My 2017 Ram Rebel back up camera showed the same screen that yours did. Easy fix thanks to your video. You gotta love the people who spend the time making these types Of DIY videos to help the rest of us out there. Thank you
I looked to see if anyone had said anything about it and nobody has unless i just missed it skimming. The video is great. I assumed it was pretty simple. Just looked to be sure. I watch these videos for like tool info. Like i dont Have to guess whether it’s t15 or a t50. I can walk out there with the 30 and be done with it. But the best part of the video was seeing and hearing that young man use his manners. It’s a lost art that more people need to get back into. Anyways, good job on the mechanic stuff. Great job on the dad stuff. Get that boy some ice cream or something. Get ahold of me and I’ll cashapp you and pay for it. Yours too.
Thanks so much for doing this & mentioning the T30 bit. I just fixed mine. Clearly someone had been in there before, the small round white connector to the camera was a little chewed up. Removed & sprayed it with Deoxit5 & replaced it. Camera fixed. Could not get the larger connector apart but didn't need to.
I have had issues before with the 2017 Laramie package 1500 camera. Dealership has inconsistent service. Then I got a bed extender to carry a 9 foot kayak in the back. I suspect my connections got loose from driving to and from the local lake with the bed down. Video will save a lot of money and time. Thank you so much.
Great video!! Worked perfectly for my 2017 Ram 1500. Not that I would ever trust a dealership but I did inquire with one about fixing my back-up camera. Those wretched thieves wanted $700 to fix and/or replace my system. Thanks to this video, my problem is fixed...for free...and only took around ten minutes' time and one zip tie. Dealerships are only good for recall repairs and free oil changes (assuming your new car comes with them). Although when using one of my free oil changes at a Toyota dealership, they tried to tell me I needed a new front windshield because of a gravel divot that was barely visible. I digress. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the video. I have a 2017 Ram 1500 Crew Cab Big Horn. I could not pull the connector apart but I push the connector together and zip tied it. Works like a charm. Saved me going to dealer and wasting my time even though I have an extended warranty
Im glad that fixed it for ya. I use WD-40 to clean the connector then apply the Dielectric grease. If it acts up again you can check the wires where they go into the tailgate and flex. Your new #InSaneFriends from Whitfield county GA
Thanks, Has stayed fixed for about a month now. Hopefully got lucky. I usually use dielectric grease on this kinda stuff as well just ran out. Definitely suggest it. I grew up in north bartow, know whitfield county well!!
I have a new 2021 RAM 1500 with only a little over 3000miles on it, and this morning the backup camera only shows a black screen with the Look behind you Regular Warning, and never displays the backup camera. Only Black screen. Also, at the same time, a Red Lightning Bolt displayed and will not go away. It normally only displays the lightning bolt for a split second during startup. Do you think the backup camera issue could be a wire connection issue in the tailgate like in your case? AND Do you think the Red Lightning Bolt on the dash could be a dirty throttle body? Already, with only 3,000 miles. It says 'Service Electronic Throttle Control'
Thanks for the great video it's saved me probably a lot of money who knows the garage may have wanted to sell me a whole new screen it was exactly what was wrong with my 2016 2500 thanks again
The symptom on your Ram is identical to my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Between this video and another one here ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CRl9js1p95U.html to help take apart the GC's tailgate I should be able to fix it.
My 2017 Ram 1500 is doing this EXACT thing for couple weeks now it's been ticking me off. It even went to a solid green screen once like you mentioned. I'll be opening it up and putting some zip ties in there. Thanks for this video!
Thank you brother! Got the 2020 rebel… a little different, but found my connector to the camera completely detached! One of the harness clips was not clipped in, so the camera cable wiggled it’s way out somehow? Love the zip tie suggestion! I tied mine all up and tied the harness clip to its home. Works great now! Thanks again!
Mine pretty much has this exact issue, but it only does that periodically, and all I have to do is open and reclose my tailgate and it works again for awhile, but it just does it periodically and all I have to do is reclose tailgate. Is this the same issue as here or would it be a different issue?
@@cvsahara thanks for the tip man, I’ll definitely try it out soon. I think that might be my issue. Just got my 2017 hemi ram a month or so ago, and I’m loving it! If you could, could you maybe do a video on how to tighten the center glove compartment door? Bc mine is loose and I need steps on how to fix it lol. It’s fine if you can’t though. Hope your having a great day!
L Dude, thanks a million. I was going crazy.. it worked then didn't. Then did. At the dealer they said nothing was wrong and could not recreate. Your vid solved my same issue as well..
Thank you so much for making this video for the issue. I had the same issue and now it's working fine, which saved me hundreds of $$$ that my dealership diagnosed the issue and asked me to get a new camera.
Awesome Video. I had the same problem, i got under the truck and fiddled with the connectors and it worked for a while. It makes sense that the issue is in the tail gate. It's the opening and closing. Thank you saved me a trip to the Dealer lol😀
