I wonder if this can help me? I have the same truck and local dealer wants to replace the CECU module just so my ac system gets the signal it is not receiving when you activate the switches
Just watched this. Glad it’s still up. Thanks. I was in a shop not long ago and the mechanic had a tool like yours for checking the wires for voltage. He bought it at harbor freight but said the same thing invaluable
Great step by step diagnosis . My 2.8 L 1987 Chevy Celebrity cut out with no warning while driving . I towed it home with a rope . It had spark , fuel pressure and injector pulse . While doing a visual , I noticed a bit of dirt and oil from age near the crank sensor . I unplugged it and cleaned the connector and terminals with brake clean . It started immediately . I didn't notice oil leaking from the sensor . Just a dirty connector . I enjoy the videos . I hope you are doing well , it's been a while .
I found this video to be excellent. The camera angles were great, even though I'm sure the camera location was a PITA! I feel ready to tackle this job in the morning. Thanks so much for taking the time to make this video :)
Joe What were the symptoms ? I got a 2001 t&c That intermittently Barely makes it home after long drives no codes no power Everything has been done Sensors Wires plugs Coil packs 02 Pcv Egr Throttle body is clean etc etc Needs a Muffler Cat Supposedly is Clean . (Gonna Scope it soon ) But runs ok never gets hot on gauge. Suspecting the issue you fixed sorta .
What would be cool if it tells you the resistor of 60ohms good or 120ohms open of your communications. Maybe on the 2 they will. For 200$ pluse I'll wait for that option.
Thank you Joe for this work, my 2012 VW Routan has the same error code: P0480 P0693, P0692, P0691, according the circuit diagram, test the fan working connection like this: By pass the Fan Low Speed relay at 30,87(short 30,87 in K11 Relay), the Fan works at 8A current By pass the Fan High speed relay at 3,5 (short Fan High speed relay at 3,5), the Fan works fast at 30A current Check two relay are good situation, switch can be active with 9V power source, and the switch can be turn on. So all these parts are good: 2 Relay, fuse J19, fuse M34, Fan resistor, Fan, and all this part cable The cable Fuse j19 to K11 relay 85 is connection. The only can be problem is K11 86 cable and the "circuit board", but this part can't be diagnose like you said Could you find some thing about the "circuit board" in your circuit diagram? Thanks
Yea, well, a "professional" I hired and paid damn near $600 to fix my EVAP issue, never found it. Instead, he replaced parts that had nothing to do with the issue. I didn't feel like arguing with him because, obviously, he knew more than me 🙄. Still have the EVAP issue, and I'm not paying an assload of money to get ripped off again. I'll just let my POS run until it can't.
@@JoesAutoElectric no worries brother. The good Lord shall provide. I have 2 Northstars cranking but won't start and it's something between the fuel pump and relay circuit due to where the fuse box is located and the back seat bracket damaging the box. Between the grounding issues and the coolant system this makes me want to stick with pre backseat battery Northstars 😭. But yes, I could sense the authentic concern for humanity in the video and related it to my own sentiment at the time. It's now more evident than ever that they don't care about us and all health statements and precautions should be taken with a grain of salt instead. Hindsight is 20/20 but I just thought that I would share my empathy for the foolishness that ensued and cost us all. I appreciate your time and effort for these repairs.🤙💯🙏
Literally just had fuel pump replaced by ford dealer in my 01 ranger, a day later i got a p0442 code, now i can go check their work thanks to this vid... You da man!
Good video, Joe. You earned a subscriber. I just had the same type prob on a Silverado. The entire fuse box pops out so replacement was easy on that repair.
Check the fuse is not blown first. Make sure the polarity is correct, and connections are secured. If it is not one of these things, you will need to email ElMod directly to send the board to them to repair.
Thank you so much. Now I know how to fix it. One more question, how I can safely remove the fuse on the elmod board. I just afarid to destroy the whole board lol
That’s are biggest problem. We have all these companies selling parts but no one knows what they are selling and what part goes to what. It’s ridiculous and sad. And most of us that want to work can’t because of some excuse from the companies.
Bought this years ago thanks to your video. Got the 2nd gen now. Not much improvement from the first. As cars get more sensitive electronics its proven to be invaluable. I can even use this on circuits that aren't intended for the tool and then just hook up multimeter to do the old school calculation and verify. Recently saw that Power Probe came out with a Power probe Draw. It maintains memory and measures electrical draw at the OBD II port. I can see some potential issues but I'm glad more tools being developed to troubleshoot these problems b
You found the main problem with the wireing and that explained the hot lug.I keep a 100 amp breaker for this situation.$20 worth of wire loom from the first mechanic would have prevented a major pita.Good job on your troubleshooting!
Thank You, even though it didn't help me with my particular problem, it was nice to see there are still some "Real Mechanics" out there doing the right thing when repairs are needed and done.
