A friend of a friend of mine had an acquaintance that was possibly a relative who worked at a chocolate factory and was the inspiration for the product in the advertisement as he had actually made a model of a bus out of chocolate on his days off.
So glad I've found this I used to ask my mates if they remember it but none of them did I thought I was going mad I could remember it word for word except the up there bit lol 😂
Wow! My old heart throb, the gutsy little Katie Pukrik? Cool lady. Was fun seeing Charlie before an audience of house wives there! I wasn't sure if they'd all phone h police or not.
Before David Meat started doing his Charlie chuck/uncle Peter character, he'd been on tizwas in 1981 in a Bavarian oompah band called something like the Bavarian stompers. He's a drummer. A story says Burt Bacharach encouraged him to be a drummer. After Hooks Holland invited him to appear on SkyTV he got further appearances on a sky talent show, which lead to A Taste of Reeves and Mortimer, an invite by Paul McCartney to play his birthday party (understandable with Paul being a stoner, and an ivor cutler, and McGonagall fan) which got him onto James Whale radio/TV show, band Glastonbury. He still works as Charlie chuck doing small or large gigs here and there, doing EXACTLY the same material with few changes, and still melts the audience into fits.
TV was great back then, so much creative freedom, now it's so controlled and supervised where nothing spontaneous can ever happen for fear of "upsetting' people
My old flatmate loved this advert, so about fifteen years ago I got in touch with the firm that made it, and they sent me a copy on CD for his birthday! Cracking ad.
Them 90's late nights after the pub watching James whale show or around me mates watching Reeves & Mortimer. Charlie the legend, made us laff many a time, and still does 🤣
When I worked as a Park and Ride driver I once did this at the front of the queue, the looks on some of the passengers faces was brilliant! Best advert ever.
