Welcome to our reef aquarium RU-vid channel. Follow our reefing journey to a mature mixed reef aquarium. Let's start with a Red Sea MAX NANO. Absolute beginners! How hard can it be, let's find out!
Haha 😂...I have to keep trimming them otherwise they would just kill every other coral in the tank. I do love torches, definitely in my top 1 for corals. Thank you for taking the time to watch 🙂
Gonis are such a beautiful coral with the colour combinations and movement. You have a nice goni in your tank. Thanks for the commenting and your support of the channel 🙂
This is my least watched video, but definitely one of my favourites to make. Rook pooling with the family is just the best free fun ever. We love it. Not ideal for me living in Derby 😂😂
What do you keep your phos and nitrates at? I never used to care until i started over feeding frozen, it solved my algea (dinos) problems but now they getting pretty high
My tank is LPS dominat so it likes nutrients for coral colouration. Phosphates I like to keep between 0.03ppm and 0.10ppm. Nitrates are between 5 to 10ppm. Weekly water change keeps these in the range for me. Hope that helps mate 👍
Thank you mate 🙂. Yeah the torches are a challenge with coral warfare. I tend to trim mine and sell the heads creating a little bit of pocket money. Have a great weekend.
@@Coral-reef. Hope you are all good. I run a Radion XR 15 Gen 5 on the LPS template at 55% intensity. I also run the ReefBrites for 3 hours in the evening on blues for some extra coral pop. Hope that helps 🙂
Such a fantastic show, we've been spoilt with reefing events in the UK this year. Fingers crossed for 2025 🙏. Thank you so much for watching and commenting. 🙂
😂😂 everyday is a learning day. I use the Nitrate Salifert test now, so much better. I've also learnt that as long as nitrates are less than 20ppm I don't need to worry. This minute digital analysis of nitrates is not needed for a nano reef tank. What do you use to rest nitrates? 🙂
I agree mate. These nano tank are notorious for having parameter swings, but the doser has kept my tank far more stable. Thanks for the watch and comment 🙂
Tony 🙌. Thought you would be first in the queue 😂. It was a fantastic show mate, you would have loved the coral stands. Thanks for watching mate, means a lot. 🙂
Haha...😂😂 I believe they sold about 2700 tickets in total and 2500 must have been RU-vidrs 😂😂. Lots of people now have social media which is a brilliant way to document your tanks journey over time. I encourage anyone to do that. It's brilliant to look back on. Thank you for dropping by to watch 🙂. Take care
All of these extras aren't necessary. That red sea setup has everything you need to run a successful reef setup. I've seen other's do way more with far less. Ppl just need to keep things simplified and enjoy the reef hobby.
I somewhat agree, the Radion light is a luxury upgrade and the Reef Led 50 is a good light, also I could have gone for cheaper test kits such as the Salifert, they work just as well. The rest I would stand-by. The stock ATO is too small and the dosing pump has kept the parameters stable on this nano for 4 years. Red Sea all in ones are a brilliant tank and I would also buy these bits of kit second hand which can save a lot of money too. I've enjoyed the hobby so much with this setup, but I would advise anyone to make their own decisions when starting out. I wouldn't change what I bought, but also don't just follow a RU-vidr. Thank you for watching and commenting 🙂
What an event mate. 🙌 Always great to catch up with a fellow Yorkshire reefer. Order was soon restored after a brew. Nothing better than a cup of tea, chocolate digestive and sitting and watching your coral reef. See you very soon 🙂👍
@@islandreef5292 wow...amazing to think someone watches this from Canada 🇨🇦. Thanks mate. Just need Fragbox here next year. Hope the reef tank is going well? 👍
@@SaltySwagger_ You have such a lovely family great to meet you all. 🙂 Thank you so much for my T Shirt, I wear it loads on the Livestreams. Take care and catch up at a future event.
@@jaysrealreefuk all the sellers were saying it was less busy than Saturday but still loads of coral left, I really enjoyed it. And yep they were selling things off cheaper at the end of the day. Ryan was asking people how much they wanted the coral to cost and negotiating from there 😂
Brilliant mate well done on making a great video for everyone to see , sorry about the coral glad you seen the funny side I’ll sort u out when it’s fragable big yourself up and pat yourself on the back well done 👌💪✌️👌💪
@@LeicesterReeferUK-g1v The guy who robbed my ultra torch coral 😂😂😂 My head fell off after that mate. You got a cracker there. Would love a piece when you get a chance to drag it. I'm torturing myself by looking at it on your insta. Such a bargain for £150, Ryan definitely priced that wrong 😂😂. Cheers for watching mate, we had a good laugh at the show. See yer next year hopefully 👍
Great choice..I do love Red Sea products as you know. The all in ones are so easy that even beginners like me can have a healthy reef. Great to see you at the show buddy. Did you pick up some nice bits? Thanks for watching 🙂
Think for the same reason your drawn to Red Sea nanos is probably the reason i am too. Hopefully i'll see you there next year too, i was only there for a recon mission this time so didnt pick anything up though if the G2 XL had been on offer id of ordered one!
