yeah, but I gotta hype it up and clearly point out how this game is going to treat you. the concept itself isn't really anything new, plenty games do "fake/early game completed", The Binding of Isaac easily comes to mind. The difference is that there is legit mini-VN attached to this game and I didn't tell any specifics of story. But sure, "gotcha" moment there c:

Brilliant video. Very comprehensive review. This has convinced me to go for it. Almost everything about this attracts my interest. One question, can I get the game and then get the DLC later? Cause both together are the equivalent of 10 cents above my Steam Funds, and I don't want to buy a Gift Card just for that. P.S. Any plans on making a tips video for new players? The only video on that topic is 2+ years old.
For sure, 1st DLC is just a bit of extra fanservice (a way to futher support dev), with small package of new content. Same goes for 2nd DLC that's in-works atm. As for tips for new players type of video. With so many characters and things that can happen during a run it's a bit complicated task. A lot of basics I covered in my review, but the flow of gameplay/combat comes pretty quickly naturally. Sure, there are cool tips, I share constantly on my streams of this game as I play, for example, how minmax map exploration, how to most likely get the secret chest on the map, how to use your resources (including your character's HP), but when it comes to team and deckbuilding, it comes down to adaptation most of the time unless you are abusing same build and aiming for similar cards / upgrades.

This is a wonderful video of a masterpiece of a game. What other games would you recommend that are on par with this game? Thank you! I've tried other games but can't stop playing Chrono Ark and nothing comes close to it.
Well, this is really tough to answer, just like in my review, I couldn't name games of that scale, because of unique mix of heavy story + team deckbuilder (not even solo deckbuilder), it's like you are watching anime or reading VN included with this.
this is a broad and subjective question, based on your genre preferences. But if you are talking about deckbuilders, Choron Ark is one of the kind so far.
In this episode, as I train to beat stage 2 boss, I managed to showcase design issues behind checkpoints and lives system. Basically managed to get a nice QA session with dev too. After the stream, dev confirmed, that checkpoint system is gonna be changed to include the gear you had when you activated them. To avoid having these unfair situations, which is against Volgarr's design.
I've basically been speedrunning most of these challenges. I've found that bringing the probe with the artillery and drone is the most ideal and then switch between which miner to use is the best. The artillery weapon late game is undeniably the strongest if you go the splash damage route and get the 4x shots. And the drones basically allow you to keep mining the entire time other than for base protection, so you arent slowed down by carrying resources back after round 5. I assume the lack of iron one is going to be difficult, so I might switch from probe to iron worms so I can get triple the iron. I also find almost always getting iron worms, power drill, and stunning blast if possible, and completely ignore most others.
Patch 4.0.3 made all challenges go from 4th difficulty to 3rd one, which makes all of them significantly easier. At the same time, I get the change, as most people won't be happy to experience something like I had in this run and it's indeed really hard / tight. Also 4th difficulty somewhat limits your starting options of dome/gadgets. But because of the change, getting 2 medals on challenge, doesn't feel as satisfying as before, so I personally kinda demotivated to grind 32 medals now.
Your explanation of the lives/continues system helped me to understand how it makes sense. So turns out the Zombie mode is not mandatory (I kept selecting YES to continue because I wanted to continue playing 😅). Also you are right saying is worth it to break the checkpoints so we can grab the chests upgrades when selecting NO continue
Just inb4 "LUL YOU USED CONTINUES" comments: During launch, as you can see (if you watch the video), there is this weird exploit with autosaves when you lose all your lives and say "No" during Continue screen. This could be honestly handy to train all stages, meanwhile mechanically, still being mortal, and losing equip on all hits, unlike Zombie Mode. And Practice mode is kinda useless until you beat boss of the stage, so you cannot practice new stages that way.
Awesome video! The game just received a major update that enhances many aspects, especially the movement system. Chapter 5 of the story is on the way, and the developers are actively engaging with the community and incorporating feedback. I really love this game and believe it will succeed at launch. I hope it gets plenty of attention and positive reviews.
I feel like they really shouldn't have added the invicibility frames on the dash. Game was much more challenging in a good way before I found the item giving them. I think there are a couple of boss attacks designed to be dashed through, otherwise I think I would find a way to get rid of the item.
I've beat the cost up boss every time, including with a daggers deck. But what made that work was having several dissolve or discard other cards. I actually spent 2-3 coins just to have more cards to scrap for bonuses on next turns. Also, only the 1st dagger is increased in cost.

EDIT: I learned from another player, that "Restart Fight" button is heavily bugged in release version of the game. You will start creating paradoxes with items, lose them, characters won't move, crash the game. Also he mentioned how some classes like Druid are literally unplayable, as in, you cannot do anything with them.
honestly been grinding for god knows how long now for class chip of tunnel rat and yet i cant get any, tried real hard with sunlight since theyre the corp with the most chance for class chip for me rn, and yet.... Truly RNG knows what not to give you 🤣
In the same boar in my current playthrough after just buying the game (love it by the way!). I am still enjoying it though... almost like a prolonged start. I'm just farming Mars and looking for Sunlight Coven or Grasshopper missions in Quasi zones when I have enough Morphine.
I played lotsa roguelike deckbuilder as well, completely agree with what you said, completely caught off surprise how GOOD this game is. It sat in my library for almost a year!
hello friend, since you gotten a job at the test team, First off, Congrats !! Second off, i see you popping off with the Melee class using no real gun mid vid (i wanted to skip ahead beyond the tutorial missions). I picked up the game for this update since a friend recommanded it and really like the idea of the Cannibal melee class, how would you recommand me not dying ? Should i farm mars first to get a good armor before even attempting no gun ? Kitting is really hard for me grasp in this with action systems T-T Thanks for video and Good luck on the heat wave !
Yeah, the safest areas to start off is Earth's station Tsiolkovsky and everything in Mars. No Quasimorphs there. Eventually after few missions you will get some ship module upgrade items (check before-hand what you need to get upgrades), those are gonna be big help too. You will be see more early game from me in upcoming days. Also if you want to be safer, pick Percy as you character, +10 to all res is fantastic.

The information out there on Godborn mode seems pretty slim at the moment. Any specifics you can share? I'm also wondering if there are any exclusive superbosses to the mode.

I got to the end of what i'm guessing is the first map on my 1st run , the Umama tree or whatever the main quest is is surrounded by mountains and lava that you cant cross . xD I mean lvl 7 enemies is a bit harsh but blockin me off from the first main quest? edit : im still liking the game but ... feels bad when you feel like you made no real mistakes ^^'
you actually can get godborn mode by beating vengeance mode once only. you just beat the final boss of vengeance then reload a save before the boss in which the super boss subquest is unlocked, then if you beat that and then the final boss again, you can unlock godborn mode
Hey there, first time I'm hearing that and sounds completely opposite of all guides/articles claiming how to do it. The problem is that you have no idea where is "super boss" or it's existance in Vengeance if you are playing it the first time. Also turning back time into same playthrough to get access to more content even though you are supposed to lose your "beat the game" progress is WILD. But then again, it's ATLUS. What a mess they created with this unlock.
Yes, I am aware that game's music sometimes is louder than my voice. There a minor issue of some music being too ambient/quiet and some battle tracks are okay and some battle tracks are very loud. I will decrease game's volume in upcoming episodes.
