Welcome - I'm Laren, a competitive healer main in World of Warcraft and Restoration Shaman content creator. My channel features VODs centered around Resto Shaman gameplay in M+ and Raids, as well as tips & tricks and class guides 🌊
I really enjoyed watching you nail this in a freaking +19.. I remember my team was hyping me up after having defeated khajin in a +15 as resto shaman without an aug in the group.. that was before you did it on 19. They were saying the best resto shammy only did +17, so me doing +15 was crazy :D
I stopped playin WoW since the meta verse came into WoW. I played my feral druid since vanilla. Nowadays i cant get a group beacuse my class is not meta… I miss wow but hey times are changing and so are we😊 Great video man🎉
had to swap talents, gear and trinkets, still got 3 deaths on the boss even with bloodlust, not to mention that it is the best m+ shaman in the world playing, alongside other 4 beast gamers. The situation us shammys are in right now is just a shame, compared to rdruid and mw. Congratz for the run bro, you're insane <3
Thanks! Yeah, it sucks, our sustained throughout on that boss is rough. I could have a much better time with the meta comp since it’s the best for healing overall, but I still wouldn’t be able to pull resto druid’s numbers. We are a very heavy cooldown spec and since our tier set kinda sucks for Khajin, outside of cool-downs it feels rough to keep people healthy.
love to see off meta stuff, to show meta plebs u dont need those comps to reach high keys and show new players that u dont need a meta comp to get into a group or make one
I agree to some extent. Balance is definitely off, resto druid’s throughput is absolutely ridiculous in keys and should have been neutered a long time ago. That being said, you’re comparing no aug/no mage numbers to comps with such specs. I could possibly do a lot more with the god comp since it’s noticeably the best for healing. Obviously shaman wouldn’t still push resto druid numbers, far from that, not to speak that our ability to sustain mana is pretty weak too. But I agree, there’s a distinct lack of tuning and balance for healers this m+ season.
Well played! Having to change talents in the middle of the dungeon is so cringe. I assume it's not enjoyable at all (since we don't do it in low keys)?
It's important to take into consideration that m+ is not the only game mode. If we look at pvp for example, totemic is completely trash because no one plays healing rain. Farseer on the other hand, feels pretty solid. It's very difficult to balance the game around so many different game modes.
doubt this comment will get a response being 2 weeks after the post but, as far as raid buffs for rsham, how do you feel about the take that Ancestral Vigor is our raid buff? Raid healing is pretty chain heal centric so we give 10% max hp to a pretty big amount of the raid. I think it is very powerful but I don't think a lot of people value it the way it maybe should be.
I think it could perform fairly well but the way our spec tree is currently set up atm makes it annoying to take Vigor for 2 points, meaning you would most likely need to sacrifice Acid Rain for example for prog which is our most reliable source of damage. I would like for them to give us a proper raid buff instead (not a fan of them, but since they clearly are going for that direction, they can't just leave a whole class in the gutter for so long). That being said, if Vigor only cost 1 point (which it should - among many other 2 point nodes), it'd feel better.
Yes, it’s sad how such a potentially fun class is being gimped by class designers/tuners. No other healer has to give up fundamentals of their class to take something as basic as de curse. Or how we seem to be the only healer that actually uses mana, with the lowest capped damage. I think chain heal is fun to press now which is great but after pressing it twice we’re oom and oh sorry guys I forgot to give up cap totem or earth ele for poison cleansing totem this dungeon guess we’ll all die
Yeah, I just shoot these on the go and throw my thoughts out there. Not necessarily nervous, just trying not to stumble upon my words when there's so much to say in the moment :)
A Comeback of Chainharvest or Vesper Totem would also feel great. I liked the offensive/defensive aspect of those depending on the situation + applying riptide + with chainharvest u had a spell which really moved the healthbars.
I feel like this season shows the huge gap between pug and premade groups which is a big issue honestly. Healing now even 13s in a pug group is an issue where that same amount of effort was needed for 28s in S3. Im sure if we convert 13s aint no 28s. Maybe its because people aren't used to the dungeons, not sure but I dislike healing now. And seeing how little you have to heal in a freaking +20 in a premade just proves it. Yes, we all have a chance to make a premade, I know. But barely anyone will take you unless you're the flavor of the season. Anyway, amazing video.
Yeah love the totemic feel but agree they need something to allow us a semblance of control. Prioing earth shield is a good idea. Or allow us to place the totem and have it prio proximity.
My thoughts on a shaman raid buff…. Every class does 1% on their raid buffs than they do now. Having a shaman increases every classes raid buffs by 1%. Do something different with enhance’s windfury totem so it isn’t just enhance that gets that ability versus the other 2 shaman specs. Problem solved. Doesn’t add anything but a buff to other buffs.
