This channel is about Brazil, I want to show you off-the-beaten-path places, amazing beaches, paradisiac islands, hidden gems you wish you knew about. The Brazil you have never heard of. The places you dreamt you could visit. The stories about people you want to hear.
The plan is to go around Brazil and go in-depth into places other travel channels just brush over, and I hope I can have you accompanying me along the way.
I am starting with Rio, as this is where I am from, but we will soon expand to go to each and every corner of the country.
If you want to find out more about Brazil, stick around, and let's discover it. Together.
I did travel alone, yes. I felt apprehensive by what everybody I was telling me (I am originally from Rio), but nothing happened and there was police all around. I think the feeling is similar to what people talk about Rio, everybody says it is extremely dangerous but in reality if you are sticking to the tourist areas, you should be fine. My trip to Salvador was amazing, and despite the apprehensiveness, I felt safe overall!
Thanks for the reply. I’ve been to Rio alone and agree that by using common sense and sticking to tourist areas, all should be good. I’ll use the same approach in Salvador.
Thank you so much for this informative and straightforward video. A lot of information is endorsed and it’s hard to decipher what is authentic. My birthday is NYE & I wanted to celebrate the Brazilian NYE tradition. I even hired a tutor to help learn Brazilian Portuguese. Considering it will be crowded, very hot and expensive I will plan to visit May-July. Crowds aren’t my thing. 😊Thanks again.
Thank you so much for the compliment! It means a lot to me! And yes, year end tends to be the most crowded of all times, after carnival. Very glad my video was helpful and hope you enjoy your trip. Ps: if at some point you do decide to visit during your bday, go to the sugarloaf party for NYE, absolutely gorgeous view of the fireworks. Tickets are usually on sale in September. Haven’t been for the NYE party there yet, but it is on my bucket list for sure :)
@@tripsterpanda Muitissimo obrigada! I wish your channel much success. I am binge watching and creating my itinerary using your videos. Especially where to stay and safety since I will be traveling solo. Mais uma vez, muito obrigada. 🍀🍀
Oi Jackson!
Pra Salvador, o verão (dez-mar) é melhor, pois naquela região é o período menos chuvoso, diferente do Rio, onde chove menos no inverno.
The metro has signs in English. Also, as Portuguese uses the same alphabet as English, you should be able to read the station stops. Google maps and the metro map will also help you with this
Thanks for the video. One suggestion, though, is to turn down the background music a bit. There's a few parts that are hard to understand because the background music is too loud.
Hey everyone, this video was filmed before they changed the start date a couple of times. The new date is April 2025. If there are meaningful changes to the visa process, I will post here, but for now, I haven’t heard of any news
After I published this video, the visas were delayed and now the plan is April 2025. If you are Canadian, American, or Australian, you shouldn’t need a visa until that date. After that, it will be the online process as mentioned in the video
Bonjour, Adriana :) Yes, the restaurants open during the week for lunch and dinner. You can also check on google maps their working hours. I filmed this video on a Tuesday, everything was quiet but still open. Well worth a visit!
Hi, these are the places I usually hear people recommending. I am not affiliated with any if them, nor have I ever stayed in them, but here they are: Ipanema Inn Mar Ipanema Praia Ipanema Hotel Sol Ipanema Hotel Fasano Hotel Hotel Arpoador
Thanks for the video, as it really helped me while I was in Rio last month! I especially agree with your choice of restaurants. I ate at Belmonte and Pavao Azul several times during my stay there and thought the food was excellent!! Keep up the good work!!
Eu já tenho essa câmera tem um tempo, não sei quanto está custando agora. Mas tem um link pra procurar ela em quase todas as descrições dos meus vídeos, dá uma olhada lá 🥰
You can reach out to the consulate in your jurisdiction to check. Currently the visa is postponed until 2025, and it is only for citizens from the USA, CAN, and AUS
Thank you for making this it was so helpful! Can you please make a video about shopping? Where do locals get household items/toiletries? What are the main chains stores? What is sold at the 'street bazars'? Where to get touristy stuff, etc. That kind of stuff. That's another video that would be super helpful, thank you!!😊
Hi Kris, I will def try and have one like that. I have a couple of other similar videos that might be helpful: search for the one about souvenirs, street market, and the cost of living, these three videos can give you some extra insight on your questions in the mean time
I don’t know of any schools but I do use duolingo for other languages, maybe that’s a start? For free you might find it on public universities or charities, especially those aimed at refugees and migrants.
