Sequels aren't always carbon copies of their originals, but when that follow up film tries something different does it work and stand on its own as a classic?
Find out my opinion on George Miller's 1998 film, Babe: Pig in the City.

Both Babe movies are great, and Pig in the City is one of the best sequels ever made, it stays true to the first movie but also brings something new to the table.

Not only one of the best sequels ever made, but for me it's one of the best movies.

I thought this film was terrible back when I was younger. But more recently I re-watched this and actually enjoyed it more than the original. I kind of see it as a very Roald Dahl-esque kind of story, trippy, zany, and with several dark toned moments while still being for kids.

It's definitely better to watch as an adult!

Better than the first one!! 💞😸 Thelonious is such a great character, as a kid I found it mesmerizing.

Hi just rewatched both films again after about 20 plus years. This film is so different from the first one. It's very strange and dark at times. It almost could have been a Tim Burton film it felt like it throughout. I loved it i think it's an underrated masterpiece. Burton is one of my favorite film makers. Miller went all out in this film. The final act was super whacky but fun. I liked the first one a little better but as I say i still really loved this film.

Thank you for making a video on this, no other movie from my childhood has aged quite like this one. From unsettling VHS fodder as a kid to one of my all time favorites contending with the best auteur films out there.

Well, One of the good things about the sequel is that it focused more the farmer's wife who was a really funny character whereas the 1st film was more centered on Farmer Arthur himself

Absolutely. Magda did a great job in the lead!

I love this film. And after discovering that George Miller wrote and shot quite a few scenes that sadly had to be removed from the final cut I love it even more. BTW Do you recognise some of the locations that you see in the film?If I'm not mistaken the airport scene is Sydney Airport

The majority of the film was in Robertson, NSW and Fox (now Disney) Studios in Sydney, but there are plenty of exterior shots around the Rocks and Sydney Hospital.

Thank you for your in depth review 👍👍🙂🙂 Never seen this movie, I'm a wholehearted lover of the original 💗💗💗 I would def not be opposed to seeing it, however, I think I'll wait until my 4 year old is a bit older before having him watch it because it'll probably give him nightmares the way Rodger Rabbit gave me crazy nightmares as a kid..lol.. 😳😬😰

@roadtonowherefilms I think back in those days, parents blindly assumed that just because it was animated or had animation in it, that it meant it was for kids lol nope!!! My ex (God rest his soul) watched the movie 'Heavy Metal' when he was a little kid and it definitely was NOT meant for kids by any stretch of the imagination!!🤦🤦😂😬 Great old school animated movie tho, AMAZING WORK OF ART (if you haven't seen it def watch it) but absolutely for adults only!!😅😅👍👍

Original Babe: A heartwarming tale to show an unprejudiced heart can change the heart of millions with its hopeful message. Pig in the city: A portal to depression and UTTER INSANITY OF George miller still to obsessed with his mad max phase!

This is a weird movie from the assembly line of 90's movie, I mean from the trailers it looks like any animal kids movie from above but deep inside there are serious lessons for all like Bravery friendship loyalty and unconditional love, I mean just compare to this 90's movie with today's animal movies, yeah a dying dog can make anyone sad but A "Crippled" Dog Felix did his best to save his friends and while doing so even gone to dog heaven for a while now that's a totally different level of storytelling which we don't see anymore except in good budget movie like "War Horse"...

I love the original, watched it at least 10 times since it came out.. never once managed to rewatch the sequel.. still remember feeling traumatized as a child from the scene where a dog almost drowns.. just a terrible movie, especially for kids.. they had a budget of 90 million.. what a waste
@roadtonowherefilms
@roadtonowherefilms 2 года назад
It was definitely divisive! And I think many people made that error in judgement that it was intended just for kids, which it wasn't, hence it's poor reception at the box office in 98.

It's a dummy dog you can easily tell it's a fake dog they used. Dog is alive and unharmed in the next scene.
