Long time wargamer and commission figure painter. Painting tutorials and updates on what I'm currently painting! Blog of 13 years here: napoleonictherapy.blogspot.com/
Thanks Martin. Keeping everything nice and bright for this project :) So many packs in the range I'm sure this will expand and the French beckon :) Lee.
Hi Lee, lovely project, I’m hoping that at some point we see an Epic AWI. A few weeks ago I picked up red and yellow dropper paints by Army Painter from their new Fanatic range, which are more pigmented and so far the reds are giving very good one coat coverage, I gone mine From Warlord Games. I have not tried the yellow yet. Anyway good to see you still doing stuff for yourself. Vids are fine as they are 🙂
Your Peter Pig AWI troops are looking nice so far Lee 👏👏 And the Native Americans* with black first coat & brown on-top looks great. Ps/ * or should we now call them First Nation people?
Thanks Geoff. That basic black over brown horse colour can be built up even to light grey/roan's, it's just the prefect base! As to the 'Indians' I had a chat on the phone with Mark who commissioned the project and we both agreed that 'Indians' was fine, probably because we both grew up with John Ford Westerns :) You have to be careful these days though don't you :) I also grew up with the Carry On films so can never forget Charles Hawtrey playing Chief Big Heap in Carry on Cowboy!
@@legrambo - Carry On films were a staple of my youth (and are still regularly repeated on TV even nowadays). Plenty of double entendres wherever you look 😉
Very good of converting Epic regular line to the Wisconsin Iron Bde units. I was lucky enough to get the Warlord metal figures when they first came out. I would have rather had them in plastic to tell the truth. My Iron Bde is made up of the 3 metal Rgts, 2nd, 6th and 7th, and two of the Epic plastic line sprues for the 19th Indiana and 24th Michigan. Both the 19th and 24th wore kepis by the time of Gettysburg and did not wear the long frock coats, so it all worked out for me. Keep up the good work, have fun, and be well.
Thank you. Mark is having terrain specially made for the battle and will indeed be recording the game. One of the cavalry troops features the names of Mark and his wargaming friends on the bottom labels as a bit of fun and I believe that he has awarded himself the VC medal and of course is the Troop commander :) Cheers, Lee.
Thank you. I had seen the BH 3D figures and the images looked superb so I placed a test order printed to 13.5mm but two and a half weeks later they have failed to show up! I have contacted them re this situation. What's frustrating is that they mentioned shipping issues but I'm only 30 miles away from where they are based :) We shall see. Cheers, Lee.
@@legrambo I heard that there was shipping issues. I was going to place an order with them until I saw the shipping cost to New Zealand. It's a pity that they don't sell the STL files so I can get figures printed here.
@@stephenmarsh8821 So much of their feedback mentions shipping issues and delays which is a pity. I have just contacted them again to see if they can give me a rough reliable delivery date before I cancel.
Lee, I see the piece of cornfield strategically placed in the far left. Coincidence? I think not. Jokes aside, great looking Iron brigade and conversion!
Well spotted, you know that I can't resist a bit of plastic cornfield :) I had intended to mention the product again but could not find the box! Thank you for commenting. Cheers, Lee.
They look really good did you say project nearly done is there such a thing with us wargammers theres always one more unit you just have to add well there is for me anyway
Hi, I replaced the cavalry with 12mm figures from Kallistra (link below for you). I just did not like the Epic cavalry! Purely personal choice. I will also use them for the dismounted cavalry etc. Cheers, Lee. www.kallistra.co.uk/?page=16
Awesome work! Funnily enough the same painting method and paint range as i use. Really effective and very striking in smaller scales (as your minis definitely show)
@@legrambo Honestly the best method for those small scales imo. looks vers striking on the tabletop. way better than using contrast paints and quicker as well
Many thanks. I have been more obsessed than is healthy for a grown man with model cornfields recently :) This is a great product and makes the job easy: www.modelscenerysupplies.co.uk/maze-or-sweetcorn-field?search=sweet%20corn Cheers, Lee.
Thank you :) I use Vallejo Earth Texture for my basic 'brown' straight from the pot then use Javis superfine grass flock (rather than static grass) through out for this project. Cornfield link is : www.modelscenerysupplies.co.uk/maze-or-sweetcorn-field?search=sweet%20corn Cheers, Lee.
I have mixed Epic, Peter Pig, and Steel Fist cavalry together and they look pretty good (except that the Epic cavalry figures are noticeably poorer quality than the others). But infantry don’t work - Epic foot is too small and squished together to work with the others (in my opinion).
