Just came from your desert dog review video. Actually pushed me to click the order button. Anyways was wondering how your paint is holding up considering you said duplicolor on your walk around video? I’m considering options for myself and wonder how yours has been holding up.

Heck yeah. Huge fan of the tires. Some of the paint has started to fade pretty bad, but the Jeep hasn't been stored indoors so sits in the sun every day. I also did not clear coat at the time.

A bigger pro is to save those hundreds of dollars and rock mountain house meals/MREs and canned foods grab a jetboil with a few cans of fuel and a big jug of water and save all that space time and money😁 if you are one that needs cold drinks get a small coleman cooler and freeze 10-15 bottles of water and add your choice of cold drinks and it all will stay cool for several days. But i get it to each their own lol

This video is just to help weigh the pros and cons so people can make their own decision. But hard to deny the benefits you can have with an overlanding fridge. This is for long term food storage if you want to bring real food to the trails.

I have the 2017 Rogue SV AWD. They came with those touring tires, within 5 days of purchase those tires came off and the largest off road AT "truck" tires that would fit went on, gave the brand new touring tires to the tech for free. The AT truck tires was the best decision ever with 100% handling performance gained.

Wife bought this for me. installed prior to taking a trip, but one did not turn on. The one that functions does not put out yellow. Just white light regardless of switch mode. Reached out to COLIGHT on email, phone, and their chat program with no reply or assistance to be seen. Its been 3 weeks now since installment and I am not sure if the company customer service or contact is legit....

I ran both Tru Tracs and Norseman tires back in the day. I'm excited to see them back, but their website does not list tire weight. Tire weight is a primary design criteria that I look at when choosing tires.
@engineeringoverland
@engineeringoverland 27 дней назад
I agree weight can be a big factor for power/mpg, but also keep in mind heavier tires keeps more weight low to the ground which can be beneficial for low speed crawling.

It's a shame that Armstrong is focusing on the BroDozer market with 20 inch wheel sizes instead of the real offroaders market where 17's are the go-to size. I'd buy a set of these if they were available as a 37 or 38 for a 17 inch wheel.

You're too young to of heard of them... 😀Pirelli bought Armstrong in the late 80s and in the early 90s, they phased them out. A friend who ran a Class 8 truck was sponsored by Armstrong Tire. As mentioned the Tru Trac 32-11.50-15 Bias Ply tire was the go to in the 70s... aired down to single digits. (I believe they were available in a radial briefly) We also ran aircraft tires here in the SW deserts... Gates Commando... Goodyear Hi-Miler... Firestone... Every tractor implement dealer sold some type of bias ply farm/off road tire., many ran them on Jeeps, FJ-40s, Broncos & Scouts... all the pick ups... Your aired down test shows why load range E tires should be left to heavier trucks and not Jeeps... sure folks run them, but there is no need.
@engineeringoverland
@engineeringoverland Месяц назад
It’s a good thing I’m really good at research then 😉. I study up when it comes to this offroad stuff. But saying there is no need to run a LR E tire mostly boils down to the fact that size availability sometimes limits you. I think this demo actually shows that they can work great with the right tire. Bias ply tires have even stiffer sidewalls. Which is why they NEED to be aired down to single digits. Seeing this sidewall flex at 5 psi is exactly why they can work well.

Excellent. We just bought a 24 Rogue SL premium with AWD. We live in a mountain area so I’ll be interested to see if it handles the terrain well. One question that I’ve asked and haven’t been given a clear answer on is this: when the Pro Pilot cruise applies the brakes, do the brake lights come on as well?
@engineeringoverland
@engineeringoverland Месяц назад
Typically, with any vehicle, if there is a system that applies the brakes for you, the brake lights will also turn on as normal. But I cannot say I have actual video proof of this with my Rogue.