@@harrywest5447 yeah, the G2 XL is a fantastic choice. Will last you a good few years. Bad news is, I've never known Red Sea to do a deal or special offers 😬😂. Keep me posted mate 🙂👍
@@jaysrealreefuk its bigger than i thought when i saw it in person too, thinking of a nem tank with a few special corals. hopefully catch you on the live stream friday
Looks like you had a great day Jay & looked like some lovely bits available, madness the torch hype is still in full swing though, catch up Friday , have a good beginning of the week mate 👍🏻
I thought prices for dropping aswell mate, but so many torches at the show between £250 and An eye watering £800 😭. There the ones I wanted for £150 😂😂. I loved the show and hopefully I can make it back in 2025. See you Friday. Thanks for the watch and comment 🙂
Amazing video Jay! Really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this. Thank you. Really nice of you to give people shout outs like that especially Reefy AF with Lee! What a legend!
Reefy AF.....I love the livestream/ podcast. The honesty and frank speaking is so refreshing. Massive fan. I have a big soft spot for Lee, best dry sense of humour in the hobby 🙌. Thanks for the watch mate. Keep in touch 👍
Vision Aquatics had some amazing corals, probably the best at the show... sorry Ryan (Prestige Reef), close second. Was a great day though and i really hope they run it again next year.
@@glowwurm9365 I agree mate. There coral collection was exceptional 🙌✨. I wanted 3 pieces from there, but didn't have the budget. They were very special. We were all spoilt for coral. Did you buy anything? Thank you for watching and commenting. 👍
@@jaysrealreefuk Seems I had an eye for spotting the most expensive pieces (there was a £500 orange and green torch I fell in love with). I picked up a blue/green grafted frogspawn which is never seen before. And a torch, blue tipped (I forget the name may reach out to the vendor), wasn’t cheap, it blew my budget. But in all honesty they were unique pieces I’m unlikely to find regularly and it’s my birthday next week. So a little present from me to me…
Thank you. I absolutely love this hobby, and hopefully more beginners come in and join us. Owning a reef tank is special. We had such a great time. Thanks for the watch and comment. 👍
@@jaysrealreefuk the freshwater hobby has had shows and auctions going back to the late 80's when i was heavily involved with the british cichlid assoc. Having many like minded people at events makes for a great day. I hope as the organiser said on your video this is the first of many.
@@martincsreefandkoi yeah, I hope so mate. I would love to see the freshwater and reptiles sections grow in 2025. I didn't really cover this in my video as my YT audience is marine. Are you still freshwater, marine or both?
Mate, miss you so so much ❤️. It was an amazing show, you would have loved it, but the only thing to make it better would have been you and Ross 🙌. Oh....and cheaper torch corals and tea 😂. Hope the family are all good and see you on a Friday soon 🙂.
It makes me so happy that people give you the time to watch, because life is hectic. Great to meet you at the show. Did you pick up some nice bits? Thanks for being an OG follower mate. 🙂
Thank you team AAC 🙌. I would love a UK rock pool shallow reef, but don't think it helps living in Derby 😂. They are so beautiful. Excited for the final event of the year Coral Freaks in October. Got my ticket 👍🙂
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to cover it for us. Shame you just missed out on that Ultra Green. Did you manage to pick up something similar?
@@discol76 haha...after loosing out on the ultra green torch my head feels off with biting corals 😂😂 I loved and it was only £150 💚. Such a great event. Thank you for watching and the comment 🙂
@@theeastcoastreefer Great to meet you too, keep up the great work on your channel. I don't do much editing so you were always going to be in the video. Congrats on winning the stickers 😂😂. Get down to Coral Freaks in October to end the year. Also, you picked up some nice pieces through that frag swap. They look great on your frag rack. Thanks for watching and commenting 🙂
Have to agree the 7 ft tank is stunning but the sump was a bit underwhelming to be honest, could have had another chamber at least. 😂 Great meeting you, however briefly. Cheers Jay! 🏴❤
The DD guys were saying it wasn’t the normal sump as they needed to be able the tank the sump out easy to move it so the put a smaller one is just for looks 😁
DD tanks are so nice 🔥. 😂😂 That sump. Apparently, it was the wrong sumo for the 7ft tank. It was tiny 😂. Great to meet you mate. Did you pickup anything nice? Thanks for the watch.
Hey Jay were you there on Sunday? Was hoping to meet you but must of missed you. I don't know if it's just me but the video still jitters a little. On my phone and TV
I was only there on the Saturday mate. How was it today? Did you get anything nice? I'm off to Coral Freaks through AAC in October, are you going there? Sorry about the jitters, not sure what causes that. 😬
@@ReefDork What a show! You did a brilliant job making it happen through the livestreams. It's fantastic for the hobby. Thanks for having the time for a quick interview for the channel - means alot. I know how busy you were 😂. Think you should have another holiday in France for a rest. Will see you in the chat on next Sunday's livestream. Also, so glad you talked Ryan into having a stand. Ryan and his team smashed it. Take care mate 🙂
@@AdamChallinor great to meet a fellow nano reef lover 🙌. Fantastic tanks and you can still have beautiful corals. Hope you didn't spend up? 😂 Look forward to next year.
