Being where you are, and not receiving hurricanes many hurricanes per uear, hopefully your new pier/dock will provide many years of enjoyment! Looks great!!
Bought the cheaper brushed version with a 3300mah 2s battery for 200 total. Seems like the cheaper is the route to go because you can bash it till the esc or motor burns up or if youre racing youre replacing everything anyways. For 200 a good basher out the box just need more batteries and a fast charger
This video is very helpful in my research to restore/upgrade my father and older brother's original Hornet. I'm not sure if mine will match yours in performance and parts quality but you've given me great insight.
Haha…yes..going 85 mph is extremely scary. But..I have gone just over 100 MPH in it too..that is a death wish!. Check out the description which says everything I have done to it…👍🇬🇧
@Archiscapes Tell me about it lol, I'm addicted to building them, it's lovely being able to relive our youth to some degree, I couldn't afford them back in the early 80s, certainly made up for it now lol. Love to see you do more videos if you get the chance, but I do understand you're a busy man.
Good looking build! 2 things to consider for those who will be building a dock: 1) I didn’t see any piling wrap. Any boring worm activity will destroy those pilings, or at the very least weaken them enough for a storm to snap them. That is a failure point. 2) when doing pressure treated decking boards, it is a good idea to use galvanized nails. The nails have less resistance to uplift than screws and the galvanized will weaken over time. This is an intentional failure point as it is less costly to replace deck boards than framing members.
Is this truck any good at racing or is it only good for bashing? I am very tempted to get this and start racing (don't have budget for anything more expensive).
You don’t need anything..if you like Tamiya electronics..good! It’s up to the individual if they want to customize their buggy/ car. That’s what’s great about our hobby. I have buggies with the original Tamiya electronics from the 80’s..they are fun. But I also like the Brushless Reedy/ lipo electronics too.
OK watched your TR6 video, now you got me hooked on more vids, nicely done! The hornet was a big deal when I was a kid, always dreamed of owning one, may have to fulfil that dream!
Thankyou…yes, by leaving gaps between boards it allows the water surge to just pass over dock…as opposed to having no spaces (like my old dock) where the surge will lift it up and wash it away!
@@archiscapes1503 also made my own servo arm got rid of the wire one.so made one out of the vantage front steering arm no slack or wobble or popping out as on the ball joint linkage love makingvthings better on the cheap.
You are right…every time I took the truck out on Dirt track, especially after rain..the inside got completely covered in wet clay! So much so, that the motor would over heat. I only realized what that was for when a friend told me. I should have known!!
I have a SC104X4. Honestly I dont like it. I have an issue with one of the gearboxes has a bind in it. I have put new diff gears new idler gears new topshafts and new front gearbox case. Nothing remedies it. There is a binding on one of the trans no matter how I assemble them. It eats Batt and motors like snacks. It is fast but the gearboxes are really hard to get to to change the bearings on the F/R diffs.
@@archiscapes1503 IDK. Iv heard lots like it n lots dont. I like it but it seems really reliant on the lldiff bearings and pulley bearings with needed to he replaced often. I just had a bad experience with it. I Love AE so I wanna live it. But I don't.
Enjoyed the unveiling, full of anticipation but what no batteries? Anyway you solved the issue and another great around the track sequence. Well done !
That TA original body is a thing of beauty. They don't make that style anymore but they do have a newer version with the Pro4 SC10 truck. I love mine! Nice and fun video. 😀
