Awesome. Never been in a big rig, semi-truck, tractor...but I'd love to do that some day. Fascinating, the options for operating such a transmission. Ever since I was a kid, the best thing about big rigs, aside from the air horns (!) has been the Jake brakes. I never knew the Jake was on while shifting up to get that sound (my Harley sounds like that when I shift up). I'm amazed you didn't even tap that pickup! BTW, you have the whitest set of choppers! Thanks for such an in-depth video! Safe travels to you.
Great video , valuable information . I pick up my truck Friday 6/7/24 . Basic , 10 speed but that's good enough to get started . Thank you for the tutorial and being real about it .
I seen ya on the super expensive road the other day lol recognized the truck from the eastbound side. Looked like you had a load of armour stone going westbound maybe heading for the 401
They can't even get normal autonomous cars to use stoplights effectively. I can't imagine them getting trucks to be able to back up in any environment anytime soon.
Click bait, I’ve heard better sounding trucks on RU-vid but something about watching a driver behind the wheel shift and drive is just “oddly satisfying”
I have one question: Why do you build your houses along major roads in America/Canada? Is it really not possible for anyone to build a house 5-6 km away from the highway? There is a lot of space!
Ich selbst bin gelernter "Trucker" (in germany we say Berufskraftfahrer). 17 Jahre. ;)
@@callthemall You would probably enjoy watching 'Outback Truckers' down here in Australia. Where as it's freezing temperatures, rain, snow and dodgy drivers for you to contend with, it's high temperatures, fine dust or mud and dodgy wildlife down here. Seems a lot of drivers are always dealing with adversity of some kind.
As a non-truck driver (but a total gear-head car guy) I'm completely mesmerized by the shifting pattern and sequence... And the Jake Brake... so freak'n cool. And the turbo... Gosh. Such a lovely sound.
Just a lil thing bout tarping inside during the winter, if offered try your darndist to say no .... the tarps get warm and you will get ice when you're rollin, or ice rollin on your head at worse, or the corners freeze like cement and cant peel em off........ great vid, great job 👏 👍✌️
roundabouts are only a US truck problem, in the EU everyone can go around roundabouts even if our trucks are bigger. not the cab, but the truck is bigger. the wheelbase of a us truck with a nose is just *long* for no reason.
Dude, I've been meaning to ask for a while - I keep thinking your channel name combined with the hair and your profile picture must be a nod to old-days Cliff Burton and/or James Hetfield. Am I on the right track at all with that?
Ah good lead but not quite the origins! My name is Call The Mall. Little 2007 me created it on a whim way back when I started this channel, thinking “you can’t call the mall, you can call the stores within the mall, but you can’t actually call the mall itself.” (Turns out you totally can)... Haha.
They're human beings as well.... but they still gave you a ticket because they didn't like the sound of your muffler.... I have never pulled any cars over due to loud mufflers, theres no expectation to... think that guy just was having a bad day.... then again maybe its enforced heavily over there. But sound has never been a reason I've pulled anyone over/given a ticket.
Holy smokes, one of the better truck drivers in the world right there. Backing up a single trailer many fail at, but a B double? That was amazing to me.
if you are feeling you are slipping, stop changing gear and keep 1 gear until you start to feel it flatten out. and yes roads are usualy more slippery when plowed, as in snow you have grip, in slush/water--> ice you dont.
Hi Ya , I think us old fellas (72 ) who have been owner drivers me since 1978 and ex mechanic have done repairs and mods to there trucks need to pass on the knowledge to others . one mod im sure would help is shit trap tanks . these catch all the water from the vast amount of condensation every day dirt too ! under the front of the tank usually the lowest part . I got a 8x6" box 2" deep with a drain plug . drill a hole about 3/4" in the main tank that must drop in the centre of the shit trap to stop flow back . with any movement of the truck at all the tanks will be cleaned 24/7 . all you need to do once a year or so drain into a bucket all the crap . water can do damage to your pump n injectors so you get protection with no down time . your filters will have to clean the microns of dirt found in cloudy diesel . so your filters last longer too . I ran a Cummins 430 and i only changed my filter when I felt her tugging then Ide find a down hill , swap the filter and rubber new filter dry get her rolling 4th drop the clutch 3 seconds she running . over 30yrs of using the shit traps never had problems with pump or injectors ... Good luck with the junk ... Kevin Fullard
Could you explain how you are able to back up the double? My non trucker brain doesnt understand when you turn left and right and the last trailer moving in one direction while the first trailer remains in one direction until you turn a bit more.
Planning on keeping this one as my personal truck for as long as I can, just keep rebuilding it. As for other trucks I would consider, the Edison motors diesel electric hybrid is a very intriguing truck!
I never understood why the assholes park with their headlights on, makes it more difficult backing in next to them. Just park with your runnings lights on if you’re going to leave the truck running.
