40 if not the same. I really don't understand all this model numbers, but when I look up a part for the up19 it also shows compatible with the dc40. Thanks.
Is there any chance you could post a video of how to put the hoover back together, just when you were dismantling the hoover I couldn’t see where the parts were from!
Great video. I need to replace the spring on the DC40 swivel lock. Could you show a close up detail of the spring and how it fits? Mine disappeared! Thanks.
Hi - FAB video and very informative. Do you have any basic videos for removing the whole wand from the motor & ball at the bottom? Hopefully its a bit simpler than the strip down in this film? thanks DPG
Hi , I presume you mean the spine- as the wand just slides out! I will do a few more "quick" videos for various little jobs like this asap. Thanks - and please subscribe- if you havent - then you wont miss it- Yorky ps- the spine is connected by 3 xt15 screws , but the wire needs feeding thru.
Thank you for a fascinating and informative video. I have a DC40 which is about five years old. It is having problems with intermittent power to the brush head. When the handle is within 10 degrees of vertical there is no problem but when the handle is pulled back the circuit seems to break. Connection between the head and the main body are fine. I can see from your video how to reach the wiring loom but I would like to know if, having reached that stage, would it be reasonably easy to find the loose connection and repair it. Any suggestion you may have will be appreciated.
Hi , I agree- it seems like a bad wire ( or maybe the tilt activation switch?)- If the wire is breaking- you should be able to- either replace that part of the loom- or cut and repair the area? Hope that helps- Yorky
Just for reference, I know it's late, but this is the problem I've had and the wire had broken through so when tight it worked but when stretched it broke.. £11 replacement (approx) a bit of a fiddle but worth it. Repairing would be difficult but is possible - you'd have to replace a section of wire as there's only just enough to reach
Hi, if you watch thru- I do show the duct part / dissassembly- you should be able to do the part using the video. I will be doing more videos- so keep an eye out- thanks Yorky
Question for you? how do I replace the middle flexi hose, the one right under where the hinge is located which can see at 25min into your video please.
Hi- I presume you mean the 1 still inside the motor housing - it is possible to change without stripping the machine too much - but really awkward and the diverting mechanism keeps fighting you as you do it. I might do a video on just that part soon -if I get another dc40 or 41 in. It's held by tiny screws at each end. Have a go / or wait til I do a vid? Ray
I have a corded DC40 & the brush bar is on all the time even in upright position, the brush bar on off switch next to power switch does nothing, I've tested the brush bar switch & it is working. Any idea why brush bar is constantly on? Many thanks.
@@yorkknight, excellent thank you, I thought there must be a second switch somewhere, I will endeavour to find it. Appreciate you taking the time to get back to me.
