Great video. Only knock is they focuses too much on the Song "A Pirate Looks at 40" (Mother Mother Ocean) in regards to his life and him and Jane's separation as if Jimmy lived the life in the song lyrics. In reality the song is about a friend of Jimmy's named Phil Clark who was a bartender at the Chart Room in Key West which JImmy later wrote A Pirate Looks at 40 about. It has nothing to do with Jimmy's life.
Never saw JB in concert or have any of his records. We all are tuned in differently when it comes to music 🎵🎶. I respect the Parrot Heads. Never really thought Margaritaville was that great of a song. Maybe the appeal was it gave folk's the permission to drink and feel good? Which is ok. Just be sure and have a designated driver. Lol! What I find amazing with this interview and comments is not one mention of what I think is his best song.. "Come Monday". He said he never saw himself as a great musician. That song says otherwise.
Watching these on television, going to events at the Coliseum, or the Arena, at the Seattle Centre, getting to see these again is a real treat! The number of stares that started here in the PNW. Thank you for posting these!
My first buffett concert was in the tiny hill auditorium in Ann arbor and cost 10 bucks, I'll always remember the sign on one of the grass huts on stage said "skips bait shop and sushi bar" what a great sense of humor! Thanks Jimmy, rest in peace
Jimmy Buffett was not just singer, song writer, entertainer, yatta, yatta - - he was a spirit that will not end with the end of his physical existence. His spirit will live to the end of time. If you doubt that, then light up a fatty or pour yourself a favorite adult beverage, put on one of his albums, kick back, and feel the Jimmy Buffett spirit for yourself.
Bravo Steve Kroft-60 minutes… Ty!! You caught JB lightning in a margarita glass! And, you captured the essence of our favorite slightly naughty alter boy-sailor, pirate poet, a Hemingway of song writers, Coral Reefer Band leader from corner bar musician, endearing “pancake and gumbo cook” family man, a humble husband, masterful business owner (now Buffett billionaire #2), seaplane pilot adventurer, student of the Caribbean and Pacific Islands- Overall, an engagingly fun-loving/living … our beloved barefoot tippy-toe happy human! Hoping my next surgeon plays JB during procedures! Fins up-Bubbles Up, JB! ❤😢
I have been to Pink Floyd, I have seen Springsteen and the E-Street band, but the most fun I had was the endless nights at Great Woods going to the Buffet Shows. We will miss you Jimmy RIP. This margarita is for you.
