I'm a huge fan of video games and especially game music (Crash Bandicoot, Gran Turismo, Okami and so on) and I'm trying to show that by making my own VGM arrangements with virtual instruments. Occasionally I'll upload some original compositions too.

@@StonerSquirrel Thanks! It's been a while but I opted to not use palm mutes for the main riff because the mutes they recorded were too tight for the riff which originally utilizes a sort of half-muted notes.
@@StonerSquirrel Yes. I think they only recorded one palm mute layer, although they added a slider to adjust the tightness, but that still doesn't enable you to do those half mutes with long decay
@@StonerSquirrel it can still do some nice mutes, don't get me wrong, but this riff needs those half mutes and tbh those don't sound great even with the guitars that have them. It's hard to make this riff sound right with VST guitars
This is so beautiful, thank you very much for sharing your take on this track! 😊I'm definitely fond of the combination of the low whistle with cello (along with the tin whistle), it really gives new "colours" that are as interesting as the ones from the original version!
Combining folk, classical, electric, and metal together for one of my favorite ambient tracks from one of my favorite childhood games? This is freaking AMAZING.
@@Sean081799 Thanks! Original plan was to just use harp, bass, nylon guitar but the other layers just felt natural to add to keep the arrangement going
Duuude! I've been going through your channel and you're soo good at using VST guitars! Really awesome work! And on top of that, your non-guitar compositions/arrangements sound great too! I love it! Great mixing :)
@@Tremendouz Heh, looks like you found them already. They're exactly the ones you've commented on haha I haven't produced much, but I'm hoping in the near future I'll be able to make some more stuff I'm proud of to put out there! :)
Loved it! I would never have guessed the "singer" was a synth plug in. I've just started playing around with the free version of Synthesizer V (with Solaria LITE), and I have to say that I am seriously blown away by the potential of the technology. No more listening to my dodgy vocals on my original compositions! 🤣 Once again, fantastic work, mate! Be well.
@@Oinnelstan Thanks! SynthV is seriously mind-blowing. Now if only you could use your DAW piano roll instead of the built in one in the plugin, that would be great.
Never heard of it till this past week either -- just happened to go snooping around the Ample Sound website and noticed a big wooden peacock. Sounds lovely... But if you ask me, they missed a great opportunity to call it the AMPLE COCK, lol.
@@NK-rv2rz for the clean arpeggio track, I enabled the keyboard mode as you can see in the GUI. That way I could play the arpeggios without the limitations of guitar fingering getting in the way
Wonderful work - it's really impressive how live you're getting those midi parts to sound! This has a very satisfying structure, too - love how it builds up to quasi-symphonic rock sound, with all parts wonderfully balanced! I'm glad you were able to join us for this competition again!
Hi, great how you make every virtual guitar sound real. Respect. You have almost all VST guitars. Which one is best suited for thrash and black metal.relatively fast playing like Exodus or dimmu Borgir. You don't need an 8 or 9 string guitar for this kind of music. Thank you very much
Thanks! I personally like S3 Jupiter a lot if you need lots of fast, repeated mutes, even if the tone is a bit muddy so I often do a low end cut on the DI signal before amp. See my previous video for an example with Jupiter. Hydra is more versatile overall because it has extended range and includes neck pickup as well. Ample Metal Hellrazer and Eclipse are great but need some extra humanization for fast repeated palm mutes because the samples are so consistent and clean that it can sound somewhat robotic otherwise. It's a very different vibe from Shreddage and sometimes one works better than the other
@@TremendouzThank you for the quick reply, I will have a look at it. What is your opinion on Prominy VMetal and heavier7 Strings which has a chord recognition for continuous chords. Which is often used in black metal. And they sound very authentic
@@reperias V-metal is technically a very fine guitar but I just don't like its sound, it's very nasal. Heavier7strings is cool too and has very clean and consistent sound but something about the tone sounds very synthetic.
@@TremendouzOK thanks again for your answer, one more question. You once mentioned in an old comment that you like the shreddage rogue best together with the legacy, meanwhile you would prefer Jupiter?
@@reperias I don't remember ever saying Rogue is the best. If I did, it might have been by mistake. Legacy has cool palm mutes for power metal (clearer tone than Jupiter) but Jupiter is sampled more deeply so it'd be my overall choice.
