Thanks again for making this video, I have watched it at least 6 times now. I just bought 2 Shehds 10R beams and now I should be ready to go once they arrive. I hope you are well and I'll let you know when I actually use my lights in my next magic show. 💥BOOM!!!💥™
Watched your video of the one song that you sequenced and I too found myself "distracted" by the moving heads. They really steal the show but are a fantastic effect! Thanks for the heads up and I will apply the same idea with my cheepie moving heads. They won't be as impressive as your bright ones, but still should have some kind of effect. How long does it take for you to sequence a song? and how long have you been using xLights? This was my first year and I learned TONS! and it took me a very long time, being my first year 2022. But with all that I have read/watched/tried, sequencing should go a little bit faster for me. The info about layer blending really helped also! Thanks!
I just have 4 cheepies moving heads, but this video REALLY helped me get them into Xlights. Thanks! I am interested in the inflatable covers for them though.. where have you found them? Amazon? or other places?
Thanks!! When you asked Alexa to start the show, she turned on my hot water recirc pump as that was the closest thing to start the show that she understood.... funny!
Well I finally got my other half to let me use our mini moving heads in our show this coming yr. How do sequence a ripple effect to get the lights to cut on and off going from one side to the other
do you have that paperwork that shows the details of the heads? Mine did not come with them and need to try and figure out the settings. Any help would be great!
Hi your video is one of the most clear ones ! Thanks for posting this! One question i have a problem re mapping other sequences when other vendors have the pan on 0 and i have it on 270. Do you know how to fix that?
Thanks for the information on these heads. Are these heads really waterproof? I live in Dallas, Tx area and we get a lot of strong wind and rain storms during Nov/December. Have you had any issues with them since your last show?
@@Thesighnpainter I running "Ladies and Gentlemen" by Saliva. It was in the Halloween folder but it seemed like it could be used for just about any occasion.
Great stuff. At last... I was missing a step that I just overlooked and you helped me get my moving head going. Crazy I was able to get them going much simpler years ago in LOR, but now have the key in Xlights going. Carry on, and Thank you for your informative video.
Sorry, I know it's not related to this video per-say, but would you mind sharing where those skeleton heads came from? They look awesome... as is the video... dying to add some moving heads to my display.
This is a pretty great video and I appreciate it. As you mentioned, this part of the hobby seems to be blowing up. I think I'm going to order 2 or 4 of them and this setup video really helped on that decision. You the real MVP!
Did you have vendor information you could share for where you got them? Do you know the IP rating on them? We often times get the extreme downpour with 50mph winds.
Sorry for the late reply, I was out camping! We get big dust storms and crazy wind gusts in AZ. They sat out in a few storms between Halloween and Christmas and didn't have any issues. I'm adding the link to the description.
What a seriously great walkthrough of how to sequence DMX Moving Heads with xLights! I tried to watch so many other videos including the xLights seminars but nothing clicked like your video just did for me! Keep up the great sequencing!
@@seanleonard1707 not yet. I'll try to do that today actually. If not, I'd be more then happy to do a zoom video conference with you to help you figure out what's going on with your setup.
can you do a basic tutorial on how to get started with ST anything? i already have the DTH's setup i used auto linking to Dan's github to setup the DTH,i have the proper versions of arduino IDE and the boards manager installed i have the libraries installed f and i have the example sketches installed to my sketchbook from the github repo , but i am clueless on what to do next , i want to use wemos D1 mini's to make just a sensor only , PIR or RCWL radar but no clue on how to proceed or use the smart app or which example sketch i need for my board or how to edit the code so that it functions as a stand alone sensor only
I'm about to add an ESP8266 to my electronic dog door, so I can try and record that process. But your best bet would be to use the "search this topic" option on the ST_Anything post for Wemos. I've seen a few people having trouble that were able to get it resolved. Dan is really good at responding.
@@Thesighnpainter i did that and came up with nothing , there is absolutely no documentation on how to to use this project at all , he gave detailed instructions on how to get the DTH installed and how to setup arduino IDE but then nothing beyond that on how to actually use it so i have no clue what i am supposed to do next here, someone should do a video on the basic setup , like which example sketch to use and how to get the devices added to ST after you get the sketch uploaded to the board
@@andreamitchell4758 I started with the ESP8266 multiples sketch and just deleted the sensors I wasn't using. I can send you the sketch I used for this project.
@@Thesighnpainter ok thanks so when you say deleted the sensors you were not using do you mean in ST or that you edited the sketch? what happens if i do not edit the sketch? does everything show up automatically in ST? i have no idea how to even go about adding the stuff to ST after the sketch is uploaded to the board , it never tells you, i though t read something about a smart app but then i also thought read that you don't need it anymore so not sure if that is old information also not sure how to edit someof the wifi credentials in the multiples sketch like how do i get the device IP if i need to enter it to get the board on my wifi? do i leave it blank and then try to see if it shows up on my client list? also not sure what i am supposed to enter for DNS server, is this an optional thing? do i leave it blank? same with the hubitat hub IP , i don't even know what a habitat is, do need to delete this from the cone or change example, IP or just leave it alone? there is just way too much going on here, i wish he just made some simple example sketched for people who just use ST and who just want a single thing for a single board
@@andreamitchell4758 haha wow! Yeah they do kinda gear it towards people who have already been playing with the Smartthings IDE. First step is to edit the sketch to match what sensors are on what pins, and change the WiFi credentials to match yours. If all goes well after upload and it connects to your WiFi, you should see in the serial monitor that it's connected. On the smart things side, all you have to do is create a new device and select ST_Anything as the type. Once you create it and open it in the Smartthings app, all you do is put in the IP address and it will automatically detect what sensors are connected and configure the device children for you. When I get home from work I'll send you my sketch and you can compare what I changed. Ignore anything Hubitate related if you're using Smartthings.
Cool set up man, im.new to this could you point me in the direction if I wanted to use something like this to remotely use a spark ignitor like on a bbq grill
Yeah! You could use a momentary activation for a relay similar to the garage door sketch. Head over to community.smartthings.com/t/release-st-anything-v2-9-2-arduino-esp8266-esp32-to-st-via-thingshield-ethernet-or-wifi/77707 The author is quick to respond if you need to troubleshoot.
