Thank you for stopping by Rocklin Graves. Keep an eye out for videos on Mondays and Fridays every week,
You outdid yourself with this one man! T2 is also one of my favorites and I love that the deeper narrative gets you the same way it gets me! There is something so instantly iconic about Art and Sienna. Amazing video!
I think I was so impressed with the 1st movie because I hadn't seen any of the shorts & didn't know what to expect. Something about it just pleased me, especially Art's humor. The bag of weapons= 😅
I finally figured out why I like your videos so much. You're so passionate about the movies you like and you talk about them like it's just you and me having a drink and shooting the shit about it but you have so much info to share, and you share it with joy and not in a "I am a fill-um connoisseur... you are a plebe..." way. I think we all want to come to Canada and watch Nosferatu with you.
Was very happy to see you make a longer video on this. I highly recommend Gracie Fitzpeter’s 5 hour long video on the Terrifier franchise if you get the time
Absolutely on the same boat as you. This movie is what got me into the franchise. I occasionally saw GIFS and random photos of Art on Discord. I didn’t really think much of it. I thought he was just some killer clown like Stiches, but this franchise has really come far. The main reason why I like horror is I LOVE seeing good triumph over evil. Especially as a Christian. I know not all horror movies are like that, but you get the idea. Some people don’t care for the character of Sienna at all and only care for Art, but really…what would be the point of all of this without Sienna? Evil cannot exist without good. There needs to be a balance. Sienna is by far my favorite character in the franchise. She is the reason why I am here for these movies. That’s why the 1st Terrifier is lackluster in my opinion. It’s just a showcase of Art and nothing else. There is no hope. It’s not interesting in that sense. Even in Hallow’s Eve; there isn’t anybody that can stop this dude, but that’s not the case with this film. There is a final girl to root for, and that is my favorite thing about this film. As you stated, the gore is part of what attracts audiences to these films, but the story is what really sells it ultimately. Really appreciated you making this video…40 minutes is such a treat. Looking forward to the third film!
man I love the art flower glasses scene. but also I'm the kind of person from the kind of family that has a 19 year old sister that get a tattoo machine for Christmas eave from o0ur parents and then procedes to let my little sister give me an art the clown tattoo in the kitchen.... on Christmas eve...... during a Christmas family get together XD
Huh. I actually assumed the murdered little girls name being Emily Crane was a slight nod to her actress, Amelie McLain, but her being the Cat Lady's daughter is a SUPER interesting theory. Anyways great video!! I connected extremely hard to Terrifier 2, and even the first time I watched it I was amazed how much complexity there was to the story. Im always kind of sad when people complain about the supernatural stuff and say the clown cafe was dumb and pointless, and that brief moment of time where it was being reported Damien Leone was listening to the criticism and getting rid of the supernatural stuff in Terrifier 3 kind of broke my heart a little. But there's Brooke's ghost or whatever is in the trailer so that's obviously not the case. Super super excited for whats coming next!!
I'm assuming you misheard the part where I was talking about a sequence "he's had in mind for Sienna since 2008". It's a scene he planned for a character and has nothing to do with what you're implying
I can’t watch these movies, the brutal suffering and gore is just too much for me (even slight gore is too much for me, lol, I’m a pussy), but I LOVE the subtext and perspective you gave me of the second one with this video!! The cool stuff about Sienna being healed and Art being resurrected is exactly that - so cool!!! Super intriguing, and I’ve ~never~ heard anyone talk about that, so thank you!!
You’d think I’d get tired of hearing Rocklin Graves talk about Terrifier/Terrifier2. You would be wrong. Love hearing your thoughts on this my dude! Ha
i was so sad learning the next movie wasnt gonna be as fun because it felt like the terrifier fans that dont understand camp complained the loudest and forced a dimming of the story
Finally someone did a video about this film that actually seems to enjoy it. Most of the videos I've seen talk about it being really ham fisted and ridiculous (not in a good way). As someone who enjoys the concept and adores the shenanigans of Art but has a lot of trouble with gorefest shlock, I doubt I will ever directly see these films. So I live vicariously through RU-vidrs like you and it always felt like people were giving the series a raw deal and seeming to miss a lot of the symbolism within the narrative. It's great to see someone who not only enjoys it but seems to genuinely comprehend and enjoy the storytelling through symbolism that it's got going on. Thank you for this! Fantastic video!
I am exactly the same about blood and gore. I can watch just about anything fictional (save for eye stuff 😬) but I’ll feel queasy even if I get a little cut on my finger lol Edit: 14:03 Thanks for saying this, a lot of people have latched onto Sienna because she’s badass-which yeah, she is!-but what makes her special to me is her bond with her little brother and her protectiveness of him. My brother and I have a similar relationship as he’s 15+ years my junior and let’s just say I’m much more of a mother to him than our real one lol. I’d love to be her for Halloween this year but I’m well past the age to be able to pull that outfit off 😅 Edit again: I’m surprised you didn’t mention Art’s treatment of that boyfriend and his uh…bits. That bedroom scene really did overshadow everything 😂
“Her father doesn’t represent anything specific-“ Her father is an exaggerated visual representation of how trapped Pearl feels, both by her family (he can’t be left alone, he can’t care for himself, someone needs to and without her mother that someone has to be Pearl,) and physically in her nothing town & isolated home (she might not be trapped in a wheelchair, but she feels just as trapped in that farmhouse.)
My only issue with the movie was the whole last hour about is just a long ahhh drag of a watch and so much nuance. Portraying some larger “lore” or more details. Only to drag and feel all for naught. Mind you I don’t want more details and backstory. The more I know the less scary it all is. Sometimes things just are. we don’t need some junior in film school explanation of this story
Your favorite part “the divine arc” is my least favorite part by far. Just wants to be more than it is. And falls so flat on developing literally anything on it. It’s obscenely pretentious
Even after rewatching with an open mind about the points you brought up, its still a average movie. There are great ways the show the viewer whats going on without holding their hand and this movie failed at executing this in alot of the scenes.
I disagree that Art is the most iconic horror villain since Ghostface in 96.' You can't forget about Tobin Bell's John Kramer/Jigsaw, but since him you could say Art is the most iconic. 💯
i found your channel a little bit ago and i genuinely love your content so much and am always so excited to see a new upload!! i love how genuine your reviews are and i love that i can always feel the passion that goes into them!! keep up the good work! ^_^
