Well hello there- Join me won’t you, on a journey of discovery. Beginning with making my/friends NES’s work again (2014); I then moved onto fixing more than NES’s at a video game store (2015). Much of what I've learned thus far has been gathered from YT and trial error. The beautiful thing about fixing video game store consoles is that you can figure things out without worrying about destroying them, It was considered broken anyways. I spent 4 years fixing retro consoles and 1 1/2 years fixing new gen consoles. Although I do a little soldering from time to time, I’m mainly a parts swapper. Board repair, so far, is outta my league but I’m looking to change that. Maybe even do something crazy like getting certified. Who knows. Even though I swap parts, one specialty of mine is disc drives. I seem to have a knack for fixing weird issues. Also I’m amazed what a cleaning can do. Most fixes are made from cleanings. Or thermal paste replacements, of which I lay the perfect amount…
@@xiolaaz im not a fan of canned air because it sprays moisture too. An air compressor is what I prefer. It helps blow out all of the debris that’s inside. If you don’t use any air then I would try using contact cleaner spray instead of rubbing alcohol.
@@shadowclaw8607 its either you received a faulty card reader or there’s something wrong on the motherboard related to the card reader. I haven’t come across this one yet but if it happened to me I would first make sure I plugged it all in correctly. If it still did it I’d then remove the reader and inspect the connectors on the motherboard for damage. It’s easy to F them up. I hope this provides some help.
If you already tried cleaning off the silicone contacts and the contacts on the motherboard for the d-pad and you still get absolutely nothing for right, then there is either a problem with the motherboard or the cord somewhere.
@@dap9001 depending on severity it can tack on another hour or so to the job. Skill will determine speed. It’s certainly not uncommon for a tech to keep it an extra day for testing purposes so you don’t get something back that breaks quickly because “a thing wasn’t done right”. I hope all works out!
I NEEDED this video. The new parts are great BUT the hole in the bowl for holding one of the gears is too small on all 3 of my sets. A lil boring with a P5 bit did the trick! Pro tip for anyone else who might read this. Check if you need to grind plastic away anywhere BEFORE you start slathering lube everywhere. Or don't, I'm not here to kink-shame anybody
That's where it goes. Just showing it for all those who wonder what the noise is after goin into their disc drive. When a "noob" works on a disc drive for the first time, they often don't know about that spring and get it caught in the gears.
store.kitsch-bent.com may send international but I’m not sure. If you look anywhere else, They call them gears so use that in your search terms. Good luck!
My N64 has audio and no video. It has been cleaned. I'm using a CRTV and have played a different N64 on this same TV. I have also tried multiple AV cables. Any help is appreciated.
@@jamesscarborough77 your issue will be on the motherboard. I’m not sure what is faulty though. Could be bad capacitors or even a bad chip. Sorry I couldn’t be more help. You can try a different jumper pak, it’s worth a shot.
1mm thickness. I highly recommend changing the stock pads. Big difference. Before, I was puzzled why some PS4’s still got loud even after changing the paste. When I started changing the pads as well, I noticed the fans don’t get loud anymore.
I've got two of those laptops. The build quality is absurdly good. Makes you wonder why they overengineered them so much(?) I hit this video because I'm about to change the fan on unit #2 now. I know what I'm doing but always just check youtube for any "gotcha's".
If the stick isn't all messed up then theres no need. Out of around 20 controllers that I fixed up, zero needed stick replacing. Mainly it's the 2 gears and occasionally the bowl needs replacing.
Just something to note, the cheap off brand cr2032 batteries dont last very long, had some die after only a few months whereas the original lasted over 10 years.
It could be several things when it comes to this. Depending on what the issue is, it’s possible grease would help but probably not. I’d check to make sure everything is plugged in right and there was not anti static solder I was supposed to remove. There are also different laser models. They are not compatible through the variants of the super slims. You have to order the exact right one. I believe there are 2 different lasers to choose from.
Thanks for answer. Do You know where i can check The compatibility? I bought a KES-850A, which the seller said it is compatible with the ps3 superslim CECH4011B, which is my console's model. I suppose i don't need to restore my ps3 system to the news lens to work, right?
@@RetroFix Oh, got it, thank you for answering me, I'll try to apply it next to the border, if my lenses have this coating, it will not be ruinned completly.
My Ps4 been working real good. one morning tired play game disk drive would make any running noise to pull disk in.. want do anything to take a game inside. So i purchased new disk drive put in it. Still does something you don't hear the running noise to pull dish in. Could something else went out on it.? Thanks”
I don't know what model ps4 you have but if it's an early model where the disc drive has a daughter board on it, then it could be an issue with that board. You can't replace them because they are "married" to the motherboard. If it's a later model ps4 without disc drive daughter board then it could be a fuse on the motherboard.
So little thing i wanna mention...a few little things actually 1 i have rage and stress issues so you could guess i hit my controller here and there but the function almost seems the same nothing feels too broken... except for the drift 2 i completely play without the stick top bc idk why but it cause worse drift than normal...and some are broken (i got 2 headsets bc one broke and my parents don't think the dev of the quest 2 will replace it for free) 3 i have no compressed air at all and i don't think there's any kind of alcohol with a eye dropper syringe to get far that deep will alcohol pads work instead?
You could guess for 1 I wanna know if the rage could break something else first before breaking the joystick And 2 is there anything I should worry about (other than need to probably clean more) with have the joystick off
A dollar store may have something you can put isopropyl in to make it easier to squirt in there. Really though you could let droplets run down into it from your finger and it should work. Canned air would suffice to blast out the rubbing alcohol and the debris trapped in there. If nothing helps with the drift then I would assume the stick has more serious issues and needs replacing.
Alr bro all u gotta do is turn ur Xbox up side down then band on it to get dust out not to hard tho cause mine wouldn’t turn on so I banged it more to bring it back thank me later
