Thank you so much for this informative and straightforward video. A lot of information is endorsed and it’s hard to decipher what is authentic. My birthday is NYE & I wanted to celebrate the Brazilian NYE tradition. I even hired a tutor to help learn Brazilian Portuguese. Considering it will be crowded, very hot and expensive I will plan to visit May-July. Crowds aren’t my thing. 😊Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the compliment! It means a lot to me! And yes, year end tends to be the most crowded of all times, after carnival. Very glad my video was helpful and hope you enjoy your trip. Ps: if at some point you do decide to visit during your bday, go to the sugarloaf party for NYE, absolutely gorgeous view of the fireworks. Tickets are usually on sale in September. Haven’t been for the NYE party there yet, but it is on my bucket list for sure :)

Another video where Tripster Panda gives us valuable tips. It is important to know the best time to travel, especially because Brazil is huge, made up of 27 states, with cultural, gastronomic diversity and natural beauty. Thanks Tripster 🐼!

Thanks for the overview. With a country as big as a continent, it's valuable to know when to go where. Do you still have a bit water in Lençois Maranheses during the dry season or it just looks like a desert outside the rainy season?
@tripsterpanda
@tripsterpanda 10 месяцев назад
You do have some lagoons that are visible all year long, but they are very few and far in between, so you don't get to see the marvelllous landscape of the several lagoons as you saw on the video b roll. It will look mostly as a desert as you rightfully said (which we use to film Brazilian soap operas that for one reason or another need to look like people are in the Sahara)

We are planning to visit Rio this August. Can you recommend hotels in the Lebron and Ipanema areas?

Hi Ana! What's the name of the bar with the red umbrellas (4:26)? Also, I'm traveling to Brazil from May until the end of June and I was thinking to visit Porto de Galinhas, Praia dos Carneiros, Salvador, but after watching your video I'm not sure it will be the right thing to do. What do you think about Belo Horizonte, Ouro Preto, Congonhas and then Paraty and Trinidade instead? Will the weather be better there? Thank you so much for the help! 😊
@tripsterpanda
@tripsterpanda 9 месяцев назад
Hi Fabienne, that one is Confeitaria Colombo, in the Copacabana Fortress. I speak more about it on my Copacabana video. You need to pay a fee to go inside the fort, and the restaurant is usually crowded, so going as soon as it opens for breakfast on a weekday usually has less queues. In terms of rain, yes, that area in the northeast will be on their rainy season, but it is always warm in there, so if you don’t mind some tropical rain, it could still be a good option. The other area you mention will be way less rainy and out of high season, so very nice to visit! Maybe add a day trip to Mariana (sister town to Ouro Preto) to your itinerary too, if you choose the later. Paraty always have something going on during the weekends, so check their cultural calendar to see what will be on when you are there.

Ana….i am coming to Rio in August all being well..I am doing a little research and understand there is an influx of dengue fever at the moment?!..is this a regular occurrence for this time of year or should I take extra precautions when I come?..thank you
@tripsterpanda
@tripsterpanda 7 месяцев назад
Hello! Dengue is seasonal and happens every year around end of summer/early spring. That being said, this year there was a significant increase in cases due to the La Niña weather phenomenon and climate change, which has impacted the rain regimen and allowed the mosquito that transmits the disease to proliferate abundantly. In August, the rainy season, at least in Rio, is over, so by then I don’t think there is an expectation of there being many cases. In fact, August is typically one of the driest months, so the occurrence should be pretty low, if any. There are two main precautions you can take: use insect repellent (especially during the day, when the dengue mosquito is more active) and try to get the dengue vaccine where you are from. I think it is a two dose vaccine, 3 months apart. Lastly, if you do get dengue while in Brazil, (joint pain, red spots on the skin, and pain behind the eyes are common symptoms), do not auto medicate (some pain relievers can make dengue worse), drink loads (really, loads) of water and see a doctor. TL, DR: August is not particularly dangerous for dengue, wear bug repellent, don’t auto medicate and drink LOADS of liquids if you contract the disease.

@@EkaterinaZolotova dengue can occur throughout the year, but it is more common during summer and beginning of autumn (jan-may being worse). I would just make sure to use repellent every time

Hi, I personally have mixed feelings about visiting a favela, but it is possible doing that with a tour, there are many available on the tours websites like tripadvisor and viator. Not sure I would recommend a foreigner to go in by themselves. As per the bar, I am not familiar with it, but with a quick google search it looks like it is a famous place, so probably very safe to go to, I would assume.

Sorry to bother you Ana, i saw a post you sent about delay of Visa requirements for US until April. I’m going to try and get to Rio before then Carnival will be over would you say it’s an ok time to travel as well?
@tripsterpanda
@tripsterpanda 9 месяцев назад
@@christophertaylor5286no bother! And yes, carnival this year starts on February 10th, so now that the deadline has been postponed to April 10th, you should be ok to go with the current visa process. As usual, this only applies if you are American, Canadian, or Australian. Any other citizenship, like British has no change in process at this time.

Me and a friend plan on traveling to Brazil sometime in 2025 and I'm telling you every time I watch one of these videos I get more and more confused.
@tripsterpanda
@tripsterpanda 5 месяцев назад
It can be confusing indeed! Brazil is gigantic, so it will contain many weathers in one. I suggest you either decide what month you can go and then make an itinerary, or if your days are flexible, check where you want to go and plan accordingly for the best probable weather.
@andrearin8383

@@tripsterpanda okay, let me ask it like this, if I wanted to take a trip there next year, what would be the perfect months if I want it to be in rio de Janeiro, leblon Beach, Copacabana/Ipanema Beach? What would be the best months for that area?
@tripsterpanda
@tripsterpanda 5 месяцев назад
@@andrearin8383 If you will just stay around Rio, then I prefer May-Jun. Still warm weather, less probability of rain, and lower season (unless some event is in town, but none come to mind now). If you want carnival, and crowded beaches (for that summer vibe), then Dec-Feb (In 2025, Carnival will take place from February 28th to March 8th, so that's when you should plan, if that's the case). Bear in mind that these months are extremely hot, high season ($$$), and heavy shower rains happen frequqently. Aug-Set-Oct are pretty sunny and low season as well, but the ocean will be colder, as you will be coming out of the winter. Partying in Rio happen year around, so that shouldn't be an issue regardless of when you decide to go. So, depending on what you are looking for, either Summer or Autumn in the south hemisphere are good options. I hope you have an amazing trip whichever month you decide to visit!
