Nice video..we have a small gassifier stove , gass burner, fire dragon and hubby made spirit stoves which work really well... Sarah's not the only one who takes her proper pillow camping 😀
hey Calum, Stanly makes a real nice budget cook set and GSI makes a stove with a nice big burner so you get more heat area on a skillet or larger pot. also Coleman peak 1 is a good stove. both of those stoves are I believe less than 30 dollars and they work really well. Dwayne
Nice change of pace this time, Calum. Sarah’s good on camera too isn’t she? I worked for a company which fitted a biomass boiler to Ardnamurchan distillery (Adelphi) when it set up around 2012, so it became a very eco friendly operation, the first 10 yos appeared fairly recently, I think. Good to hear that the whisky gets the thumbs up if it’s the same place. I’ve always wanted to try and visit but it’s pretty remote, well off the A roads in Ardnamurchan. Colin
That's very kind of you friend. I'll be on the look out for the 10yo Ardnamurchan for sure! I'm a big fan, never been, but I'd love to visit the distillery.
SooJa has noticed the worlds most expensive camping food, has welfare concerns and is on her way right now in a Hercules to do an air drop. On Catspaw we do one pan meals, uses tinned curries and potatoes and ordinary supermarket boil in bag rice meals. And Bulgogi too sometimes. Maybe that's what's coming in your air drop? (Basecamp meals by walking standards as weight less of an issue.)
I loved these two but had the same experience when the clag just would not dissipate. I eat very little on the hills and afterwards simply due to tiredness. Anyway thanks for sharing a very convivial experience. Best wishes Murdo
Cheers very much pal :) You are spot on... I shouldn't complain really... I am very fortunate to be able to get out into beautiful landscapes as often as I do.
Love your videos...unfortunately with arthritis I can no longer go up the hills. I'm curious, you never mention clegs! How do you keep them away? They love me!! It's not mutal.
Thanks so much, that really means a lot. You are right, I don't mention Clegs... and quite honestly, I don't know why... they must be around, maybe I just don't pay too much attention to them. I'll definitely be aware now that you've mentioned it. Thanks again for watching :)
Sometimes you get views, sometimes you don't... thats just the way of it. As you say, they are in the bag and I have a lovely day, so no real complaints. Thanks for watching :)
Great video, thanks for sharing. Nothing worse than trudging through bog... only to be confronted by heather bashing just when you think the hard bits done 😱 Pizza all the way for us, not sure what all the concern about having pizza two nights in a row was all about 😂 atb K & R
These two mountains sure threw it all at us. What an amazing experience. PIZZA is LIFE! I think you should NEVER limit yourself when it comes to Pizza. thanks for watching dude :)
If you don't laugh, you'll cry Janice. I just remind myself that I am extremely fortunate to have the opportunities to do what I do. Thanks for watching :)
A pub in Yorkshire, after a long walk over the moors - 12km or so. Into the pub, and they asked Do you want some food? Yes. There was no menu. You got pie and mushy peas. That rang the bells perfectly.
Really enjoyed that one callum. Forgot to comment on your last one. Been a shame you’ve had big after bog hikes lately. Still a nice wee entertaining video bud
@@LarryBees you’ve probably regressed the trauma from that day…. But aye… cups of good tea make even the hardest hills enjoyable :) thanks for watching pal :)
Well done on getting to the half way mark Calum. Great video - I did these two a few weeks ago and the ascent up to Beinn Heasgarnich almost ended me! Got the bogfest at the bottom during a hot spell so it was fairly forgiving. Good luck with the next 141 - upwards and onwards to compleation!
Thanks so much Mike. Awwww.. that ascent from the bealach to Heasgarnich will stay with me for all the wrong reasons haha! I think we timed the bog just right too, as some of it was dried out, whilst other bits were soggy. Cheers again fella!