Bloody nice vid. Would you mind sharing which weak aura you are using for Afflicted voice overs being cast as well as the party cds being used, such as Sigil of Silence / Chains?
The analysis of resto shaman changes a lot when you see what they have been cooking with other classes, with kickass abilities and class defining stuff. Resto shaman truly looks very lackluster and careless with the dedication they have had with other classes. The capstone in farseer is a joke, it almost boils down to a 10% buff to nature swiftness. Agree on some takes, disagree on a few. For example hate pwave (worst raid healing experience on shadowlands)
You sound a little stressed:D Don't worry, champ. You are right and you are really good with what you are doing! Thank you for your opinion, it was an amazing film! My only take is that as I agree with your like/dislike about Hero Talents I have to say that after good tuning Farseer sounds really nice for raiding and Totemic for M+ so both options in current state give us hope for fun gameplay. But we will see after release.
Nice video, I agree with almost everything you said. If they overhaul the spec tree, they could solve a lot of the hero talent issues as well. For example if UL was not a choice node with undulation, there wouldn't be too much friction for m+ for Farseer. I hate Ancestral Swiftness design, I would much prefer the Farseer capstone to interact with Ancestral Guidance, make it summon a few ancestors, reduce it's cooldown or something. The totemic healing rain casts consuming buffs like UL or MotE seems pretty horrible, they would probably also only apply for the 5s rain, making it that much worse, so I really hope they fix that as well as the random targeting. I am hoping too, that the changes won't leave CBT in the dust, I'll be playing it regardless of tuning, because it's such a fun and iconic ability to play around. I am glad you mentioned the Earth Shield nodes, those bug me as well especially the fact, that we have to put 2 capstone points into Earth Shield so we can select Ascendance, our main cooldown. It's horrible. I personally don't like the narrative that chain heal is too strong. Without high tide/unleash life/deluge, it's a pretty weak and inefficient spell. I saw many guildies who picked up resto shammies, spamming chain heals, doing little healing while going oom in a minute. It's just all these talents that manifest themselves in logs as chain heal healing. I personally don't mind this, I think chan heal should be our top aoe healing spell, but the discrepancy should not be this high and introducing new synergies with other spells (wellspring, downpour), maybe introducing new ones, would go a long way, to make the spec more diverse and fun.
They should make surging totem cast the healing rains on first/current target. I think grove guardians works like that with a treant casting swiftmend on “current” target when the button is pushed. Keep up the great work man! Rsham legend!!
Honestly, shaman has become a disappointment for me as the expansion went on. The only time we were in the meta was when our damage was overtuned in S1 and then after that was nerfed, we fell out of the meta for the rest of the expansion. I played shaman all expansion and reaching up to 3500 io in season 3 through pugging but its been a frustrating journey. It was so hard to watch other classes get buffs/reworked abilities while we had so many talents in our spec tree we never really played with. I began to start getting burned out with the shaman play style at the end of last season and have been looking forward to potential changes in TWW and even though its still alpha, we are the only class that has not gotten changes to our trees or a post stating that they are looking to do changes (talking about hunter for this one). This has made me unsure if I even want to play my shaman anymore mainly because of the lack of attention and communication we have received for shaman and the hero talents dont really solve some of the major issues resto has. The spec is extremely fun and probably has one of my favorite thematic of the healers and I do hope the changes come so the spark I had with shaman can remain
Agreed. It's still the healer I relate to the most and thematically the best one too, but the talent tree is such a mess and so far the past 2 seasons it's gotten to a point where it leaves me frustrated playing the spec. I don't even mind the playstyle, I like Pwave, I like riptide, I like cloudburst etc, but the lack of changes to the spec and survivability/mana problems in high content is so frustrating and barely gets addressed. That being said, the hero talent trees look interesting and add some flavour the spec, and I'm confident we'll receive some changes to our talent trees.
What if the totemic tree made healing rain instant cast but gave it charges by casting the totem (max stacks four)? That way we can choose where to place the rain, but also get the benefit of not having to cast it.
I wish unleash life was a more interesting button on its own. Maybe shield, or increase the next healing on the target for X seconds, or idk...just something different than do X amount of direct healing.
After using unleash life, next healing wave, healing surge or chain heal is actually an absorb, or at least next healing wave or healing surge reduces dmg taken by x amount
Great video! 100% agree with the problems you went over. I love Shaman it is the best Mythic + healer imo. I feel like after SL season 4 people complained we were over tuned so they then gutted us not only for that reason but also due to Evokers being introduced. DF has been a struggle bus, I hope they seriously rework Shaman. An external, a group/raid buff would be great as well as more throughput and oomf to our healing.
