I fell in love with this woman at the age of 6 year old, and now I am 60, and I am so glad to see, that she still doing good, after all I still love the song band of Gold.
This was the first song that got me emotional when I heard it on the radio at age 14 in 1970 when our family went on a holiday from Winnipeg, Manitoba to Vancouver, B.C. In 1976, I won $50.00 on "Name that Tune" on the radio station in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The DJ played a few seconds of the song and were 3 others ahead of me, but they got it wrong! When my turn came, the DJ said "You really know your songs!" I knew this song!
“Deeper and Deeper’ was / is such an overlooked hit and really should have been a much bigger record than it was. ‘Bring the Boys Home” was quite a controversial records in many parts of the U.S. and some stations simply didn’t play it. And I believe I read that Freda was involved in a law suit with her record company….Also was hoping to hear about why “Invictus” Records folded so suddenly and where those artists landed after the closing.
I just happen to see Freda singing a band of gold for first time I ever seen her yep 👍 then went to her page and seen her on Sherrie show as a guest. She was talking about Ella Fitzgerald being Ella . So now I'm here watching this video. She did amazing being Ella . She's a beautiful lady , very talented . Isn't it crazy today is first I ever seen Freda , Monday June 24th 2024 . God bless her 🙏 and I never knew Anything about Ella Fitzgerald 🤔 rip❤.
When I was a very young white boy, I discovered Ella Fitzgerald by accident watching old teenage movies from the fifties. I've been locked in, ever since. Freda Payne has done Ellas legacy, great justice. Huge fan of both. Even when Freda simply talks in this tribute, she sounds like Ella. Talk about "channeling."😊
In the '70s, when I was two or three years old, I was listening to Freda Payne's song Band of Gold! Immediately I fell in love with the song! God has kept her young and beautiful all these years, she is so blessed by Heaven!
When my sister, Lynn, was 8 years old.....She would play this 45 non-stop....I was 4 and it's so burned into my memory...Lynn left us 2 years ago...but she will forever be that 8 yr old dancing to Band Of Gold
