Horror fans should not skip one if they have self-respect ... LOL. Seriously though, loved it. People have taken lots of angles to it, which is a good sign. One last thing , please do not dismiss it for the ending... it is like dismissing "2001 a Space Odyssey" for its LSD final act.
Wish I could watch this. But think I'm far too squeamish for it haha. Have enjoyed reading peoples experiences going in blind at 'screen unseen' mystery showings. Many walkouts!
Decided to copy and paste my review from Instagram instead of rewriting it! This was absolutely incredible, I saw it last night, l've never come out of a film wanting to be kind and to give myself a tight hug ever in my life, which is a strange concept considering the genre. I highly highly recommend. This film has hopefully altered the way I treat myself as lage. l've linked the trailer, I think it's particularly important for women to watch, but anyone could watch and enjoy (warning for graphic scenes of blood and gore something I do not like at all but don't let that put you off because the message is so fucking good). Demi Moore is incredible as is Margaret Qually. The director has done an incredible job with every element and all its themes, and hope she has many more films to come. 5/5 Incredible review el, so squidgy
Fantastic Review Ellis. Agree with pretty much everything there. Willa Fitzgerald was the massive standout for me here too wow what a performance that was! Shame not too many people will see this but yer what an awesome film mate!
Lol it’s been at least 30 years now, so yes it still holds up? That should not even be a question 🫤 THIS MOVIE THERE IS NO RIVAL, IT’S UNMATCHED CLASSIC.
I read the comic book many times and have watched the movie many MANY times, they're both excellent. There's some differences, but I feel like the changes were necessary to tell a more cohesive story with more depth. The reboot sucked.
Please, please, please read the graphic novel. The 1994 kept the essence of the spirit of that story... tragedy, loss, pain, retribution and a love stronger than death... There are differences to be sure, but where it truly matters, the source material is honored, and the emotional resonance is maintained.... Thank you for your review.
@@rogdawg123 it's totally fine if you did! I really, really wanted too. I wasn't going to not give it a chance because of the OG, but even with that.. it didn't move the needle much for me. I'll end up watching it again, hopefully second watch I enjoy it more
Watch them cast John David Washington as the new Batman 😅 But on a serious note, I hope this new Batman finally has the white eyes like Deadpool & Wolverine.
I loved it, I felt like I was transported right back to the original setting, it felt like seeing old friends. Loved all the practical effects, sets, costumes makeup and of course the cast, Really cosy and fits in lovely as a sequel, I really hope they leave it there!! 🪲🧃✨👻
Great video, I watched Forever in first time in years at weekend and also wondered what the hell happened when the car got to top of building. Loved the toy one too, great times (shame about the mega drive game).
@@mitchukonline im actually going to see it on the big screen on Sunday night, can't wait! Yeah that is a mystery to this day 😅. I only ever played the ps1 game back in the day. I did however play a pretty fantastic "Forever" pinball machine on holiday once ha. Thanks for watching mate 👍
Ok but? It is very whot bread to gloss over the yakuza truing to forse his family to not share info You just GLOSSED OVER the entire reason he died on set. Wow. Helping 'cleanse" history because... 🤔 genuinely interested.
@@hazelhedgewitch2188 yakuza!? What's the yakuza got to do with the crow? As stated in the video, it's a video about the movie. I do briefly touch on the tragic accident, but if your wanting to know more about how he died on set, your in luck my friend because there's a whole lot of video content on that specific subject on RU-vid
Great review and discussion. Really good job 👍 I only have one question 😊 How could the creature in the end of Romulus really be something totally new and something you’ve never seen before? Because in my eyes (and many others) it’s not new at all. It’s, like the rest of the movie, a combination of things from many of the other movies. We had the whole human giving birth to something horrible that grows very fast in Prometheus, when Shaw gave birth to that squid-thing. Sure, it’s not the same creature, but the idea that it comes from a human and by pregnancy is there. And also I Resurrection we had the combination of human womb and Alien resulting in the creature in that movie. That resembles the one in Romulus a lot. Both are pale, human-like and Alien-like in the same time. Towering over the humans on its back legs. Both these creatures show up when we all thought the threat was ended, when the craters thought they were safe. And both of the creatures, actually all three of you count the squid, is that respective movies shot at trying something new with the design. Only that in Ressurection there had been no human-Alien combination before it, so that was completely original. And in Prometheus there had been no Alien growing in human and given birth to scene, so that was completely new. This wasn’t new 🤷♂️ Even though I liked the movie I don’t think that the thing at the end there, actually the whole way it ended, could be considered something new by anyone. Sure, it looked kinda of different and we haven’t seen that exact creature in any other movies. But if that’s the only criteria for it to be considered something entirely new, then most of the horror-movies today have original creatures in them 🤷♂️ Again, great review 👍
