Hello! We are Tetsu and Reid, a Japanese and American couple living in Japan with a goal to travel around the country, van style!
We chose this path after being separated for three years due to boarder closures. We want to make up for our lost time together.
This is our experience buying a used van in Japan that we are converting into a livable space for our trip. We will show the process of creating our micro home and the travel that follows next!
@@nataliepriddle9909 wa seriously? I’ve never seen a magnolia like that before! I have a big magnolia tree in my yard in the states so I had a feeling it was like that? How cool!
@TetsuReid happy to put my tree knowledge to good use haha. There are a lot of varieties of magnolia, even some evergreen ones. Fun fact, they're so old they're pollinated by beetles not flying insects!
@@nataliepriddle9909 I didn’t know there were different types! The one at my home is an evergreen and I was told these trees are as old as the dinosaurs 😂
Yes, they are usually ¥500 but some smaller temples have them for ¥300 or special double paged ones for ¥1000! You can also collect regular stamps for free at train stations and michi-no-ekis!
Very useful for anyone considering van life! You should include the total cost it took to build your van as well, as I’m sure that was a major upfront expense.
Hi there! You don’t need a ticket! You can pay with cash when you exit the bus, or use an IC card such as Suica or Passmo. At the moment you can only get these IC cards on your phone, or one available for tourists at the airport. But cash is totally fine too!
@@TetsuReid We are going mid-August so it is going to be hot haha. Will report back if we see any swimmers, or if we take a dip! Thanks as always for your videos
I saw another channel that does "living in a van, driving in Japan" kind of videos. I like you guys more because we get an American and a Japanese perspective - best of both! Also you guys are very cute! Love the videos! Have a great time traveling!
I loved this video! The part about trying different camera angles was very insightful. It was nice to see the interesting food cooking method at the restaurant. All those trees at the onsen were beautiful! Your vlogs make me want to travel around Japan but I want to learn more Japanese before going.
Thank you for watching! We try to try each unique food an area has. Japan has a lot of English signs and menus so it’s easy to get around with limited Japanese. Good luck on your studies! Learning languages is tough work.
It's a beautiful spot! apparently we recently heard that it doesn't always look like the photos, it really depends on the condition of the day. For example the water could be musty and cannot see any koi! So maybe we were lucky!
@@nataliepriddle9909 we went mid morning on a sunny day! The day before was also sunny or at least no rain and there was no wind. Hope that helps haha. Thanks!
Hi, Could you do me a favour? Could you ask your partner to update the post on his website as I am waiting for that as a reader. I went to same University as him and same class of 2016. Thanks :)
