The transmission has straight cut gears instead of helical unlike modern manuals, these were easier to manufacture and are better suited for racing applications but are horrible for normal use, hence why he also has to double clutch / blip on up shifts and are really loud
Buddy… that’s not the point. You do realize the car probably has less than 60 horsepower right? It’s a car of its time being driven in this time. That’s what’s being appreciated here. Not its speed you shallow minded soul.
When the car is fully stopped, the clutch pedal must be depressed and then hold the gear stick a little bit pressed like already start changing gear. Now you can feel, when the gears are fully stopped and only then you put to the first gear. No more cracks & booms and better for the gears.
That does look fun. The sounds are not what I expect from a near 100 year old design. I will experience this tomorrow when I take ours out for a test drive after major service. Thank you for the inspiration. And that is a nice looking Speed Six by the overhead door.
…just an fyi…chalices are used in Holy Communion…what were in the liquor cabinets were small tulip glasses for liqueurs and silver brandy snifters… …possibly a bit more research would prevent unfortunate and needless gaffes, which cause actual and knowledgeable individuals to stop your most unfortunate vlog…b never to subscribe…and never to give any future utterances on your part the least bit of attention or credibility… …you have justly earned a place on my “do not recommend this channel” listing… …go away, grow up…become a tad more knowledgeable than you are currently, dear boy…😮😢⚠️🆘
It's not FOGETABLE. Respect. The constructor of this 🚘car is really "the 👨🎨Artist-the man"!!! Frank Sinatra... "The Voice":" The car" =1:1=classic:classic... Yes, yeah, ya, Horus with Frankie: ... Yes we will love you (Packard 12) allways&all the way... Pardon for my bad 🤦♂😔😭franch It is not oldtimer=>it is alltimer...
The Sportsman is featured in the film The Reincarnation of Peter Proud and I recently had the pleaure of meeting the current owner and viewing the car ( albiet undercover ) .
There is a logical progression as Bentley improved their cars post WWII. Starting from the 1946 Mk.6 via the R type to the S series. Many parts are compatible. Continentals are desirable but in my view overpriced. My 1948 Mk.6 SS is not for sale and yes, it's my everyday car..
I saw one back in early 80’s parked in someone’s back yard in Pensacola, Fl, parked alongside the chain link fence with a dirt road running along side of it, it had weeds growing all around it and covered in dust. It caught my eye because I had a 70 Ghia and was hunting another one. I couldn’t figure out back then what it was and I even went back several times to find the owner but never was successful and eventually it was gone. Sure would’ve liked to have that car today. Very nice car you have.
