Don't Underestimate This Lonely Mountain | Beinn Bhuidhe

Beinn Bhuidhe is a Munro isolated from any others, and the long walk in means it is much less visited than the nearby Arrochar Alps, despite it having rough and rocky slopes in places. The approach described here is the traditional one following a private road up the glen (can be cycled) and then a rugged ascent; it is possible instead to make use of an ugly new hydro track from near where the route crosses the river until around 550m, where the track crosses the route described.

This is my favourite Munro. Suprises most folk but i love it. Love the cycle in, love the walk past the wee house, like the pull up the slope, love the last rocks section to the summit and love the glen walk down. The views too. And often quiet.

It is so quiet... I was up on a Sunday, and I saw a hand full of people the whole day. Totally agree... cracking walk in, great climb and spectacular views. Thanks for watching :)

Hey Callum, I like all your videos and subscribed a couple months or so ago. Living in Pennsylvania, what I enjoy seeing are the wide open mountain vistas and also liked seeing as you said, the farm animals, and people's homes, the bothys. It would be interesting to know what kind of stone the mountains are made of, the plants, wild animals and birds. Thanks for all "the things you do for good footage".

Calum I enjoyed your upload and subscribed. For content I liked when you were scrambling, your experience of the scramble. That's the kind of focus I really enjoy when watching RU-vid uploads on hillwalking and the rest is pleasant to watch with the views etc. From another uploader of Munros I watched a lot of on RU-vid he kept saying as he hiked Munro after Munro that it was steep. He just kept expressing all the time how steep every hike was. For example Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond) is mentioned as a steep ascent but it's not all that bad in reality. That's my feed back and look forwards to more uploads with scrambling or exposure highlights :-)

nice vid. something i've seen on other peoples vids is perhaps a location map for orientation, and a bit of a 'what you can see from the top' might also help. but i found it easy to watch an nicely personal. don't know this area at all as the cobbler is the nearest hill i've been up, so looking forward to following your tracks. envious weather and solitude there. atb with the channel

You come across very naturally in the video, very engaging. Be good to show the start point / parking place .. thatsxalways useful. How did you find the hydro track? A gentler way up?
@calumpaterson123
@calumpaterson123 Год назад
Thanks so much Paddy! Yeah, I did wonder about whether or not showing the parking / start point would be interesting enough. I'm not sure how to do graphics yet, but that might be my next challenge. The Track was very pleasant going, I think it might be a tad too boring on the way up, but on the way down it was totally fine.

Thanks for posting Callum. I really enjoy your videos. Not familiar with this climb, so will put it on my 'to do' list. By the way, which way would you choose now for the accent? All the best. DG
@calumpaterson123
@calumpaterson123 Год назад
Thanks DG, that's really kind of you to say. I reckon I would probably go the same way up, but rather than taking the forestry track down, I'd try the circular route as described in walk highlands. There is definitely a few possibilities for routes up and down this one.

Fabulous video. Thanks so much. I'm looking to do this hill tomorrow, and you've really captured the essence of the experience for me. Must confess, I'm a bit of a fearty when it comes to the straight up the way / steep ascents (after almost 200 Munros, it still irks me!)... but I've taken encouragement from your video here. Thanks again.

The only problem with your vids is that I can't get up there anymore, being too ancient. So extremem envy kicks in. (As for brutal, the hike up Am Bodach for the Aonach Eagach is there, walking out of Yosemite up gives no respite) Cheers. Keep it up.

@calumpaterson123
@calumpaterson123 Год назад
Thanks so much pal :) The track was pleasant going down, a bit boring like, but pleasant all the same. One thing to bare in mind is which branch of the track you take, because one takes you out at the wee bridge (which is what you want) and the other takes you out at the Building Site a few K's down the path (which is what you don't want, as there is no access through the construction site).

It's steep, but it's a smashing walk... I would say that Beinn Bhuidhe is more undulating than Ben More. It's actually the long walk in on that road that is the biggest challenge, because it's boring in places, LONG and the hard track can be killer on the feet. BUT... the summit views are amazing, in all directions. You'll enjoy it pal :)
