Rod/reel combo with fishing kit as an emergency setup ru-vid.comUgkxntWMOZsO1Zfv-pdn_XuffEtNkTYAYu4Z recommend but started to use this every day. The rod is thick and seems durable. I keep it neatly tucked into a regular backpack all the time with my fishing gear, and can grab it anytime, put it on my back and go anywhere. I just read in another review that the rod length below the reel is adjustable as well, so I will try that too for even more portability. Probably the best setup I've ever owned. I lost the cap for the eyelets, but no big deal since I still have the black cloth sheath that came for the pole and I use that. Very portable and high quality.
Wow just seeing this out of the box ru-vid.comUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.
Snapped mine coming home with nothing to show. Walked through the front door when the wind picks up and snapped the last few inches of my rod. Talk about being mad! Thanks, I'm gonna try this tonight
Cool trip. I’m thinking of doing it this Summer. Did you guys launch from Cabrillo? And if so, where do you park your car overnight? Thanks for the great video.
2:11 That is a mola-mola, aka sunfish. They are the heaviest bony fish known to man. They live on jellyfish and usually reside in the depths, but they come up and lay on their sides to let birds eat barnacles/parasites off their hides. I've kayaked to Catalina a few times (without the benefit or leg pedals) and it's not something to take lightly. First of all, paddling across a major shipping lane like San Pedro is like walking across a busy freeway. Except those container ships don't have brakes! If you embark in the morning (which is usually preferable to avoid the wind and chop), be aware that you may be in the morning sun's reflection and therefore invisible to those high-speed container ship pilots! Nice vid. Cool adventure. Stay safe.
Bad Ass video! Nice job!!!! You guys have cajones!! I have a 37 ft sailboat, and I still have issues doing the crossing from San Diego. I have seen hobie cats like yours out on the bay. You guys have guts!! Congrats!!!
You have to be very careful with the length of glass or carbon insert !!! If You make it too long than You will get too much stiffness over long section of Your rod. Consequences ? The deflection curve of Your rod will be very distorted and under heavy load the rod will break like a balsa float. The end of story guys !
I'm doing research kayak and this is one of the coolest videos on a kayak to Catalina I've seen on YT. The music compliments the video well. Thanks for sharing.
That's not a repair! That's called a bodged job and bad advice. Your rod is now weak in that area because when a rod bend's it goes oval in shape that's how it gets its strength. The rod in its present state is ridged where the bodge is, it will stay round. I'm not saying anymore as its pointless. It's a learning curve and may hold for a little while which, i hope it does for all the effort you put in to this project. .
Rod broken from fighting a salmon. ? Beats my story when me grandad took my Woolworths rod back to the store saying his grandson broke it playing a fish. Lol yeah right 😂😂
Jon Loane I broke my fly rod and bought a new one to replace it. Used it three times and broke my new one in the car door. I was more angry then anything 😂😂
Hey mate, is it OK to feature your clip in a moto edit some time soon? It will be credited in the description & comments section with your name watermarked on the clip. Thanks, MM
I had a rod break like that. It was under warranty so I received a replacement from the Manufacturer and they also told me to keep the broken one. What I decided to do was Instead of repairing the broken one.. I removed the eyes to use as repair eyes for when I need one. I actually cracked a eye a couple months later. I am glad I already had a exact matching eye to replace the one on my 2nd piece rod. good video though.. I almost repaired mine but decided to salvage the eyes from it.
