I play guitar on songs. You've heard my playing on multiple country radio #1 hits, and my recording credits include Cody Johnson, Chris Janson, Luke Bryan, Sam Hunt, Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Jimmie Allen, Matt Stell, David Lee Murphy, Josh Groban, Hillsong United, NewSong, Steven Tyler, HARDY, Chase Rice, Kassi Ashton, Mandisa, Shannon LaBrie, and many others.
The point of this channel is to help guitar players be better musicians. If you want to be the kind of guitar player other musicians want to start a band with or book on their gig/tour/record, this is the place for you.
Those cases remind me of Carvin/Kiesel guitar cases I've had before. Don't know who manufactures them for their guitars or if they do a double case. Cheers, Justin
I find a sturdy protective gig bag is essential. I never take a hard case to a gig anymore if I can help it. I can recommend the Gator Pro transport line of gig bags. Very similar to the Endcase (?) bags Justin describes. No affiliation with Gator. I just started using them a few years back and I like them.
I have an Encase double electric bag. Ask the Encase folks what happened when Fender tried to get involved with them lol. That’s also a part of why they stopped the cases. Their first year at NAMM, everyone wanted their stuff!
I unfortunately was too late for the incase cases. I found a company that is called protec, they are pretty good and i love my protec guitar bag. Have been throwing it under the plane a couple of times and have used it every day for 6 years now. Great alternative in my opinion
I still have my Incase from the early 00's. It's beat and worn, and I lost the laptop bag (that slid in the "charts" pocket) a long time ago, but it's still a solid case. Nowadays, Reunion is a pretty comparable one, imho.
Hey Justin. I have an “Access” brand case that is very similar to what you have. I bought this one for my jazz box and archtop because of the “hard” sides. Mine is very well made and nicely padded, really strong handles and sturdy zippers. I think I paid about 200 bucks formir several years ago from a local shop. E
Great review Justin! Any thoughts on what you would buy now that's currently produced? I have a MONO Vertigo for my bass. I think it's "OK", but have the same reservations as you. It's also heavy and $$$.
@@JustinOstrander Thanks! That looks like a great case. I live that they have a zippered cover that encloses the backpack straps. I don't always use those, and then they catch on things. The bulky thing is what bothers me as well. The Mono Steve rules on that count, but no protection...
You gotta check out Avatar speakers! I have tried several from them and they have allbeen awesome. AV75 especially is a wicked speaker!! I ended up swapping out my WGS speakers with the AV75s. No regrets.
What's your take on the difference in sound between open, closed, or ported cabs? Would the application depend primarily on genre of music, or just personal preference?
Love your channel, Justin. Two tech tips suggestions: (1) use a 1/2" hex nut driver to loosen or tighten hex nuts on Switchcraft 1/4" phone jacks. It won't ding up the hex nuts like needle nose pliers can. (2) Remove all old solder and flux from a terminal, using a vacuum pump or desoldering braid, before making a new connection using new solder.
$69 Good price. Yeah change a speaker out and then you can change all those pedals out and see which ones work with it. Whole day gone. Agree I need to swap things around to get some new inspiration.
"You get so sick of your own sounds, even if they're great"... Oh man I relate to this on a damn near molecular level!! I'm mostly an acoustic player, but find myself putting away my BEST sounding guitars for a spell (which I KNOW sound amazing) because I get bored of the sound!! I'll transition to playing something out of left field and completely different for a while (right now it's an inexpensive 90s Japanese nylon string) because the "new" sound inspires me to play different things. But it's always so great to inevitably come back to those other amazing guitars that have been sitting in their cases for a few months, right? Sorta like you coming back to the original speaker in your cab, I suppose! You should get one of those baby video monitors for your cabinet, so you'll always be able to gaze lovingly at it's aesthetic artistry and good looks from your studio hahaha!!! I recently discovered your channel, and this is my first time commenting, but I've slowly been going thru your back catalog of incredible videos... Thanks for all that you do, J.O.!!!!!
