Something I am really struggling to understand, why draw an entire artwork if you want to gesso all over it? (Constructive question as a fellow artist)
In that particular case for couple of reasons - 1, I was just using it as a warm up and 2, thats my daily journal so I get to write over the texture and get crinkly pages (I love the feel of crinkly pages). You get to see all the hints of colours and shapes underneath so it just makes it more interesting than writing on normal paper. In other cases I dunno you'd have to ask other artists, I imagine it mainly get used to cover up paintings when they don't like the results though honestly 😄
I'm a bit late to the party - again 😅 but thank you, this was fun. Those pastel pencils are divine... such a satisfying scratchiness on the paper too 😄 Will definitely check out your class - I really need something to make me pick up my supplies ❤
Hi Sam, well minuteness fyi is mixed media so we play with all sorts of supplies in that one and it's on 1/3rd off offer for a 5 more days. I will be posting more here too though, and I'm in the mood to just create freely with simple supplies and techniques atm so hopefully that'll give you some inspiration to have a play again but here's the direct link for minuteness if you want to join us: journalworkshops.ning.com/group/minuteness 🥰
Hi I'm currently using liquitex and pebeo but really I use whatever is the best price at the time - you just apply it like you would paint to any surface you wish to then create on. Yes you can paint over it (that's the idea) or reapply it OVER paint if you wish to turn the surface back to what it was before. You can scratch in it, water it down, do all sorts of things with it, have a play x
Jennibellie, more than 10 years ago, I searched in Google, to see if there were other people that used recyclable paper materials to do art and your video, came up. I was healing physically and also recovering from a back injury from a car accident. You and Shannon Green, among other artists were my form of entertainment and inspiration, to become a Mixed Media 🎨 Artist. I already was a singing and performing artist, and a personal fashion and an interior designer designer but, the love of color, paper and the determination of doing more with less. Thank you, thank you, thank you and thank you for coming back to RU-vid.
Also your video is timely as I am redoing my studio as well by revisiting your Studio Spruce up class! it's going awfully slow as I live with chronic pain but my husband has offered to help! So yeah I am excited about that. Am I the only one that gets excited going through their studio?
@@jennibellie Right at the moment yeah it's total mayhem in my studio, which is not helped one bit by the whole, "Oooh I forgot I had this, or Oh! I didn't realize I had that!"😂😂😂😂 it's gonna be a slow process😂😂😂😂
If you are thinking about topics for upcoming videos, I'd love to hear about if there have been any changes or evolution in your creativity over the past couple of years. Has your style or your interests shifted at all? Are you called to explore any new skills or media? Our creativity is such a journey, it's interesting to hear about how it shifts with the changes in our lives. So good to see you again!
So youtube apparently doesn't like me posting shorts so here is a video, that has never been a short, no, never, how dare you 🤣if you want to see a new video post the July monthly challenge for my artist group can be found here: journalworkshops.ning.com/group/monthly-challenge happy weekend 🥰
I started mixed media because of you, and I am very grateful to you. I was just blown away when you made your own stamps, used cardboard boxes, made earrings from tissue boxes...on and on. I never knew I would relate to someone and what she does the way I did! I would probably still be making scrapbook pages, but mixed media just is EXACTLY what I didn't know I needed! So, thank you for your sweet ways and your brilliant creative mind!!
Great to see that you are back! Every time I am going through a major life change I ALWAYS go back through all of your videos and it helps me to sit down and create. thank you! Creating is what leads me to deeper understanding, emotional growth, and less stress! Thank you for being part of my life journeys.
Was just rewatching this older video and noticed the little black cat! Foreshadowing of Babycakes years in advance? A message from the universe? Strange things like this happen in my art journal pages.
It's great to see you back on YT! I've also had a rough couple years, mom died in late 2022, best friend died May 2023, found out I had cancer that summer and have been going through treatment since. I'm doing really well now, yes diet really helps! You have been missed and I look forward to seeing you create!
Omg you’re back! Loved this, and loving seeing you back with us! I didn’t know posca does pencils! I’m going to look for them! Thanks so much for this!
OH YAY, your back, this is so great, i've actually packed up all my art stuff and gone back to sewing, but i still love to go look back at your vids :) i still have all my junk ready for when i change my room back to paper art. So good to have you back
I love my small collection of Posca pens. I find the white so handy. The conte pastel pencils sound interesting. I'll be looking out for them. I've recently discovered pastel mat paper and I've tried some Derwent pastel pencils on a little bit but I haven't got too many colours. This was interesting!
I love ART journaling so many are doing lets make this project or that project. But doing a video like this is so satisfying that we can art journal for our mental health and just do it. Without your page blowing up. I love the process. I think I need those Nuvo pastes.