@@GoranKlintenheim it's a fair point, and in all honesty, that was my critirea in evaluating the creature at the end, it's a new design we haven't seen before. I'd never really considered it's pretty much the same thing as Shaw... but she only gets as far as a c-setion, whereas Romulus goes all the way on that one. Honestly, I'm just a sucker for what he did with the design. I love what Resurrection was going for with the new born, but I never liked the look of the it. I think this looks freaky as shit, and I really wasn't expecting it. So out of curiosity, what would you of liked to have seen in that third act? Thanks for watching, really appreciate it 🙏
@@totalmovierecall Thanks for the answer mate 😊 And I understand your point. And that’s the beauty of movies. We can watch the same thing and have two totally different experiences with it. And still have a nice conversation about it 👍 Personally, I LOVE the Xenomorph. I remember waking up as a kid and walking into the living room and my parents just happened to be watching Alien. And I got a glimpse of the xenomorph and it scared the crap out of me. I still remember the nightmares I had for quite a while after that incident 😂 So for me, an Alien-movie doesn’t need anything more than the xenomorph. It doesn’t need to be “topped” or revolutionized. Remember, it’s the perfect specimen. And it must boil down to my love for the first movie. Alien is my all-time favourite movie. If I only had to choose one movie, that would be it. I love Aliens as well, but never liked it as much as the first one. And I think it boils down to the fact that it actually changed genre from Alien to Aliens. First one was like a sci-fi slasher-horror movie. You have one villain/monster on a location, killing of the cast one by one. Until there’s only one final-girl/guy left that figures out a way to beat the monster. Then Aliens came and it was more like a sci-fi action movie. Cameron said it himself that he made it as an allegory for the Vietnam war. We had advanced weapons, soldiers, ships, bombs, bombastic soundtrack, and many, many enemy troops (the Aliens) and they used their better cunning of their surroundings to their advantage. And then Alien 3 takes it bask to the horror, and Ressurection is a strange mix. Then Prometheus comes along and makes the whole thing grander and deeper. The meaning of life, creation and philosophy. And I LOVE Prometheus for trying something new and trying to give us some answers to the questions we’ve had since the 70’s. What was that thing that the Nostromo-crew saw in the ship on LV-426, and what kind of creature is the xenomorph? Where did it come from? What’s its purpose? Questions we never knew we didn’t want the answers to 😂 Because let’s be honest, I don’t think anyone could have given us an answer to those questions that would make everyone satisfied, because we all had our own thoughts about what it should be and what we wanted it to be. And in my opinion, Prometheus was great but Covenant ruined it a little but. They took it in a direction that I think none of us wanted it to go. The mysterious xenomorph was now somehow created by David, a synthetic created by mankind… 🤷♂️ But back to your question. The xenomorph is to me the star in the Alien-franchise. Just like Freddy Krueger is in Nigtmare on Elm Street, or Jason Vorhees is in the Friday the 13th franchise. And exactly as I don’t need anything to be revolutionized on those franchises, giving us a new “end now” because somehow those guys are not enough, I don’t think we need a new creature in Alien 🤷♂️ They are perfectly horrifying as they are. Just come up with an interesting plot and some new and interesting lore on the creature itself, and I’m good 😊 And they actually did that in Romulus, with the facehuggers. A creature that’s been in these movies since the very first one, but seen in a different light in this movie. Many of them, faster than ever, hunting, throwing themselves around to attach to a victim. Same creature but doing something we haven’t seen before. Brilliant 👍 But I’m actually mostly disappointed over the fact that they didn’t give Fede a chance to be Fede all through the movie. This is the guy that gave is the blood-rain scene in Evil Dead. The guy who let us see in detail how it looks when a leg is sawed off with a chainsaw. I was looking forward to some real intense gore in this one. That would have been a first in the Alien-franchise since they almost alway cut away quite quickly when someone’s about to die. Imagine seeing a xenomorph tear into a person made with the attention to detail that Fede is famous for. But sadly is was quite tame in the department 🤷♂️ Overall, good movie. Best since Aliens. And great review and thanks for the response 👍
I was obsessed with this movie, when I was young 🤣🤣🤣 It always annoyes me, how so many people say this film has no memorable quotes. WTF it has so many. My personal favorite “Victims, arent we all.” I do get why there is so little exposure on Shellys character in the movie. In this corrupted, broken and violent world, she is this almost ethernal, angelic presence and therefore, what happens to her seems even more brutal. The main theme always makes me tear up. And the last scene in the cementary is one of the most beautiful, romantic and tragic one the film history for me.
