This is exactly what I was looking for but did not know how to ask it. "How can I learn the minimum of *general* principles to make up sounds that work together !
this is the best video i watched explained about this CAGED system and A Major scale.. I just started to learn to play Electric Guitar for 4 months now and this video really helps a lot! thank you!
Just found your channel, This lesson is legendary! If you don't mind me asking what software are you using to show the notes of the scale on the fretboard?
Holy crap amazing video I feel like I just unlocked the rest of the game of music I had one question if anyone could help In the small section where he talks about root notes he’s in the key of A mag and he’s sliding through the a note in the scales but why is this important to memorize?
I know this video is older. But this just flicked on a lightbulb. I don't understand why it was difficult for other people to explain this concept but you're a fantastic teacher
Hey! I'm trying to download the PDF from this lesson, but somehow it's not working. Does anyone know where I can find it or can someone share it? Thanks!!
It's 5:54 a.m. I just finished watching the whole video. I learned so much, thank you. I've been playing guitar for 2 years and just started learning about songwriting and music theory. You’ve cleared 90% of my questions. I would've joined your patreon but $12 is not even my monthly pocket money, so I don’t think that is going to happen in a long time. But I promise, whenever I create something of my own, I'll email you for sure. Thank you so much, sir.
I've been wanting to learn how to solo all over the neck for the longest. I always wondered how guitarists do it. Thank you so much for simplifying this technique!
Thanks bro, your videos help me a lot in learning some music theory but most of techniques in learning and understanding playing guitar. God bless bro.
Are the fret numbers the same for each CAGED chord shape pattern as you go up the fret board? Like fret3, fret5, etc, no matter if you start with C or A or G, etc?
Instead of focusing on fret numbers, think about each shape and how they connect to each other. The relationship between shapes is always the same and always in the same CAGED order, which means each root note for each shape will always be the same NUMBER of frets away from its neighboring root notes
Just getting back into learning guitar after a long time of doubting myself…coming back to this video and it is just as helpful as it was a couple years ago. Really appreciate you.
Dumb question when you’re playing the caged system as in the recording that you were playing I believe it was in the key of a when the melody goes to a D do you play the D caged system when it goes to the C Do you play in the sea caged system? So when the melody goes to a certain cord do you play in that particular cord caged system?
Thank you @ScottPaulJohnson You just simplified something that I was so scared of even trying because it has seemed so daunting to me. You are a truly genius with that camera and the chord shapes that you display on the fret board.
At 16:00 minutes in, can someone PLEASE tell me how that makes an A shape behind the G? The A shape is always 3 notes on top of each other. I don’t see that in this shape. I’m so lost and frustrated at this point.
