Boring roads, Balaton, Bites and worst of all no Bisto! Still really enjoyed the video though as it shows the reality of doing an extended road trip. Thanks for sharing. Cheers.
Ex mil corinthia sleeping bags are great, or buy a mil sleep system of two bags, one for summer and then add it to the second bag for winter, you could even sleep on one with the other acting as a duvet.
When i was a litle boy camping was good on texel you go there by ferry from denhelder there is the navy base of the Netherlands I,m now 2 meter tall buy a bigger tent good luck
Go to denhaag there is the biggest street market of the Netherlands Monday wensday vryday and Saturday opens 9:00 closes 17:00 have a good time in den haag I,m from Amsterdam Amsterdam markets are albertcuypmark is voor toerist whe locals go to the dappermarkt
next to my zumo xt (witch is sensitive to its setting...... to go strange regulary) ill use the Sigic app on my phone (the sister software of a tomtom unit) as a fail safe or as 2e offline navigation just my 2cents.....
Its a good plan, But in fairness we shouldnt have to plan for a fail safe, a product either works well or it doesnt, we gave up on the garmin, it turned into a liability for us
Hi fella. Google maps failed me in the middle of Italy, poor signal plus the routing was at times unusable. I've switched to DMD2 and switch between that, Outdooractive and Calimoto. I highly recommend the DMD2 smartphone, fits perfectly in line of sight above the AT's main display.
@@ontheroadadventure Nomad Sweden do great tutorials on youtube, well worth a look. If you want to see my setup I should have it running tyre pressures assuming eBay comes good on my tpms valves.
Hi we use the Cardos, they have been very good and we use them allot! We had senas before that let us down all the time in the rain, we dont recommend them
Curious to know where a device like this sits with regards to the law as it’s illegal to operate a mobile phone while on the bike and this is purely an extension of that. That’s lit the blue touch paper, now I’ll stand back and await any comments😉👍😂
Hey you two nice to see you out and about again . Not good when the tent is small though this was what we experienced few weeks ago with the bikes . The tent had only been used twice and it leaked . We had to ditch it in a bin . At least the bikes were lighter 😂😂 Eva looked really cosy in her sleeping bag despite the cold weather drop . 😊
Smaller tent you say…why? I use a 5-man Campmaster all-weather tent just for me! It is 1.85m high, tons of space for helmet, jacket and riding suit, soft panniers, bags etc and cooking gear. It’s actually way too big for 1 person but why camp in a small tent just to save a couple of kgs…Personally, I’d rather have the space. Thanks for the review Rich and Ewa, I was thinking of buying a tunnel shape tent, but nah! Ride safe, love you, bye! 😉🏍️🍺🇿🇦
Well it’s a 7 inch display so it can be seen much easier, for me I don’t like my phone on the bars, not just to protect the iPhones camera from vibration but also from grab phone thefts and of course damage should you have an accident.
...I bought an 8 sided dice once, for random touring.....In the morning, throw it and the number relates to direction. 1 is north, 2 is northwest 3 west etc. Then throw it again and the number relates to distance. 1 (for me) would be 50 kms, 2 is 60. 3 is 70....When you reach the end of your random distance, have a coffee, look around, and throw again, but no opposite (returning) directions. Carry on until deciding where to sleep....Only need to see the sun and a watch / compass.........and then, errr, a sat nav to get home a week later 😆
I love follow your channel it is great. Regarding navigation when there is no service, I find great Sygic or Magic Earth which is totally free and no ads. I find Google Earth not as good . I always use a used phone for navigation and have Google Earth, Magic Earth, Sygic Premium, and HereWeGo. As said last 3 work well with no connection when you download the maps before and also take less memory than Google Maps.
Hmmm so it’s just really an upgrade for a vehicle which doesn’t have a touchscreen and relies 100% on a connected phone? In which case have you thought of a simple Quadlock / USB charger to hold the phone so you can then use Google maps? Seems to not be a GPS unit which uses satellites so it doesn’t need a phone signal. Look forward to the test video.
I see what your saying but I don’t want my phone on the bars incase of theft, a accident or vibrations damaging the camera etc but most importantly I need a big clear display
That’s fair enough but Quadlock do offer a dampener for under the phone but on top of the charging unit (just saying). I’ve recently invested in an iPhone 15 Pro Max and believe me I don’t want to damage it either 🙀 anyway hope it works out for you.
@@ontheroadadventure hi Rich, there is a cheaper alternative in plain site that costs pennies compared to orther devises on the market. But it's not fare to advertise it here as it will conflict with the product you've introduced here.
Im assuming we are talking about putting the phone on the bars? Whilst this will work, im not keen on having my phone on them where it is easily grabbed. Also If the phone gets damaged in a accident you have a problem, but mainly the phone screen is just to small for me to clearly read at a glance whilst riding
@@ontheroadadventure In a round about way yes. I purchased a second hand moto Rola phone off flea bay for 60 quid that had a 6 inch screen. Invented a spurious email address so I could log on to the App store then down loaded a brilliant nav app. Here's the best bit don't need a sim card and if the phone Flys off the bike or some scum bag nicks it it's only a phone and not information back to me. There is more about the app that's really useful and it's cheap to install
I like to try that Carpuride 702 pro because my Garmin Zumo XT is a nightmare. I had the same problems durng my motorvacation as you guys. Great to see that I'm not the only one who bought a pig in a poke.
