July Quaker is gorgeous 😊. knickers……🩲well what can I say, you are a one off Sherrie Dodd that’s for sure,Can I give you one piece of advice that I was given but didn’t heed about your overlocker…….un thread and re-thread it every week until you know it like the back of your hand, I thought I was smart enough to remember…..every time the threads breaks I have to get the manual out…..see I’m still not heeding my words. Dog please.
Hi Sherrie, Delighted to see you back on my screen this morning, you always brighten my day with your stitching, haul and stories, and thanks to your code I have a list ready to order from the talking dog stitchery.
Morning Sherrie, Just catching up with you while having me breakfast cuppa, love the La-d-da it’s going to be gorgeous, I didn’t realise that Rachel The talking DOG stitcher had open a shop, I must have missed that last time, so guess what I will doing on my lunch hour? Have a good day.
Thanks for letting us know about Rachel, the talking dog opening her shop, I try to shop local and support local seller when I can, but I don’t have a LNS near me so it nice to have another UK based shop to peruse and make a list and add to said list and again and again…..just don’t tell my wife🤫🤫🤫
Sherrie man what are you like lol, you never put up a boarding flosstube that’s for sure, aww wee Sammy looks wonderful done in glazed carrots, that chart is on my wish list but it sort of frightens me too, I’m not a stitcher of large pieces, I make too many mistakes, but I’d love to have a go at it, Dog please.
lol you always make me laugh out loud, love the Jardiniere Prive Cat lovers, and I love that you are changing the colours for kitties that you have owned/own. I love cats but both my girls have a dog, the green colour for the ink circles is just perfect.
Well if you were packed for a retreat , you certainly were making sure you have enough clean pants lol, I think you are just so ready for another retreat and a catch up with stitchy friends, when the kids were small we always had a dog as a pet, not I’m on my own I don’t have any but my grandson visits with his chocolate lab quite often. Love the stitching Sherrie.
Morning Sherrie, love the new start but I think that border would be too much for me, I’m not good with borders, but one of my goals for 2024/25 was to have a go at a Nora or a Mira, I’m loving yours…..I’m away now to take my grand-dog for his walk now the rain has stopped, I hate when it when its wet and warm , anyway have a good day.
I'm also shattered that Jane & Julie aren't recording... 😢 I started The Rosebush Sampler because of Jane... I finished it & had it framed... I love that piece!!! I have learned that I am more apt to write in my journal if it is open on the desk beside me! My daughter always complained about not having time to write in it, then she had it opened in the middle of her house & anytime she passed it to go into another room, she'd wrote down whatever she was working on...
Oh Sherrie - I've got overlocker envy!! LOL!! I so love how excited you get about your hobby - it is so infectious - well done for all your incredible progress this week - amazing - you are on FIRE :)
Believe it or not I started My stitching box on Friday! I bought mine with the box as well from The Nimble Thimble when I went down there while on Lancashire Stitcher’s retreat at the start of the month
Hey Sherie, I havent ventured to anything higher than 20 count as yet - I cant see the holes in the counts above this at all, so not ready to go the next step as yet. I havent picked up Bellatrix this week as it’s been pretty busy with work but tonight, I will be adding more stitches in!!! Loved your progress on everything, just amazing!!! Take care dals and have a fab week hopefully without the night wandering LOL ❤
@@justsewsherrie hahaha, I wear magnifying glasses when stitching and I only have to wear reading glasses when I am sewing so of course I have magnifying and reading glasses everywhere LOL
You’ll love being able to serge your own fabric. My mom bought me one for my birthday years ago. The dealer threaded it for me at the time. They also showed me how to tie the thread from a new spool onto the end of the current thread and slowly pull it through the machine so you don’t have to go through the anguish of threading. 😂 Maybe you should just get out your suitcase so your pants go in instead of lying on the chair!
Wonderful video as usual. Congrats on your serger. When changing the needle,or threading needle please always have the machine turned off. And now that my public service announcement is done take care❤❤😂😂😊
Hello Sherrie! I always enjoy your flosstube. It's like fresh air for me. Compliment for the serger. I (hush hush) use artist tape on my wips, because I don't like to use the sewing machine. The sarger will make your wips very professional. I always use 30 or 32 two over two, just because I like it. I like the look and thr feel of a stitch that has body and it's like embossed. For me 36ct it looks a bit crowded. On 30 and 32 I use a 22 Pony needle, so it makes the holes bigger! This was a reccomendation I heard on Vonna's flosstbe. I think it's personal taste. I like all the linen counts, but I don't enjoy higher counts than 36ct. I have a sampler that the designer said was to be stitched on 32ct with one strand. I did and I hated it. I stitched another thread on the one over on. I like Zweigart linen and not hand dyed, because hand dyed are usually too loose. I also reccommend Sajou linen, Sotema and Permin To save money I buy lot of vintage Anchor threads on ebay and I convert them to DMC. I think that it's because we have different wips that all the materials are quite expensive. In the past i had one piece and I began this ans stiched since it was complete. Now I have 14 wips! I think that if you like over one on high counts that is probably what you enjoy. Happy stitching!
