as a black man who has many asian friends, druski had me pissed off with the way he treated ray the entire stream. i think it’s crazy how when my people (black people) experience any type of racism, profiling, or stereotypical encounters with others, it hurts and it’s a problem right?? and rightfully so. absolutely nobody wants to be treated unequally just because of their skin color or race/ethnicity. but when that same person who’s stereotyped is in the same room as someone of a different race, that somehow gives you the right to give them the same treatment YOU receive?? so if druski is walking down the street with let’s say a subway sandwich and a older white man looks him dead in his eyes and says, “what’s in the bag? fried chicken and watermelon?” that means he can turn around and say ray, AN ASIAN BOY should do a monologue from karate kid or rush hour?? which by the way might i add, are two stupid ass examples because neither the original or remake of the karate are starring an asian person (original a white boy from jersey and the remake a black boy from detroit.) and jackie chan (rush hour) is from hong kong ISLAND. which is related to hong kong china but is not directly apart of china itself. my point is, if you experience racism, don’t put that same pain YOU experience onto someone else. especially someone as young as as ray. PS: if ray looked at druski and called him the n word, druski would’ve been butt hurt.
I’m hoping against hope that Ray always remembers wtf Kai did for him and his family and that he is always appreciative. Kai could have left him on the sidewalk and kept it pushing but instead he literally gave this boy a career others can only dream of. W Kai forever