Hi Ana, I just discovered you. I have some questions about Brazil because I'm planning to visit and even live some time there. Where can I contact you?
Hello! I am usually most active here on youtube, however, I also have instagram, but I don’t use it so frequently, so might not reply to it as quickly.
@@tripsterpanda ok, so I ask that here for now: I'm from Italy so I read that I can stay in Brazil up to 90 days without a Visa, however if I want to stay more (say 6 months for example), what I can do? I read about the digital nomad visa but do I need to have a contract or can I obtain it even with a small gig (that produce by now almost nothing) and some cash that can afford me to live?
You need to extend your visa with the Federal Police in Brazil. They will know how to proceed with it for you. I don’t think you need a nomad visa if you will only stay for 180 days, but if more, then yes, you should consider. If they didnt change the requirements for the nomad visa, you need to prove USD 1500/month or 18,000 USD in total in your account. I would also suggest reaching out to the Brazilian consulate to ask them about these specifics and also to get a CPF, similar to the codice fiscale. Having a cpf will probably allow you to: buy cheaper internal flights on the domestic website, getting a supermarket loyalty card and get discounts when you getting groceries, easier to get a sim card for your mobile without depending on others. I suggest you get this number before going to Brazil if at all possible. Have a lovely trip!
This is extremely concise and helpful. Thank you so much! For future videos, you may want to increase the volume of your speaking and reduce the volume of the background music. I had the volume up to 100%, but still had trouble hearing you clearly. Had to turn on the captions. Other than that, this video is absolutely perfect!!!
Thanks for the feedback! We did notice it in a few of the videos and took steps to correct it, hopefully the more recent videos have better sound balance. Thank you so much for the compliment and the feedback as well!
This video is amazing and I love that you didn't shy away from being honest about Salvador's past while still showing its beautiful culture of today. I can't wait until I have an opportunity to go there!
It is an unfortunate past but that shaped our country. Most of the things people enjoy nowadays about Brazil has its roots on African culture: carnival, samba, traditional dishes, new years eve traditions. I am glad you liked the video, thank you for being here!
Hi, I have drafted videos about it a couple of times but I have not yet found a consistent and easy way for foreigners to do it. There is also a lot of differences depending where you get your sim card or which operator you choose. Once I am able to pin down a consistent process, I will definitely make a video about it. Thanks for the suggestion!
I absolutely agree! In theory, all tourists should have a cpf number in Brazil, but no one really does it, as it is just a pain and not really useful once you leave the country. I think that if they had options for tourists to do things without a cpf in Brazil, things would be much easier! In any case, you have options like e-sims, which allows you to get connected in Brazil without all the hassle. This is my affiliate link, if you would like to check. airalo.tp.st/TZ95Jztj I might earn a small commission but there is no additional cost to you, should you decide to use their products.
@@tripsterpanda I had bad experiences using Airalo last year in Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan 😡 Airalo couldn’t connect to ANY telcos in those 3 countries. I ended up buying esims/simcards from the shops in those 3 countries. They work brilliantly ! My question is : Have you been using Airalo in Brazil ? Because if you don’t, you are just like billions (yes so many of them !! Haha 😝) of scammers out there who promote Airalo but never been to the actual countries they said Airalo works.
@@tripsterpanda OOO yes...Rio was fantastic and very beautiful ,we also were in Sao Paulo - also very cool, interesting and lot things to do :) Looking forward next time to visit Brazil 🇧🇷 ❤
In the south of the Netherlands we actually celebrate Carnaval. The vibe is comparable to King's Day, but then 5 days on a row and with a lot of tradition.
Hey! That’s so interesting! Does it happen during the same days of carnival as per the Christian calendar, like Brazil? Also, where do you think it would be a good place to go for the real dutch carnival? Maybe I will check it out one of these years :)
@@tripsterpanda Yes, Carnaval is exactly the same Christian tradition (just with worse weather :). You can go anywhere in Brabant or Limburg. There are parades with floats in every town and city like you have, just more Dutch and often themed around local issues (Google Image search "carnaval Nederland"). In Rotterdam in the summer there is Zomercarnaval ("summer carnival"), which has a parade that looks more like yours, as it is in the summer. Real Carnaval though is only being celebrated in the South.
@@tripsterpanda Yes, it's during the same days as in Brazil. It is celebrated in the Catholic villages and towns. These are mainly in the south of the Netherlands. Pretty much every village has his own parade and activities. I do not really have a recommendation because I stay pretty much in my own village during Carnaval.
