My library offers DVD’s for $1. I’m so happy about that. I scored the Parasite Blu ray the Sam Rami Spider-Man trilogy for $1 each. Amongst many others Lincoln, Life of Pi, Chocolat. Life by David Attenborough.

I love this film. And after discovering that George Miller wrote and shot quite a few scenes that sadly had to be removed from the final cut I love it even more. BTW Do you recognise some of the locations that you see in the film?If I'm not mistaken the airport scene is Sydney Airport

The majority of the film was in Robertson, NSW and Fox (now Disney) Studios in Sydney, but there are plenty of exterior shots around the Rocks and Sydney Hospital.

My movie collection is an extension of myself. When I like something on streaming, but can’t purchase it, I will never form as strong of a connection with it and will likely forget about it entirely.

I doubt it. That format still sells the most physical copies. I think it's because more people are familiar with it. There really was no need for 4K Blu-ray. I have watched a bunch and if you have the same master between 4K and Blu-ray, the Blu-ray looks 99% the same. I think they only wanted 4K Blu-ray because they realized the piracy game was lost with DVD and Blu-ray and up until maybe two years into it, they were impossible to copy.

Everything goes extinct at some point. Physical media like discs will be lost eventually. The only way to play it will be on aging hardware that is decaying and no longer being made. At some point that won't work either and far enough down the road none of it will be around. Nothing lasts forever. Just think 100 years from now, a thousand years from now. Future generations will look back on this technology and get a good laugh and read about it in school as part of ancient history.

@roadtonowherefilms I think back in those days, parents blindly assumed that just because it was animated or had animation in it, that it meant it was for kids lol nope!!! My ex (God rest his soul) watched the movie 'Heavy Metal' when he was a little kid and it definitely was NOT meant for kids by any stretch of the imagination!!🤦🤦😂😬 Great old school animated movie tho, AMAZING WORK OF ART (if you haven't seen it def watch it) but absolutely for adults only!!😅😅👍👍

I have dropped all physical media. Didn't want to devote a room in my house to media. Didn't want to be susceptible to fire/theft. I never fell for Netflix or other streaming services. Didn't want someone dictating what I can/can't watch, where and when. Nope, been a pirate for almost 30 years. Over 6,500 movies, over 1,600 TV series, complete game ROM collections for arcade and my favorite consoles and god knows how much music. If I am comfy in bed, I don't need to get up and switch physical content, I can from the comfort of my bed switch between different content on my media server. I can hold the backup of my entire collection literally in the palm of my hands.

People are buying vinyls again, dvd and bluray will never die. It will however likely become more and more niche to the point where one day it'll only be possible to buy them online and in a handful of second hand stores and bookstores

Making films dvd and streamers tie making streams repeatedly nondvd is like people all trick shooting all at once, they don't prefer buying the service unless it has one thing to do with. being the streaming service out of question but they do want dvds out of laxism as hard as the streaming is even localized in streaming.

The argument for Physical media should fall under the banner of *'OWNERSHIP'* and a 'RIGHT TO OWN' act be developed. a "Right to own" system to deal with DRM and media as a service. ALL corporate publishers MUST at least provide an offline DRM-Free option be it physical media or DRM-Free ditial to consumers for all media/games for the duration for that media/software sales life. Publishers can charge extra to cover costs etc...but they must make the option easy and accessible for consumers. Consumers will be informed of this option and understand what they BUY they own and functions more or less the same as when they bought it. i.e. is independent of corporate servers and services to operate. NOT DRM. Preservation and backups for personal use will be left to the responsibility of the consumers.

Excellent video. We are now living in the age of Editorial Tampering. Our words and thoughts must all be pre-filtered before they’re filtered again. And it’s all happening at such frightening speed. I still have novels, records, laserdiscs, and compact discs from the past fifty years and will never part with them because someone decided they were “uncomfortable” to read or watch, or not “woke” enough for a contemporary audience. If you’re offended by the past then remain in the present.

I used to collect movies. I used to re-watch movies. These days, I hardly have any movies I actually want to watch again. I'm more of a "show me something fresh" kind of guy now. A fresh, to me, sometimes means movies decades old that I just never saw until now.

The thing about streaming is there is no ownership even though you paid full price for it. Also content from shows can always be modified simply because of cancel culture with public outcry. But DVDs and BluRays are the way to go to watch it without any interruptions or downgrades in image quality.

dvds, cds and blue rays damage easilly and that is why most people want to avoid them, it turns into garbage easilly and the look and the feel it's like chip plastic junk, vinyl has a completely different feel, it's even called vinyl even if it's a kind of plastic :)

@@roadtonowherefilms the problem was when I still had dvds that friends wanted to borrow them and frequently they returned them scratched and everyone said it was already like this :) but anyway it would be great to have a physical media that is almost indestructible and looks and feels great to hold. the other reason dvds suck is the video quality is just too low. I just think it would be great if someone invents a new phisical media that you wish to keep that feels great and not plastic shit that feels like junk and ruins easilly, also cds have stupid boxes that easilly break like it was designed to break and then there is cd rot like cds were made to rotten and not to last... I like physical media, but I wish there comes a much better one
