@@12waythereadventures84 How did you mount the side mounts to the side of the boat? I have the same kind and is worried about going through the side of the haul with screws?
@@user-qn1ff1fk9y I was worried about the same thing, but on my 2019 ps17 I drilled a really small hole where I wanted the mounting the holes on the rod holders to line up with and then took the bit out of the drill and by hand pushed it in till it hit the outer hull. Then I used a sharpie to mark the bit with the depth of room I had before I drilled in to the outer hull and cut my stainless screws so they were no longer than the mark on the drill bit. Then when I ran the screws in I did it by hand and hand my other hand on the outer hull to make sure it didn't feel like it would come through. It was a little nerve racking but take your time and you should be fine. I am not sure on the older first gen pro skiffs if it would work the same but I know it was fine on my 2019. An better way to do it would probably get some starboard PVC board at the hardware store and glue it to the hull with some 3m 5200 and run the mounting screws into that instead of pentrating the hull.
@@user-qn1ff1fk9y good deal, I hope u get them installed. They are great for storing rods when u want to have the bimini top up. Watch for leaving treble hooks on them cause my wife got snagged on one walking around the console. It wasn't fun pulling it out.
Thanks man, hope it gives you great inspiration to build your own. I would suggest starting with a little higher quality cooler than I used, but then you can make it your own style
Hey so I have a question, have you taken it to Robinson island? And if so what is the ride like? Do you think some of the chop is too much for it or is it pretty capable in terms of its size?
Yes I've been to Robinson island many times. It does get a little rough in the bay some days depending on the boat traffic and wind, but the boat handles pretty good in a little rough chop. The only time I've been uncomfortable about the boat was in Pensacola bay and a storm kicked up and the waves got bad. Taking water over the bow isn't ever fun but we out ran the storm and got to more protected waters and all was well.
@@12waythereadventures84 heck yeah that’s awesome. I was worried about it being only 17ft. I’ve got a 14ft Jon boat but I’m planning on getting a pro skiff this time next year. I like the 19ft but I think it would be too big for magnolia river past the bridge on 49. We launch at weeks bay spend our weekends around that area but would like to hit the island a time or two. Thank you for the info and keep up the good work on the channel
@@creativeoutlander3893 I have not tried taking up all the way up magnolia river past the bridge yet. I'm not sure if it will clear it but I would think so. I tried to go under the 59 bridge that connects the lagoon to lake Shelby and the windshield and grab bar were just a couple inches too tall to fit. I'll have to take the kayak if I want to go fishing back there.
The ones on the console were factory from mako so I don't know the exact brand on those, but if u are talking about the ones I mounted on the sidewalls that hold 4 roads each here's a link to those. www.academy.com/p/marine-raider-portable-rod-rack. Hope this helps
I used clips designed to hold mops/brooms to hold my sand flea rake. I put one of those little loop bungees with the ball under the clip where it stays there & just & quick wrap around & it’s secure for bumps etc…
I will be putting it out soon. I filmed the first part of it last week, just gotta get time to shoot a few more clips and edit it. I'll try to get it uploaded asap! Thanks for watching!
On this model top, the rear height is stationary to the length of the rear support poles. You could mount the rear pole supports on a sliding track mount, or do away with the rear support poles and make some adjustable webbing straps like you tie the front down. My old top had straps on front and back and was super adjustable. Good luck and thanks for watching
My live wells have worked fine for me so far. I have only had one time the front livewell didn't fill for me. I guess it had an air pocket keeping it from pumping but I haven't had the issues with mine that I have heard others have had. I know there are some videos of how to fix the airlock issue on other channels if yours has issues.
I agree!!! I'm lucky enough to live down here where they practice all the time on the Alabama coast, but going to the homecoming Air show on the base at Nas Pensacola is on a whole new level!
I was filming so it took a little longer than if I wasn't setting up the cameras and stuff. I would say I could have had it assembled and installed in about two hours if I was steady working on it. What took the most time was test fitting and finding the best location to mount it because I didn't want to drill holes in the boat and then not like it and want to move it.
@@12waythereadventures84 test fit is ideal .. i just bought skiff 17 also and the guys drilled too far back and left the screws there and drill new holes .. now, i need to figure out how to fix those holes. Any ideas how to patch up those holes?
