@dinopullizzi8481 I also grew up on CKLW 800 A.M. while living in South Lyon- Salem Michigan. Salem was also the home of Barbara Lewis who recorded for Motown. Knew her Parents but never met her. but my older Brother and Sisters did know her.

One of our local radio stations has been playing your song Band of Gold recently (Sydney Australia) and I honestly thought it was a new release. Can't believe that it is older than me (just turned 50). Such a beautiful voice. Its now on my playlist.

“Deeper and Deeper’ was / is such an overlooked hit and really should have been a much bigger record than it was. ‘Bring the Boys Home” was quite a controversial records in many parts of the U.S. and some stations simply didn’t play it. And I believe I read that Freda was involved in a law suit with her record company….Also was hoping to hear about why “Invictus” Records folded so suddenly and where those artists landed after the closing.

She had another hit that wa for the military. Bring the Boys Home!! She was band after that and never recorded again. Viet Nam War anthem.

What? She was speaking about Bring the Boys Home and he’s stuck on Band of Gold. Get over that one song.. Ms. Payne made so many other wonderful songs after that. Come on
