i am forever in denial about the ending, this edit is amazing, i am now off to rewatch himym for the seventh time (excluding that alleged series finale cause that's just badly written fanfic)
AMAZING! I really want to see a Gossip Girl edit for “Super Rich Kids.” They played it once in the show, and it is so perfect for the Non-Judging Breakfast Club, but I’ve never seen an edit for it!
"Of all the people to see me like this, it had to be you." "Well, you know, it's a new year. Who knows? You and I might even become friends." "Pacey, I'm upset enough as it is." "Come here, Potter." -Joey Potter and Pacey Witter "What? So I count on you and tell you secrets." "And call me in the middle of the night to pick you up. Why?" "I'm sorry that I called. I thought I could..." "I'm not mad that you called. I just want to know why you called me." "You were the first person that I thought of, Pacey." "What does that mean, Jo?" "It means that I can talk to you and that you're there for me." -Joey Potter and Pacey Witter Joey was Dawson's rock. She was there for him whenever he needed someone to talk to. She was there even in the moments that being his rock broke her own heart. But it didn't go both ways. Dawson cared about Joey, but he also saw everything from a self-centered viewpoint. Other people's feelings don't matter as much to Dawson as his own feelings. And that's where Pacey bested him. Even long before their relationship turned from love/hate to romance, Pacey was Joey's rock. He teased her, sure, but when she needed answers or needed a reality check, he was right there, always. "Dawson knows my past. My future lies with you, Pace."
Seth and Summer: They're both competitive. They constantly try to out-do each other. Take their engagement for example. Neither of them are ready for it but they don't want to call it off, so they come up with a game to try to get the other one to chicken out. They're both self-centered. Seth lies or omits pieces of the truth to avoid dealing with it. It's also a way to avoid dealing with the consequences of his actions. Summer (in season 1) seems obsessed with her public image, even going as far as ignoring Seth after they start dating because dating a nerd would jeopardize her image. In season 2, she leaves the decision of prom up to Zach and Seth so she isn't forced into making a choice. But after season 2, they become surprisingly stable. They still have their fair share of problems, but nothing I felt they couldn't get through. Seth was a person who primarily thought about himself. He left Newport on a boat without a word of goodbye to Summer or a thought about the abandonment she felt. He lied to both her and Anna about his feelings for them, breaking both of their hearts. But in season 3 and 4, Seth has changed. He lies to Summer about getting into Brown initially because he's embarrassed she got in and he didn't, but soon it evolves into a lie because she refuses to go without him and he can't let her do that. He tells Summer to take the job at GEORGE because it's good for her. It's something she needs to do. He encourages her because he loves her that much, even though that means they'll be apart for a while. The Summer of season 1 is an unbearably shallow person, destined to grow up to be yet another Julie Cooper or Veronica Townsend. Thanks to Seth's influence on her, Summer evolves into someone infinitely deeper than the plastics she would've become. So much so that she can't stand her "noopsie" friend Holly or the crowd she used to feel so comfortable in. She ends up becoming an environmental activist thanks to her relationship with Seth teaching her to think beyond herself. Ryan coming to Newport got the ball rolling, but the rest was all them. They forced each other to be better people. Ultimately, they're happier people because of their influence on each other.
oth got picked up because the show actually feels like a SHOW. it has boring moments for sure but watching this video makes me realize the oc is more a caricature than a well-grounded show. thats why it could never go beyond high school years, the newport bubble is so so strong and annoying. even dawsons creek made it out. and stuff that happened within characters are never explored fully for them to flesh out later on, which theyre supposed to i mean theyre characters for a reason.
you're of course allowed to your opinion, but you do realize this is 4-minute video of a show that had 90+ episodes and most of the things said in it you don't even realize what they mean as a casual viewer if you are not in on the inside jokes? there is nothing wrong with shows that feel like shows and follow the same patterns, but there is also nothing wrong with being different and more inventive and have inside jokes and not taking yourself too seriously, I think it depends on everyone's taste 🤷 and OTH might have way more seasons, but let's be honest, only hardcore fans stuck to it and even the main actors left before the show was finished... sometimes it is quality >>>> quantity (also, most of these inside jokes in this video are from S1 and S2, which are to this day highly reviewed seasons and getting praise even 18 years later...)
@@NELLISZ1 wasnt an insut lmao i love this show like the main ships are my favs but its undeniable that the writing is a MESS. and thats the main reason why it was cancelled. im not a big fan of oth too but i can tell from writing wise theyre still better. the only main actors who left are lucas and peyton and their characters arent even good. and sometimes its NEEDED to explore those characters esp marissa, THEY wrote her traumatic stuff, and that definitely deserved to be explored better. even seth literally died after season 2 his character was just there. and obviously the viewers agree about the messy writing cause of season 3 you cant expect to have a full on season and write that shitty. but dawsons creek is really the good comparison to this show tbh, they have some repetitive stuff, but it balances out.
no ur so right. i only watched till s7 but from what i saw, the oth always kept the soul beneath the drama-- lucas's girl drama is rooted in his abandonment issues, peyton's revolving love interests r her 'everybody leaves,' nathan and haley's marriage was so well developed, etc etc. the oc really lost the soul behind the drama. in s1, it made sm sense. ryan has his anger issues bc hes an abuse victim, marissa's guy issues r a symptom of her mental health issues, seth's insecurity drives the summer/anna love triangle. but s2-s4? its just drama to be drama. ryan punches people to punch people, and they'll make a funny haha joke about ryan punching people, but never really dwell on it like they did in season 1.
I watched both oth and the OC and I love both shows. But between the 2 I find the oc more boring for some reason, maybe because there’s less characters? They are both still great shows
