Great, but you've got a lift which sheds a lot of time. The majority of people have to use a floor jack and supports, then crawl under, unfasten bolts and covers awkwardly, crawl back out, etc., etc. That slows the process way down. I suppose if I had an unreliable and maintenance prone car like a Maserati, a lift would be a good investment since I'd be under there a lot. I kid, I kid...not really. ;)
@@DIYDanCars That's awesome! I didn't mean to sound like a d*ck. I've had two friends own Maserati's and they've had nothing but problems with them. One is still dealing with their Granturismo and the other got rid of their Quattroporte. Glad to hear yours is going strong. Love the videos!
@@doctajonz2828 No worries! Man, that sucks about your friends! Sorry hear! By chance did they buy the cheapest Granturismo they could find? A lot of people buy these types of cars based on price which is only asking for trouble. I never shop by price (to a point), and instead shop for a 1 owner cars with a great service history. Sadly there are a lot of people who buy these cars and abuse them which creates a nightmare situation for the next owner.
Still really quiet..🤔 I have a set of borla mufflers I plan on putting on my 07 gs350. I'm expecting that the car will sound slightly better than stock but not much and give a few horsepower gains.
So the drain on the drivers side is basically where indicated however a bit lower then it seems in the diagram and close to the engine. It is not viable from the top (you can only reach and tuch it with your hand) of the engine but it is from bellow the engine. I have a rear wheel drive car and maybe with two people I could get to it from above with someone bellow guiding me to the right spot. Anyway I did not drain that side as it's so difficult to reach.
My Lexus dealer quoted me $2,278.00 for the 60K mile service today for my 2015 GS 350. The most pricey part of the service they said was the replacement of the spark plugs ($800-900). WTF! I think I’m done with the dealer.
Holy cow! What did the "60k mile service" all include for $2,278?! Changing the spark plugs on a GS350 is pretty easy and not time consuming at all. Go to an independent garage for the service. It will be 1/4 of that price.
@@DIYDanCarsReplace: Brake fluid cabin air filter, engine oil and filter, rotate tires, spark plugs, measure brake pads and rotors. Inspect: Drive axle boots, drive belts, exhaust system, fuel tank and lines, read diff fluid, suspension ball joints, steering linkage, engine coolant, transmission, rack and pinion assembly. I might have missed a few but that’s pretty much the bulk of it. I’m with you on the independent mechanic. Great videos by the way! Thanks.
Thank you! I got an oil kit and thought I'd change the plugs while I was at it and got really discouraged about that front cylinder. But now I think I can handle that.
Lexus dealer told me they need to let my engine cool for a few hours cause they can’t do a transmission fluid change when it’s hot Do you agree with this? Did you make sure your engine was cold? Thanks for the detailed video!
They wanted 89 thousand dollars to do an oil change on my aircraft carrier, I did it myself to save money and I ended up taking out the wrong drain plug……there was a sinking feeling in my stomach when I realized my mistake.
2015 with 78k miles, nothing has needed replacement other than the usual oil, tires, and brakes. oh, the gas cap a year ago, replaced with a Lexus cap not a cheap chinese knock-off. that's all so far.
Dan I am a huge fan of the videos. Great work. You have saved me so much money over the years! I have a 2015 GS 350k with 107k miles on it - purchased with 30k on it. Had zero issues other than consumable like you. After 2 years of ownership, we loved the car so much we bought another one, a 2018 GS 350 too that only had 12k on it. Over 40k now and so far a similar experience. Plan to own them for as long as possible. A question I have for you is rust proofing the bottom of the vehicle. Do you use anything? How frequently? And do you just spray everywhere? Thanks
Thanks! Happy to help when I can. I did the POR15 treatment on my car and then maintain it with fluid film. I did a video on it. It seems to be slowing the rusting that is happening underneath the car. My only regret is not applying it sooner.
Well there's your problem, you let the car sit for 2 weeks and the battery drained. Very common for exotics to freak out if they detect a loss or surge in voltage. Leave the car on a trickler charge and this won't happened again.
I think you're commenting on the wrong video, either that or you skipped through it. The battery was not "drained" as you stated above. I mention in this video at the 8:30 second mark the battery is fully charged and is also left on a tender. I even performed a battery test during this time proving it was fully charged.
Absolutely, its been a great car so far, but we also didn't buy the cheapest one. We are still loving it and the car has not needed much in terms of service other than regular fluid changes. Good luck in your search!
