I love exploring the mind through music, meditation, and creative works. I recently started a band called LemonTech, and I'm always trying to learn more about music by listening to anything and everything, so feel free to recommend some new artists or songs!
O.K. you two this is my first visit to your channel. Danny Carey is a true master of his craft! The first section is him warming up. You two will see what I mean in a bit. Keep in mind that Danny has been playing drums for over 50 years. No darn wonder he is good!! Take note of his hand speed as this video progresses. Other drummers are amazed with this video and they are pros! Not some want-a-bees... My favorite part is coming up -- watch for the overhead light to begin to flash. When the lights do Danny breaks it OUT!! How strong does your back & core have to be to work those double bass drums like that?? This man is in a class all by himself. I like how he does ALL of that, puts his sticks on the snare, and fixes his hair.... Thanks!!!
To be fair, this is the song where people usually go hit the bathroom. It's an ok song, but Phish have a lot of different sounds. It's the live jams that people live for. Try a Tweezer.
It is vaguely startling to have something titled Urban Shaman willingly admit that they've never heard of Phish and only a handful of Dead songs; but that is likely just an indication of where we are at as a nation currently, and that I'm not that much longer for this planet. Please do yourselves a favor and spend as much time as you can tolerate with the greatest band that ever was. Your ears will thank you!
I really enjoy your reactions. The people who get very technical about what fifth of a chord they're jumping or what 15th of a measure -- they're okay and increase my awe, but that's not really my field of understanding. So just to see another human being taking real joy in the music, while playing long stretches without interruption-- it's good. Thank you. I like having someone to groove along with. Not all my loved ones share all my musical fascinations.
The funny thing is, no synthesizers were used. Most of the effects you think may be a synth, is actually Tom on his guitar with his own custom made pedals.
Anybody playing drums or that are into rock have seen this video. It's just a bit suspicious how this industry of reacting to videos take the viral things that most have seen and seems like, pretending to never have seen it before. It kind of Cringes my nerves a lot.
The synthesizer part is the bass guitar. There is a lot of bass parts that gets dismissed as a guitar tool is a bass and drums driven band. I have watched a lot of tool reactions and I have never ever. Heard any love for the base it’s sad
Everything he does is so tasteful and perfectly timed. The colors and textures of this song have helped to open my eyes to doing things different and find new avenues. Thank you Danny. Oh, and in my opinion he IS the best alive today.
"He's so good it makes me uncomfortable" The most accurate statement ever on Danny. Around like 12:45 you both start talking about Danny is the best drummer around, polyrhythm wise etc and time sig's, Terry Bozzio has 14 foot pedals and is the King of Limb Disassociation, now a step abouve Bozzio is Grant Collins from Aust, he has more foot pedals that Bozzio and is described in magazines as "sounding like a whole village of percussionists playin at once". Very primal and tribal. Trust me i know drummers of all genres. Danny is center stage live and the highlight upfront panned up the middle in mixes.
