Ray lost Scott Burton in 1975, and then lost Cliff in 1986. He lost both of his own kids when they were both very young. Despite all that, he lived to be 94 years old, and stuck around to support Cliff's legacy and support Metallica, which is a band that played music Ray didn't listen to when he was young. (since it didn't exist yet) He has a strong heart and didn't let him stop enjoy life despite those setbacks. May he Rest In Peace, and may the Burton family rock on together in heaven.
So what we're saying here is, the show _Barney Miller_ had a big impact on the developmental history of Metallica. How completely out of left field is that?
Just came across this video. Father Ray seemed like a gentle humble man and very supportive of not only his son, but also of his son's band even without Cliff, as well as Cliff's fellow musician friends. As being influenced by Cliff Burton myself, I was awful upset at the time of his death, even breaking up with a girlfriend at the time for not understanding my grievance.
I don't think I or many other people could lose not one but 2 children under 25yo and barely a decade apart from eachother but still have such a sunny disposition. RIP to them all and Ray was a real gem of a human being.
Cliff's sister Connie is the only one left, she outlived her entire immediate family. That is so sad omg I'm the only girl of 3 kids and can't imagine losing my brothers so young. And my dad's gone but I'm so grateful to still have my mama. Cliff, Scott, and their parents are hopefully at peace and I feel the most sad for Connie. She is definitely a strong person like her parents and I don't think that many people could go through what this family had to endure yet still keep their faith like Ray and Connie.
"Yeah we're a buncha queers!" lmfao! For any confused people under a certain age here's some context.. back in those days it was still rebellious for men to have long hair and they were often called gay or feminine, in so many words that were much more crass. The tattoos likely didn't help since those were also still somewhat taboo. My dad had long hair as a teen/young adult in the 70s and told us plenty of stories about "getting hassled by cops and squares" lol. Back then, long unkempt hair was called a "freak flag" particularly on men
Strange that Connie didn't make this announcement. Were Connie and Ray estranged?? I hope not. Ray, Scott, Jan and Ray are together again in paradise. WE LOVE YOU RAY AND CLIFF!!!
the old audio cassette tapes, makes ppl sound so different, cliff didn't do many interviews, although he did one on Sept 26th before his final show..he was killed the next morning. I have an 18 minute interview with him from June 86 I believe with Harold oimen. it's a funny interview
R.I.P. Clifford Lee Burton! And Ray Together Again! I remember when I saw Cliff and Metallica! On the Puppets tour! With Ozzy! Before he passed! I wore bell bottoms too! What a Bad Ass Bass player!
