Aquariumnerd in Stockholm, Sweden. Main focus in the past 4 years is the simple yet fascinating family Neocaridna shrimps and lifebearers, in particular guppys.
Have a 40 year old life experience in the aquatic world. The fascination had brought me to many places in the world. I have always, and currently tried a to keep and breed a various of species, all over the aquatic field. When set for a specific i set a goal to strive to make a positive change, if ever so little. Living with aquarium since the age of 6, experience has given me an eye that i benefit from regardless what I dig into in the hobby. When breeding, i always strive to look for overall quality, not blindly on one trait. Where as in all, found in the details.
I've had Mbuna, Johani and Red Zebra, for two years and read all I can find. This video provides spot on information applicable to other Mbuna species. Thank you for sharing valuable knowledge. 10/19/24, 20h, EST.
They are quite hard to come by. Unless you live in Sweden I can't point you where to. Asia would be a likely spot and if you know any Mongolian immigrants they might know a source as they originated from there and are quite popular among them.
I say if you have a strong male, an absolute alpha you could have success if a smaller open tank where this patriarch can overlook aggression among the females and break conflicts up. However I'd recommend a bigger open environment with more individuals but exactly as above one totally dominant male to rule all the flock that preferred is most made up by females.
I mainly keep Sulawesi shrimp but after coming across your channel recently, you have reignited my interest for neocaridinas haha. Love all the cool variants you’ve been breeding. I know this might sound like a crazy question which a lot of people have already come to a conclusion on, but do you think there is a slight chance of crossing a Neocaridina and Caridina? I say this because I’ve noticed some of the neocaridinas that come out of Taiwan recently have been bigger, more solid pigmentation and seem to only do well in lower pH with softer water. I mean humans have crossed animals such as tigers and lions together so you would think that it could be possible to do the same with two different shrimp genus haha.
Yes, but I suspect that crossing between these two families will have the very same outcome as crossing the tiger and lion resulting in a liger, full stop sterile outcome. But of course, shrimps are much less complicated creatures, so that may be a possibility. If it's to happen, as hybrid, it's coming out of SE Asia and most likely from Taiwan. I need to ask further to others that may know more about if there is a lead on that to find, or that it's just selection within that improved stability and intensity, but for some reason making the result less resistant to water parameters that should indeed be favorable for Neos... but in this case, thrive better in Caridina conditions. If that is an accurate observation, it is indeed an odd occurrence. Thanks for the kind words and the interesting reflection ❤
I have an important question I have both red cherry shrimp and bloody Mary shrimp and I also know that bloody mary have red color tissue and transparent exoskeleton and red cherry have clear tissue but red color exoskeleton here is my main question that when my bloody Mary After moulting her exoskeleton is transparent and it's normal i know but why my red cherrys exoskeleton also show transparent after moulting why?
I agree. I like all the variations. It's just the common aim to reach the standard. I, for one, would not mind a whole tank sky blue or good rilis. But in a follow-up, later on, I will try to display some animals without flaw to standard, and they are truly stunning and throw very even outcome. One thing I did not say in the video was that's the problem was that the cull rate of animals out of each standard is higher than when reach for the blue dream high grade standard.
If to find these, I assume you need to find a nostalgic, very old-school guppy breeder that wants to maintain foundation rather than drowning in new fancy showtype strains that have almost drowned the old classics of the map.
If you are looking prior 00.40 it's males. If you mean the two, starting at 00.40, the larger one is a female. The smaller, a strong specimen of a male that bloomed and stood out by both dominance and strong structure.
Amazing that i found this video. I am new to this. I am getting a trio of galaxy blue tail guppy's. Well... They named then that. They are realy blue galaxy guppy's wit a blue tail and a little bit of yellow before the tail. I want to breed them. I am thinking about putting blue metal dragon females with them. Is this a good idea? I don't know what the childeren will look like. I have photo's of everything and would love some help
If you lack females to your galaxy, that may be a good option. It would be good to see the optional both gender that you had in mind to the outcross to evaluate the possible outcome from combo with the fm genetics and what they may bring.
@@karlsfishtube5305 FM is the blue metal dragon? Do you have any more suggestions for an interesting cross breed? I do not lack Galaxy females i am just to cross breed to get new/ a beautiful strain
A fairly new Neocaridna and also new in my tanks, only a few months. This intense yellow Neocaridina brings something different and that in a very postive way. They swim in an aquarium just beside my more common but exellent group of Yellow Neon Stripe. The Yellow Fire still stand out and are stunning, so i have decided to keep both for the long. I got these and my OE Neocaridina from a good friend and exellent breeder, Michael Haesler, truly a legend when it comes to Neocaridina. Particularly the development and creation of the OE. For anyone intersted, i will link to his newly started channel below; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-HSvLXK5yUMk.htmlsi=z6vhQVmSbAk2_cOj
Thankyou for sharing these videos they are great knowledge and understanding of these beautiful species. Can I ask do you run wave makers in your aquariums for extra flow? I am from Australia still learning about these fish but love your fish quality do you import to au?