@@laurasanderson8639 thanks so much pal. I wish you the best of times on your Munro and mountain adventures. For the brack, if you follow the Walk Highlands recommendation… the parking is just off the A83 at the old Ardgarten Visitor Centre
Absolutely well done mate. Well done on the half way mark. I hope I get their one day. Am only sitting at 38 at the moment. I seen your post on Facebook on the I am bagging munro group. You speak so well to the camera. I wish I could speak so well lol. I usually do a silent hike and play some music on my videos. Well done. ATVB Alan
@@MyScottishAdventures you are very kind Sir and I really appreciate it. You’ll get there… it’s taken me the best part of 15 years to get to half way. But what a journey it has been. Keep on plodding on!!
@@scottishtrails honestly… there was a lot of bog, but you can pick your way through if you are sensible. It’s consistently long… that’s the kicker, and that took me by surprise
@@alistairthow1384 Totally agree. It's a good thing I'm not disheartened by a boggy pathless mountain, because I think it's only going to get worse haha!
well congratulations Calum on getting halfway. that was a really nice hike with some great views. the Scottish countryside is just so beautiful. Dwayne
Great effort. I did them a couple of years ago on a day when the weather completely closed in. Navigation was really tricky, although the clouds lifted in time for us to see the second Munro from the bealach and realise how horribly steep and long it looked. Met some nice people and spent the day with them, so that was a consolation, but it was a massive day out. Great part of the country though. Well played. Best wishes Murdo
Cheers Murdo. Aye, massive day indeed. I'm super chuffed with myself thinking about it now, but at the time, it was painful. What a priviledge eh! Thanks for watching :)
Aye, they aren't the most pleasant pair. I don't know about you, but the sense of achievement afterwards was something else. I feel like after scaling these two I can do anything! 🤣🤣
Great video again Calum. It was worth it!Congrats on reaching halfway and on completing that tough challenge. I like your choices of music. Some of it will feature in films on my channel that I’ve finished but not uploaded yet. Not copying, honest!
Cheers pal :) upon reflection, it was total worth it and I do feel awesome about having bagged these two, and reaching half way. We need tough challenges in order to grow don't we. Thanks again for watching, and I look forward to seeing how you use the music :)
It would have been most unpleasant in a white-out. It wasn't too difficult to navigate to be fair, and I was very happy when the sun eventually did break through. Thanks for watching :)
Cheers pal :) What a feeling it is to be half-way. I've just about recovered now, and I can reflect on a what a privilege it is to be able to do what I do.
Great effort Calum, we attempted this on Saturday morning, summited An Gearanach then decided to turn back as the weather was awful, strong gusts, rain and cloud 😂, whole point of doing the route was to view the ridge. Always Next time. Planning again for September hopefully! Thanks for the video 👍🏻
Calum I love your videos, I’m not a mountain climber but my boyfriend is and we so enjoy watching you. No matter the conditions, you’re always smiling 😁 I hope Harry Gow gives you a years supply of dream rings for the last video 😂👌🏻
Seonaid, you are very kind. I really appreciate you saying that, and for watching my videos. How can you not smile when in the Scottish Mountains? We have some magical landscapes. Have you not been tempted to get out into the hills with your boyfriend? And... If you want to email HARRY GOW's and ask them to sponsor me, then that would be grand with me, HA!
@@calumpaterson123 Calum, Ben has some choice words about when a smile might vanish, polite translation is….when the rain is running down your butt cheeks and the view is non existent 😂 I fear to say, I think I may be forced up a mountain in the near future….i can’t promise there will be a smile on my face 😂 and I most certainly will email Harry Gow 👌🏻
Good stuff Calum. 1:14 haha, oof, right at the start of the walk too. Squelchy day out. Got some waterproof socks recently, but not fallen in any bogs yet to test them out.
Wee RHU could've kept going for hours... when we got home he was still keen to play with the ball in the garden, while the rest of us were all burst, HA!
When I did this round years ago the second hill was indeed a Munro. If it hadn’t been we might have missed it out, silly purists that we were. The Corbett is in my view the better of the two hills. I don’t remember the bog funnily enough, just that steep direct climb up Coruisk in the clag. Fortunately the skies cleared at the top and the walk on to the Corbett was great. Once again you’ve managed to rekindled great memories so thanks.
