Sugar is heavily taxed in the UK so manufacturers replace it, reduce it where ever possible (it's also bad for you). Chips/Fries don't know about BK but Mcd's the list of ingredients in North American is like a chemistry experiment with a list of ingredients as long as your arm, UK I think its 4.
You won't get water in motorway services wash rooms. They are required to provide free toilets, so they have to get your money off you somehow. Supermarkets are the same, but their home brand bottled water is cheap enough. It's actually illegal to charge for tap water in cafes & restaurants. If you keep your eyes open a lot of gardens will have outside taps. So if you're cheeky... tell them its for your dog & guilt trip them. 😉 I can't believe our mattresses are any different to elsewhere, top end ones may well be better as we produce all the right goodies yo make 'em, lamb's wool etc. They're likely just worn out, replacing them would put a big dint in their profits & it's unlikely many would return. A mattress topper might help a bit.
Thank you for the tips. Yes, I agree that mattresses here are not likely worse than mattresses in the US. It’s just different when you’re not buying your own mattress I think😄
Ummmmmmm. I LOVE this video!!!!! So many happy things. I love your unicorn. I love the kids walking around and over your shoulder and Melody's smile. I love you people!!! ❤️ 🦄
This is literally a 20 minute drive from where I live! That's why I clicked on your video! I didn't realise you're from the States! You have a new subscriber! I'm afraid the Major Oak has to have the supports holding it up because the branches are so brittle, due to its age, that it would otherwise just fall apart. Also, many years ago, vandals tried to set fire to it so it was badly damaged. It is still growing though despite being at least 800 years old.
Correct, this was in Birmingham! We've really enjoyed Birmingham, but yeah, the litter in Acocks Green specifically was enough to make us get some gloves and clean up a bit.
@@VerrDonMason I go out about once a year and pick up litter in the lane where I live. If we all do a bit, it can make such a difference. Well done for cleaning up your patch !
living in the u.s. and being used to seeing litter everywhere... wasn't expecting england to have the same issue, especially not in a nice residential area. that's unfortunate. good on you guys for making a positive difference
People in the US very frequently have Europe on a pedestal, with a default presumption that they don’t have our cultural problems. This was true for us before spending a lot of time here too. Just like everywhere we’ve been in the US, there is wonderful beautiful stuff, and messier basic human stuff. This is not a bad neighborhood, we loved our stay there. But it was a mess.
Europe is a big mix of actual real people just like the US. There was weirdly a lot more litter in this neighborhood than in many others. We had great interactions here too, though.
Daar -b- shir. Short shir. Water fountains used to be everywhere then there was the whole Aids misinformation issue and authorities didn't want to take responsibility for potential consequences of people's health. Maintenance and upkeep also became a problem in deciding who was responsible for paying for them, the water company or the local authority. At the time the water companies were state owned but had become private companies with shareholders who didn't see why they should pay for public use of water fountains. So now we all pay for bottles water or take it with us from home.
Thanks for the history! We carry water in the US a lot too. Water fountains being present more often doesn’t mean they’re all clean and well maintained for sure.
When I was a kid, water fountains in parks in Sheffield were most definitely 'a thing.' I remember drinking gallons of the stuff on hot days (yes, there were some.) But, to my recollection the design of them precluded their use to fill an empty bottle, they tended to bubble up a bit like a garden water feature. I'm guessing that the demise of public drinking fountains is because they've probably fallen victim to our Health and Safety laws. It's the sort of thing our 'nanny state' would do.
I haven't seen them in Europe at all over the last months. They're still a thing in the US, though some of them make me sympathetic to the officials that ordered them removed.
That bottled water you are buying comes from the same tap water. Our cold water systems and hot water systems are separate so the cold is perfectly drinkable. If it's warm something is very wrong. Normally you run any cold tap for a minute or two and it will be cold even on hot days.
@@cragzuk I guess coming from NZ in Chch we were lucky to have water filtered through our mountains. It’s all changed though due to flooding and earthquake we had.
I was really surprised how much it was the same. The layout was the same. There were a lot more products that were the same than I expected - snacks and granola bars, housewares, even the big tent they sell in the summer. Haha. Not all the same but yeah, way closer to the US version than I had anticipated.
I really enjoyed the sunrise and sunset plus the cooking and your chatting about daily life. But i didn't subscribe as I'm not into family channels that show their kids, there's a big backlash and conversation about child exploitation and the fact that they really can't consent. Plus there are a lot if weirdos out there! Please stay safe.
Yes, thank you! I know it's a tricky thing. We're just trying to show love and family in a real, authentic way. I'm so glad you enjoyed it and thank you for reaching out!
How long are you there? Look into buying/registering a car - might be easier. We bought in UK and it wasn't too hard, then sold when we left. We bought a crappy car for less than renting for a week
Welcome to Ireland Just came across your video on my feed We live in Galway ........I highly recommend a visit And if you find yourself in the village of Claregalway hit us up🎉🎉
Thank you - that’s so cool!! Yeah we’re about an hour from Galway. That would be awesome to connect! Let me see if I can figure out how to private message on RU-vid and we can try to set something up 🤞
Do you remember which lamb is fed? I tried it and ended up feeding one very smart fellow twice and one was left starving and wouldn’t leave till I got an extra bottle and fed him. Feeding time is so hard
Yes! It was so crazy but there were actually multiple adults helping so afterwards we counted and there were two that got only part of a bottle because we were short a bottle but everyone else got the whole thing. The one I held was only a week old so the owner wanted to be sure it got the full bottle. They were fed multiple times a day though so i think it all works out. That’s so cool that you got to do that too!
Good video! It's interesting that the fries are in reusable containers like that... What happens if you order takeaway? 😂I'm assuming you'd just get the usual paper containers right? 🤔🤔Anyways, I hope you enjoyed your McDonalds in France.