$200 for this service is very good considering an oil filter from the dealer is now almost $70!!! After the shop pays for the quarts of oil and the oil filter you are probably paying less than $100 in labor. That's good in this high inflation environment, especially if they do a good job.
Bro rode 'em down to slicks...no wonder he got 20k miles out of them...🤣 I run aftermarket wheels with 345's on the rear of my GT and keep a tad bit of negative camber so I only get about 13k miles. I like the way it corners and doesn't wander on the straights but my inside tire wear is premature. You have nice even wear across your tires. 👍
@@randylockard4541 both of mine have been red, but the only other color I’ve seriously thought about buying is that beautiful deep metallic grey. I love that color.
I did my 2014 is 350s water pump a few months ago no leaks. Just had some play in the pulley. Wanted to get ahead of the curve ordered the oem pump on rockauto the aisin one. They updated the design.
Is there any attention to have with the glass position when you put back the motor unit and then test it ? As it won't turn further and break something of will it stop by itself when it's up and also down ? Thanks
The Mark Levinson system is suck and sounds just ok, not worth the hype. Randomly no sound coming out from the speakers. Need to restart the car 2 or 3 times to get the sound back.
@@DIYDanCars I think it’s still original. 😳 But even with those miles car doesn’t leak anything on the garage floor. Just replaced front rotors and pad ordered from bell Lexus. $220 for the front set. Last year replaced rears with rotors and rear shock/ components/ end links. I went with KYB for cost from rock auto. Only real things that have been changed are drive belts, spark plugs, and change of all fluids every 30-50k miles. Plus sunroof seal and drivers door lock. Recently the car has been making a sound in the rear, like a low shutter when accelerating from lower speeds. Get to get that checked out. But transmission still shifts smooth, and rear diff and trans drain and fill was done about 15k miles ago. Still love this car along with other Lexus models we have in family. Have been driving them since 1993 with no problems. Son has 2002 with almost 500k still trucking. Loved having bmw but didn’t like the service. Thanks for the videos on our cars. 🍻
Hey Dan, another great video! I have 2013 GS350 AWD, and the only maintenance I have spent money on are oil change every 3000 miles, brakes, tires, and windshield fluid which I just had to follow your videos. It's now at 130,000 miles but still like brand new. I personally installed sound deadening on the bottom of the whole trunk and 3rd party apple carplay purchased from ebay. The car is dead silent when I am driving and carplay works just fine and feels even better than most recent version of GS lol. Always thanks for the videos.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words. That's great to hear that these cars are holding up and it sounds like your reliability has been very similar to mine. Lets hope the next 100k miles is just as good as the last. :)
Hey Dan. I too have a 2013 GS350 rear wheel drive that I purchased from Carmax in 2016 with 27k. Also like you the only thing I had to do is breaks, tires and fluids. I do wish I had a lift. So fluids like transmission and radiator are performed by a local mechanic. I live for your videos. Please keep them coming. Thanks.
Hello! Thank you! I will do my best to keep the videos flowing, but I think my days of detailed step by step videos have come to an end -- too time consuming. I really appreciate the kind words.
Another very informative video...been a follower for many years, back to my 06 Turbo S Cayenne days, sold it after 10 years of DIY maintenance now drive a 09 Lexus ISF...a lot less headaches and zero dealership visits. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
What else might I need to fix on an AW11's A/C system? I'm looking into buying one: everything checks out on this example, except the A/C system not working. The owner lives in Oregon, so they've just had the A/C lines disconnected and don't know if any of it is operational. Problem is, I live in Arizona, so I need to consider the potential costs of A/C repair before I make an offer. Is this video the extent of the repairs I would need to do to get the A/C running?
It could me a number of things. It might be time for a dealer visit or independent shop. If you maintain the car properly, then it will treat you well. Don't ignore it.
@@DIYDanCars thank you, I just bought it a week ago from the dealer🤷🏻♂️ So I’m doing all the fluids now, it has 75k miles on a 2015. Thanks for the videos, I’m doing it all myself with your help and encouragement.
@@jeremyking3986 Cool! Don't forget to get yourself a good quality scan tool so you can read the codes. Good luck with the servicing! Your car will thank you!
Hello my friend, please I want your help. A sign appeared on checked the four-wheel drive system after changing the differential gear and I did not find a sign like ABS or something similar.
