The brass/bronze gears still use the 3 NYLON bearings so if the bearings are the common failure point then the brass gears do nothing to prevent that….
@daleabbinante8729 no, still CV joints for now. I have done some mild wheeling at choccolocco and some backroom areas. If I decide to go any bigger I will invest in some ujoint style
How did the axle swap effect your top speed...... did you swap to the Rubicon transfer case too... I stretched the chain in my Sahara and thinking of swapping axles and transfer case to Rubicon.... awesome vid... great details... Thanx... now following
Old video but still pertinent! Good job! I’m in the process of doing the same thing! I came up with the same plan as you did except I love the shock bushing washer idea for a cap! I happened to have saved a few. I was going to fabricate a cap with nuts welded in. You saved me the time, so thanks for taking the time to share!
Any tips of putting the doors back on? Buying one that had the doors removed (because they used it as a golf cart) and will be responsible for putting them back on
@jananasbananas76 it's hard to do without taking the front fenders off. Since mine will never be stock again, I cut access points so I wouldn't have to take fenders off again.
@ramonherver I used the jscan app on my phone with a Bluetooth OBD scan dongle. It was really easy. It let's you adjust the ratios and tire size in the ECM
Just a caution: Do NOT buy cheapo EDPM weather stripping. They will be FAR too hard/firm, and you will have problems closing doors, rolling up windows. There are several sellers who have whole car weather stripping packages < $200. This stuff will be an absolute waste of money. Yes, proper weather stripping is expensive (700-$800 as of 2024), but that's really the only option.
I can't believe that actually worked. I'm truly amazed it was that easy thank you so much! I don't comment on videos often but yeah this video deserves it. I did the 1 1/4
I've got a '97 XJ that just recently had a similar issue with over an inch of water on the passenger side floorboard after a lot of rain. Wondering if it's set up similar to where I can access it after removing the cover? I watched a nightmarish video of a guy cutting open his cowl to gain access to the fresh air intake. Mine is the first year of the "restyle" so maybe they redesigned it for '97?
even if you cant get into the cowl, if you can find the drain hose emptying out, you can blow air up into it to clear the obstruction. guarantee the water in your floorboard is the blower box filling with water and leaking out.
Recently put an Agility radiator in a 98 ram and it immediately started mixing trans fluid and coolant together. Turned an easy job into a bigger job and big mess. Just pay the extra $40 for a quality brand radiator (like Denso) and save yourself rolling the dice on a huge headache.
Found inch and a quarter ID hose in home depot did the fix works well thanks you much I actually canceled the new washer I was going to buy tried this saved me 600 bucks