Love your end quote 💞 Go you and your overlocker ☺ Love seeing your stitching. Getting a camera might be a bit scary and at the same time might be a laugh or two. Have a lovely week and happy stitching. 🌸💞
Hi Sherrie great to see your progress I’ve been looking out for your episode to see what you have been up to ….my mum used to sleep walk just hope you stay safe xx
Did you know that the Paintbox silk you are using for Be Not A Dunce matches your eyes? Your flosstubes bring me joy, motivation, and always laughter! Well done woman!
Loving seeing you each week, you make us all laugh. I had a yellow dog growing up called Goldie, she was a golden Labrador. Haven’t thought about her in a long while. Keep up the good work 😊
Put a handle on your broken glasses, and you've got Lorgenet opera glasses. That's what I call really posh. 😊love the surgery ❤Happy stitching lovely 😊
Fun catch up Sherrie. Re The Love Poppet SAL - it’s beautiful but you clearly aren’t enjoying the two over two. Did you see that Sally @flossysewsandgrows is stitching it with all the kit materials but just using one thread? It looks great so maybe a restart with just one thread would help you enjoy it as the kit and design deserve.
Totally agree that stitching 1 over 2 on a high count linen is less expensive but to do that you have to be able to see where you are stitching. Used to think my eyesight was okay but even with magnification I struggle! Love your stitching as always.
Lovely to catch up with you this morning. Looking forward to hearing your number of starts for this year so far.....You know I don't like stitching with 2 strands of floss any more so I am stitching he Love Poppet SAL with 1 strand on the kit fabric and it looks great. Good coverage and enjoying stitching it so I would start again and do it 1 over 2. Happy Stitching! xx
Hi Sherrie. Congratulations on your show. I have an overlocker machine I haven't read the manual yet had it about 8 years. BUT I went to RU-vid typed in the exact brand and type it was( and still do if I forget) I watched the same person who was instructed how to thread it a few times then it was stop. Do step 1. Stop watch repeat and do it myself. Basically had the tutor repeating it until I had it threaded up. My one comment for you to check EVERY TIME BEFORE USE ON EXPENSIVE FABRIC is do a short run on scrap fabric to make sure the cutting edge is not down and you waste your linen. I have learnt the hard way! ( I find instruction manuals are like looking at a different language) And I should know having 2 bilingual grandchildren. Happy stitching
Awww Sherrie thank you so much for passing on thanks to everyone, I absolutely echo what you said and I truly meant it when I said support doesn’t cost a penny - so many people liked, shared, talked about the shop or sent an encouraging message and it was really wonderful to experience 💜😭 ps. Im almost out of Rachael Birds all over again! 🙈 Omg your new toy!!!! I now need some Sherrie overlocked fabric to go with my Sophie stash 😍
The Inktense is a decent idea, I've painted a background with them when I didn't like the chart colours. It looked fantastic but the colours dried lighter. Experiemnting is all part of the fun.
I would love to try linen but have been an Aida stitcher 50 years. The eyesight needs bifocals... Do any of the fabric dyers sell bits of assorted scrap pieces? All your projects are coming along nicely! The cat lovers ❤ looks fabulous!
You might find something on eBay or facebook for small scraps! Definitely recommend a 28ct Zweigart or evenweave to start as the weave is much more open ☺️
You get so much stitching in Sherrie 😃. I'm sure 😀 I will never stitch with two threads again. I've now got three sewing machines that don't work, none of which I used a lot, probably cheaper to find somewhere to service them. Have fun with your new toy. Have a good week🤗
Good afternoon, Sherri I'll make sure never to share a room with you if ever I get to a retreat as I also sleep walk. Think two together would cause havoc. Lol
So … note to self … never ask Sherrie to share a bedroom at a retreat. 🤣🤣 I hope you are ok with the sleep walking… I want to laugh at the stories but also nervous for you.
So I am not a Mira stitcher yet! But…as far as fabric goes I make a couple of points…one that if you consider all your projects is there a trend as far as fabric goes to what you really enjoy stitching on? Ie list your favourites and see if there is a count or dyer that you prefer….also I struggled with a start on over-dyed 46 count….had decided to restart on 40count…but am stubborn so while waiting for another piece to arrive (weeks) I experimented with needles lighting etc and unsurprisingly it got easier…” I got my eye in” some projects need more time spent on them in each sitting….I think thats how people graduate to higher count linens! Imho. Charlie has made a good choice!
"Charlie is sitting on my finishes because that's what cats do."😅 Also on my starts, my WIPS, my patterns, my tablet... Not to mention occasionally chomping on my threads! Your videos delight and inspire me. Thanks for powering through!
One time I arrived to the gym and started my routine and my shirt was inside out!!!! Your finishes are very beautiful. In my defense, hahaha, I love it!!!
Just caught up and what a great video. Well done in the 3 finishes - love thd floral etchings. Ots just brilliant that you are supporting a new business start by your friend Talking DOG Stitcher and I'm just heading over there now to spend some pennies. Please can you tell me where you get your blotchy fabric for the signs you stitch (was it assessment ward and the one in thos video?). I bought one of their designs and love how the fabric contrasts the words. Take care and happy stitches love Karen xx
Thanks so much Karen. The fabrics are Tornado by Fox and Rabbit for the disturbed women (assessment ward) and crispy October by Primitive Hare and I got them both from 123stitch ☺️
