How did you remove old Tikka Barrel so easy? When you torqued the action on new barrel to 80lbs, well, you didn't show that? How difficult was that? Did the barrel slip or get scratched at all? 80 is pretty high? Please do share more tips/techniques.
Everyone's a nit picker....including me. It looks like you were checking headspace with the firing pin in the bolt. I was taught to use a stripped bolt for a better "feel" of the headspace gauge....also the (uf equiped) plunger ejector needs to be removed for the same reason, not applicable hear, because if your manual ejector. I didn't catch what brand of rifle your were working on. Nice video.
Hey! A Remington 700 is going to require a bolt action barrel blank. We have many great barrel blank options that a gunsmith can chamber and fit to your Remington action.
I just found out about this brand and the moment I saw the MTR I fell in love and I would love to have one the only problem is I’m 15 and broke but the moment I turn 18 I’m going to the bank and going to apply for a loan but then get quickly reminded how expensive they are and settle for a good nap Of course I will be dreaming about the gun of course
My advise, get a decent rifle (rem700 clone or a tikka or something like that) and save up to replace the barrel or the stock or whatever in the future
I purchased a Proof Elevation in 6.5 CR, during the barrel break in process my second grouping was 0.46” with factory ammo. This thing is the real deal.
@@silvermediastudio it is sometimes amusing to make people violently angry at a dude named “queef sniffer” and I think you would agree. However the comments I made on this post were genuine.
@@Standardman9887 Agree. I've shot an Elevation MTR, they're slick as the devil, I'll be getting mine in .270Rem, haven't settled on a scope. I wish NF made a lightweight 1-8x50 F1 with illuminated MOAR.
No, the meat is taken out also. Its good. Watch the other “two billies” on the proof channel and you’ll see them eating goat tenderloin medallions sautéed in butter. Wonderful!
the meat is very tasty but there are some cuts which are extremely tough . some hunters say put the meat in a preasure cooker holding it down in there with a rock . once cooked throw away the meat and eat the rock lol
Son una chulada de barrels proof yo tengo dos y trabajan muy vien los tengo montados en acción remington 700 Calibre 6.5-284 Norma Los dos rifles saludos desde Hermosillo sonora
5 Proof rifles and more barrels than that on other rifles. Absolutely the finest and most accurate rifles I've ever shot. Used them hunting in many places around the world and have proven them on the hunting fields. Enjoy long range shooting and never let down by my rifles out to extreme ranges. Proof barrels improve the performance of my other rifles. Best I've ever used!
Thank you Michael. We do appreciate the kind words and you choosing to shoot PROOF. We take great pride in everything that we produce and it shows in the quality, performance and accuracy our products deliver!
You must be the only one laughing. Buying another rifle is more expensive and unnecessary. This system can be handy if you want one barrel for varmint and one for big game or if you compete and need to replace burned out barrels on a regular basis.
Dude just compare this to the merkel helix... which you can swap the barrel on without any tools, and it takes under a minute AND its a german made straight pull rifle...
Yeah if takedowns are your thing it wasn't essential for me but cool how it did it so fast and reloading is much faster but it stops there it was far less accurate then any off my other rifles even ones half the cost that's what really bothered me it is a quality design tho you'll know what I mean if you ever get one in your hands
@@kbh657- Blaser R8, Mauser M03, Sauer 404 are all better solutions with excellent accuracy. Proof makes an excellent barrel, but this is like going backwards to points, rotors and distributor caps. It works, but so does wiping your rear with a corn cob. No thank you.
What's the diff between this setup and the one used by Savage, beyond the price? lt's also not quite clear from the video whether the action is push, or CRF. While the bolt appears to be the type used with a push feed action, the video cleverly implies otherwise. Not dissing the rig, which looks nice, but c'mon guys, how about some facts, not just marketing?
Seems pretty darn easy. But you really should learn how to properly use a torque wrench if you're going to do educational videos. There is no way you torqued the barrel nut to 70 lb/ft - with the barrel nut adapter positioned like that, you're well over the torque spec. An extension/adapter has to be at 90 degrees to the wrench for it to be accurate, unless you've calculated and adjusted the set torque value for the angle and length of the adapter.
Bought mine last summer...Absolutely LOVE it, beyond expectations for accuracy, will shoot 6.5CM factory Hornady 143 ELD-X into teens! Has been amazing for hunting and playing around at long ranges, so far out to 1200, but have 3 more barrels coming, and cannot wait to get out there and get even more versatility...as well as some PRS style matches coming up this spring! You guys make AWESOME products, cannot brag you up enough! Thanks so much
