Hey there! I'm a multi-instrumentalist and music producer from Maine, USA. I've been lurking musically for many years, but I'm finally ready to get my music out there and try to launch a music career.
I could use all the support I can get, so if you like what you hear, please like, comment, share & subscribe! It all helps!
I'm a jazz-trained saxophonist, but have been picking up many other instruments over the years, like piano, mandolin, guitar, cittern, hammered dulcimer, bodhrán, and most recently singing.
I grew up listening to folk music, and I like to blend folk with jazz and also strong rhythms. I have a deep love for the Earth and want to weave that connection into my music.
I've got a lot of originals in the works - you can click the "Get New Music Updates" link to sign up for email updates so you don't miss anything!
Thanks so much for joining me on this musical journey! 👋 ❤️ 🌎
Thanks Pierre!! It means a lot to have a nice comment from a fellow cittern / mandolin / bodhrán player! It was a good excuse to go back and listen to some of your beautiful mando and cittern tunes. Keep up the beautiful music! By the way what bodhran did you end up getting? It sounds really great. Mine's solid but it's not taped like yours, which seems to offer a great and different sound
@@DevinMooers Thank you so much for the kind words! And right back at you! I currently own a Seamus O'Kane drum that I bought second hand. It does the job, and I do recommend taping in any case :) I've also been lent a drum by Kévin Garnier, French maker, which I much prefer in sound and size (15" instead of 16" I believe). I ought to record it soon!
I never expected this to be so good. Wish you the best Devin, and I'm looking forward to listening to your original music. Also, the saxo and voice run at 2:21 is so clean!
The number of people who have the musical skills to play this many instruments, especially to the level which both Jacob Collier and Devin Mooers are able to do, are very few indeed worldwide. My ghast is flabbered! Excellent cover, and once again hats off to you, Devin. I'm curious to know in which country you're based..?
At last - a cover version which uses the complex modulations of key which happen about 2/3rds of the way through Jacob's own version of his own song. Hats off to Devin, who demonstrates a rare ability as a super-talented multi-instrumentalist.
Hey thanks Tim! Loved the challenge of figuring out all those chords. I also did a cover of Jacob's Hideaway recently if you like that song! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KvLcWmTJ1Tk.html&ab_channel=DevinMooers
Wow fantastic version, congratulations! I made a version in Spanish, I hope you like it, Greetings from Argentina! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_Kbp_owaczY.html
IN OUR BONES by Devin Mooers: Reminiscent of a gentle walk in a misty green with Simon & Garfunkel echoing CSN&Y harmonies and dreamlike melodies. Where a free-spirited flute chimes in singing to the sky it’s song of life. Shadowed by a chorus of ancient spirits calling to the muse, beckoning her to bring forth the joy of long-forgotten Irish jigs whose melodic roots are buried deep within the mystical tones of jovial Celtic dance rhythms… PEACE / vOz 😊
Yet again another fantastic rendition!! I really appreciate the artistry you put into these. Whenever you're back to making videos, I'd love to hear your take on Jacob's song "Make Me Cry" if you're up for it!
Hey thanks Joshua! I totally forgot about that song, but that's a great one, right up my alley. Maybe after I get my first album done I will think about doing videos again 🙂
Thanks, glad it had that effect! Such a unique album. I don't know if I've ever listened to it straight through, should probably do that at some point!
Thanks Iver! Love that simile, chocolate is one of my absolute favorite foods. 😁 Something very different coming up very soon, but I'm not planning a video for it - Spotify or my newsletter would be good places if you're curious and you're not following me on either of those or another DSP! Be well 🙂
Inverse Doom!! Lovely instrumentation & attention to detail as always! I loved the cryptic text at the end and the awesome DIY logo! More of this please. Excited for original tunas! Love from Bham <3
Thanks cuz, glad you liked it!! Had fun with that ending bit. The logo was fun to make - I took a photo of a pen drawing, brought it into Pixelmator, then took screen capture movies of me "animating" frames by scrolling through different layer transfer modes. I composited a few of such movies with different transfer modes and a bit of glow and it came out pretty cool!!
