Can u teach me what to touch with the negative what to touch with the positive? My board turns on can play gta 5 but I think I shorted argb I can get lights to light up with unplugging and plugging argb but the computer then gets problems and will get blue screen and shut down but when I initially plug in argb fan at botten of board it won't have no lights until I mess with it unplugging plugging back in ect
The problem is that Microsoft is increasingly enforcing the hardware requirements and the new processors no longer fit the slots. It's no longer worth repairing an old motherboard.
With the card 580 it seems the core is robust enough to take 12v into the core if a small enough inclusion of the voltage by only one phase into the core. Unfortunately this is not the case after 580 because of further chip refinement of smaller scale components producing a dead core like with Radeon64 chipsets making it less robust unable to handle any inadvertant 12v by direct mosfet failure in the closed mode. Thus mosfets must be designed to fail open and should be immediately implemented.
Help Sos! i have a RTX 2080 ti FE. it had artifacts with code 43 witch is a memory problem actually! but after a phew reboots the card would work just fine for phew minutes and crap out again. i saw some youtubers suggesting to blast the card on the core with a heatgun for 10 min. that completly killed the card. - NO Post! - Fans are on 100% - Even the Nvidia logo is inactive! - Is the GPU completly screwed? - did i manange to corupt the bios on the gpu with excesive heat? I inspected the card nothing no burn mark or discolloring or missing component nothing.

Got a Gigabyte 1060 with missing EN signal and Therm_Overt* signal issue... The Vcore, pex, and EN signal was present for few seconds..and then Therm_overt* signal kick in, no EN signal, Vcore, and pex. Anyone had idea?
I wonder what type of thermal compound was on the chipset. If it was factory thermal glue/epoxy or if someone replaced it with thermal paste. I mistakenly took the chipset heatsink off of my main PC (AM2+ socket...) while cleaning it out one day. Thinking it was just thermal paste underneath. Boy was I wrong and what a pain that turned out to be. 5 days of research and 3-4 days of finally scraping that pink crap off with toothpicks I cut in half at an angle - because isopropyl alcohol was ineffective... Luckily I had some thermal pads on hand that I had bought for my old laptop I'm trying to fix up (from the same era). Put 2 and 2 together realizing it wasn't thermal paste initially and there could be some clearance between the die and the heatsink - and it had foam padding, similar to my laptop GPU. Which required thermal padding. - Replaced the pink adhesive with a thermal pad and my chipset temps dropped from around 89°C down to like 56°C lol. Apparently they're made to withstand high temps, but it's nice to know this old motherboard I had recently maxed out the CPU on might last me many more years. And will be much easier to maintain in the future with thermal padding there.
How about the dozens of stencils needed? I bet not cheap! Getting faulty cards is a matter of luck. Reballing memory chips and the graphics card may be needed so Greta's lead free cards can be removed.
I dont get it Eli. A zero ohm resistor does not take the place of a filter cap. It would just short the circuit again and any farad cap would be better than pushing 12v to ground. I like the way you said the Ruzzian meaning of the short. This is a good card for the era you were fixing it in. I wondered if ya'll had been drafted by Putler to fight in Ukraine. I certainly hope not as you are a good guy and I don't see you invading your neighbor for a despot.