Well, I have a 702b, and is unusable at night because is too bright, and on top of tjat tjere isn't auto dimming, so you have to go tru several menis just to adjust the brightness, that is stupid in a motorcycle. On top of that, the display is not that responsive, so I have to press more than once to make it work. It's not worth the money!
@@12masterr and even then it usually doesn't work because you don't have good mobile access everywhere in Europe (actually all over the world) a navigation system like Garmin or TomTom (I'm a spoiled TomTom user) they always have a connection even in tunnels, unfortunately you have to connect Garmin to the PC too often to update, which TomTom has the advantage of with WiFi
So I've got the w702b which I do like but gmaps through this doesn't quite do as well as my sat nav did as it doesn't show speed limits and current speed...when my phone screen does? Change to Waze and everything is fine..kinda helps keep my licence!
Whatever works. And you are happy with. Being old I'm struggling with all the new tech and if I'm honest don't want it taking over my riding or me becoming dependent on it. If it's just a bug extension of the phone then a good watercase wiuld allow the same and phone charging simultaneously. My new bike allows you to superimpose Google maps onto the dash screen ( Himmy 452) but it's a guge drain on battery and data. I still plan everything on paper maps and travel with them, but transfer the route to a gps and phone app on downliaded maps so signal isn't a problem. I really am too old to change. I watch with interest. I'm learning a lot. Ride safe 👍
We have a euro hike sendero 4 with a tarp on the side. You pitch the outer skin before the bedroom so keeps everything dry. You can stand in the living compartment and we park our bikes under the tarp 😊
Yes, in essence it's just a large phone screen extension. I did use my phone for navigation in Spain this year but I've converted back to a satnav because of the loss of signal. Yes, you can download maps but then like a phone when there's no signal I couldn't search for petrol stations, etc, which is not an issue on a satnav. I use TomTom, which I'm very happy with, especially with its integrated speed camera warnings and enroute display of petrol stations, rest areas, etc.
Hi Rich. I run a Tom Tom.. Must admit never had much of a issue. Even across Europe.. But I must admit this interests me.. However, totally agree it's the non connection issue with data etc.. So will be interested in your long term review..
Nice one. I’ve got the Chigee AIO-5 CarPlay system that I’m very happy with so far. I’m about to test it properly next week when I head off to the Picos. I’m using both MyRoute-App and scenic rather than google maps, which both allow more intricate route planning and also allow you to download the offline maps for entire countries. I’ll be interested to see how you get on with this long term, as I reckon they are the future.
Tried it, got totally exasperated with it randomly losing connection, not plotting routes and random screen jumping. Carpuride refused to honour their 60 day return, to the point of warning me it could be lost if I tried to return. Good luck with yours, mine went in the bin!
The sausage you bought is called "grillworst" grilled sausage. Its something you call cold meat for on a roll. You can buy it at an artisanal butchers.
Confused 🤷🏻♂️ does that pick up everything via Bluetooth from your phone to operate? So your phone relays it to the screen unlike an independent satnav unit ? If so then when ( they do ) phone network goes down , or your up in some remote area without phone coverage then does that mean your also without satnav? And if you require a phone connected permanently then what about data charges whilst touring different countries ? I’m still using motorrad 6 ( garmin ) on my bmw because it’s independent unlike BMW’s latest offering for that reason
Most sat nav apps (including google maps) allow you to download maps for offline use. As long as you remember to do so for each area or country you will be in, you do not need a mobile signal and it doesn’t use any mobile data.
I bought one for my summer trip from Spain to the Netherlands and back through Belgium France Switzerland Italy Frans and back to Spain. It worked perfect for me. Clear screen and very readable for my poor eyes.
@@ontheroadadventure the gps from my iPhone used as normal the battery. Sometimes on long days like 8 hours in the saddle I had to charge my phone. In respect of the data consumption I have no idea. I have unlimited data usage in Europe so I didn’t bother to check the consumption.
As a AT driver myself I don’t know why I should buy something like this. The At is one of the rare bikes which already has integrated CarPlay and it works flawlessly. I can use it with my handlebar buttons and it charges my phone while I’m riding the bike. So it’s always fully charged when I get off the bike. I absolutely love it and ditched all my navigation systems I used before. And I travelled half of the world with it. There is absolutely no need to change to any other navigation system this planet has to offer. 😅 Other than that, will be interesting to see how „carpuride“ will suite your needs.
I found mine takes ages to connect and will often need to be paired up again, also the screen on the AT isnt bright or clear enough in the sun especially
Looks a great bit of kit that ! Easy to use and set up 👍🏼 After you have used it on a trip and reviewed it further, I will look into getting one myself 🤔 keep up the good work Rich, and thanks 😉
The Twin does take forever to turn on carplay and connect, it will often lose the pairing between phone and bike and the display is hard to read especially in the sun
Cool, SatNav! If you lose service on your phone in a low coverage area, google maps will stop working as well. Downloading offline maps is a good safety net in a pinch.