Its not A supernatural crow. All crows are carrying the souls to the after life. s SOMETIMES your end is so unfair the crow brings you back to set thibgs right. How am I a bigger fan lf this than you are?
Great review 👍😎I say this as an OG fan 😉👍 I'm 43, I watched this movie on its first showing, on it's opening day in 1994, and still got the original promotional swag from it😉👍they used to do that at theaters back then🤣🤣 first movie I ever saw multiple times in theater too, I saw it 3 times 😎👍at that particular time of my life, and that particular moment in time, I thought it was the greatest movie ever made ❤️👍 still in my top 10 today 😜 RIP Brandon Lee 🙏❤️ j
@@tonyc8752 what I've always appreciated, is that they could of really over done it with "spin-kicks" and made Eric some sort of arse kicking superhero JUST to show Brandon Lee's skills off. I'm glad they choose to dumb it down abit, he's more rocker than ninja
yes, most actors in hollywood that time needed stunt doubles and the hand to hand combat was always trash, those guys like arne and sly had muscle but brandon was a real martial artist like his father and you can see, this is a film were he didn't want to go the martal arts way. he said in a interview , this something different and this is very dark and deep. It isn't a fairytale but something dark and Brandon understood what it would do for the future of movie making
I worked on the movie the Crow and the movie was inspired by Tim Burton style especially from Batman returns and the Crow actually inspired The matrix and other movies to follow! And it inspired John wicks character! R.I.P Brandon Lee the son of the legendary Kung Fu martial artist The Great Bruce Lee!
@@zosometalgod that's awesome! Yeah I can definitely see it's influences, and the movies it's influenced itself. Glad i wasn't totally off with the Batman comparisons
... The crow is a weird one... despite the bizarre online fanaticism that surrounds this movie, I have quite literally never one singular time in 47 years of being alive ever once heard a human being talk about it mention it caught a line from it. Nothing never once I've never seen it playing at someone's house when I came over never seen it on TV in really any shape or form anywhere and almost never see merchandise outside of maybe a thrift store or like an Ollies or something .... Weird
@@LadyBits2023 I think the on set tragedy probably has a big part to play in the "online fanaticism" about the movie... not to mention its just a awesome movie. Great visuals, great soundtrack, awesome protagonist, and Micheal Wincott. I mean.. whats not to love here. But i do agree on some level, my brother (40s) who is into the movies on relatively basic level has never seen this movie. In the UK, it was never on tv alot growing up... if ever. I never remember seeing it. I was about 15/16 when I first watched it. Speaks to me on many levels when it comes to aspects I enjoy about movies, especially the 90s.
It’s my favourite movie. But, I don’t really talk about movies, except with other people who have watched it. My family has heard me and my oldest son talk about it, but I’ve rarely mentioned it to anyone else. Except in the theatre, I’m not sure I’ve ever watched it during daytime. A lot do people seem to watch it annnually, onnor around Devil’s Night it Halloween. I’m. It surprised you’ve never walked in on anybody watching it. As for merch, I don’t know how much there was, but it’s a cult classic and it’s 30 years old. People who have merch probably hold on lot it, but it’s not like Spider-Man or Batman or whatever-merch isn’t going to available literally everywhere.
@@6li8storm40 .. yeah and I've heard other people say it's their favorite movie as well but like I said, I've never ever once seen someone watching it. I've never heard anyone mention an interesting scene from the movie. I've never heard anyone quote line from the movie. Nor T-shirt nor poster or ever seen like the DVD case sitting on someone shelf... it's just kind of weird.....
@@LadyBits2023 Well, I had a poster up for years. I still have it, but my husband isn’t a fan, so it’s not on the wall. (Hmm…now that I’m thinking about it, maybe I’ll put it up in the music area in the basement.) I think the fact that people don’t talk about it much is just that it’s a bit niche. I told a guy yesterday that it’s my favourite movie, and he also liked it, so we chatted about it for a minute. But, my cousin was there, and she hadn’t seen it so, we dropped it. Mostly, I just don’t really mention it, because most people don’t seem to know it.
Firstly, thanks for getting that far into the video and thanks for watching. Secondly, all titles are done to gain clicks... thanks for clicking. Thirdly, yeah... I'm still not sure.
Can we please show Mr. Snipes the love and respect projected at the now departed Chadwick Boseman. Or you wanna' wait til' he passes away and "claim" admiration and respect.
Wesley Snipes is the best choice to play Blade again. Wesley has already played the Blade character before, he knows martial arts, and he has worked as a producer on the Blade films many years ago. So, hands down Wesley is the best choice.
